I’ll admit, when I hear the name “Mike Tyson,” I don’t immediately think, “hilarious star of Adult Swim’s latest Hanna-Barbera cartoon spoof.”

However, after watching the screener copy of Mike Tyson Mysteries, all that has changed.

First announced at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, the premise of Mike Tyson Mysteries is as follows: after retiring from an illustrious career in boxing, Mike Tyson has taken up sleuthing – solving mysteries alongside a ghost (the Marquess of Queensberry), his adopted daughter (Yung Hee), and a talking Pigeon (Pigeon). Oh, and the team’s help is enlisted by strangers sending messages via carrier pigeon.

In the first episode, famed author Cormac McCarthy requests the assistance of Mystery Inc. Mike Tyson & Co. to help him find ending for his book. I won’t spoil anything for you, but I will say that the story involves a centaur, a murder, and Mike Tyson dick punching a chupacabra (“the only thing he hadn’t beat the shit out of”):

If the “leaked” screener is evident of the series, everything about the show seems to work: Mike Tyson’s subtle mocking of his own intellect, Pigeon’s crude and sarcastic commentary (complements of the amazing Norm MacDonald), and the bizarre appearance of mythical creatures. It may be too soon to call it, but I believe that this show could be every bit as delightful as The Venture Brothers., or at least Sealab 2021. Plus, Mike’s got to bite someone’s ear off at some point, right?

So check out the screener copy below, and be sure to watch the premiere next Monday, October 27 at 10:30PM over on Adult Swim!
