  2. Nerdy Show 293 :: Escape from Ape-Catraz

    The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast unloads on the latest geek news and happenings!

    Something genuinely strange has happened friends. There was once a age where summer blockbusters were a popcorn-munching escapist’s paradise of awesome stories coupled with dazzling effects. But those days were long past, plots got dumber, and quality films became few and far between… Until now. Against all odds, summer 2017 has hit hard with stellar films. Films that are critically acclaimed, artfully crafted, and explosive in the effects department. In this episode we share our awe and wonderment with Spider-Man Homecoming and War For the Planet of the Apes. But that’s not all.

    Join Cap, boR, Tony, and Brandon as we explore not only our summertime film habits, but the amazing TV we’ve seen too including the new Warren Ellis-penned Castlevania on Netflix, cartoons we’ve caught up on, and other treats from the small screen. Plus: Brandon’s Apes notes he scrawled in the darkened theatre, a few good books, and the Splatoon-fueled debate of cake vs. ice cream. (more…)

  3. Nerdy Show Interview: 40 Years of Cerebus the Aardvark with Gerhard

    When The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions and interviews.

    Cap celebrates 40 years of a comic book milestone: Cerebus the Aardvark. It’s an independent comic that took the world by storm, changed the industry forever, and broke bold new ground with its hilarious and heart-rending story. The series was written and drawn by Dave Sim with background artist, Gerhard. Together they chronicled the life of this ill-fated aardvark with Sim drawing the characters and Gerhard anchoring the cartoon animal into immaculately rendered environments.

    This archival HeroesCon panel is a one-on-one conversation with Gerhard as Cap learns about the artists’ collaborative process in creating the longest-running indie comic of all-time, how to ditch school but still get some book learnin’, and breaking beyond the background with Gerhard’s new project, The Smile of the Absent Cat, written by Grant Morrison for Heavy Metal.
