1. YEAR-END LIST: The Top 20 Nerdy Things of 2015

   

   It’s the moment you’ve been waiting all year for: your friends at Nerdy Show have once more completed the impossible (and some argue unnecessary) task of ranking the top 20 nerdiest things of the year.

   Our list heralds from all facets of society: from science to game shows and pop culture to technology. We’ve run the gamut, collected a host of nerdy topics, and ranked them on a completely arbitrary and unscientific scale (save for the Google Sheets wizardry Jess cast to tally everyone’s votes). It’s always a heatedly debated list, but this year there is one glaring omission you’re sure to notice: The Force Awakens. The Star Wars frenzy is in full effect, pushing global nerd energies to ice cap melting extremes. In this case, that’s a good thing – but we felt it fair to omit the biggest player on the board so the rest could have a chance to shine. (more…)

2. YEAR-END LIST: The Top Nerdy Things of 2015 – Superlatives

   

   Every year the Nerdy Show crew mash our collective heads together to figure out the Top 20 Nerdy Things of the Year. Competition is always fierce and divisive. When you’re dealing with as subjective a quantifier as “nerdiness” things just don’t stack the same as your average “best of” lists. That why this year we’ve foregone the usual Honorable Mentions and created a series of superlatives to give due recognition to the more specific notes of nerd awesomeness that rocked us in the wily year of 2015. 3. 5 Reasons Jurassic World Is On My List of Places to Visit Before I Die

   

   Jurassic World, Planet Earth’s first theme park dedicated to REAL LIVE DINOSAURS, opens its gates June 12th and I couldn’t be more excited. The zoological and adventure park has been in development for decades now (remember back when it was called Jurassic Park, lol) and promises to be the world-class attraction to rule them all. Here’s just a few reasons why after this summer all other vacation destinations will go extinct.

4. Top 12 Movies Nerdy Show is Excited For in 2015

   2015 is shaping up to be a solid year for films with a nerdy persuasion.

   Not only are we seeing the return of cinema showstoppers like Avengers and Star Wars, but we’re also treated to an exciting batch of fresh films from trusted creative forces.  What’s more, this year we get to revisit the worlds of several cinema franchises we haven’t seen in quite some time – for better, or for worse.    2014, you wily beast… We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve partied, and we’ve run the gauntlet. All that’s left is the ultimate challenge – the FINAL BOSS that is Nerdy Show‘s annual “Top 20 Nerdy Things” list. The list that makes all other year-end countdowns cower in shame.

   What makes our Top 20 so brutal? We subject the year’s pop culture, achievements in science & technology, and world happenings to a test of might that leaves titans shattered: we rank them on nerdiness.  No sane person would dare compare a major motion picture against scientific achievement – but, for the betterment of humanity, we do. 7. 15 Shows You Could be Watching on Nick Reboot RIGHT NOW!

   Many of my friends wax poetic about the 80’s. Not me. I’m a 90’s kid through and through. And Nickelodeon programming plays a HUGE part in my nostalgia. Now, thanks to Nick Reboot, I no longer have to rely on nostalgia – I can watch my favorite 90s Nickelodeon shows anytime I want.

   

   It’s a 24hr streaming service with a full library of the classics. “What classics?” you ask? 8. Weird Al’s 10 Best Music Videos

   Last week, “Weird Al” Yankovic not only released his 14th album, Mandatory Fun, but began a campaign of releasing eight videos in eight days. The last video, “Mission Statement“, was just released today. Al’s career began in the heyday of classic MTV, creating a symbiosis between the wordplay of his albums with the sight gags of his videos. In honor of his latest  video campaign, we’ve managed to narrow down and rank Weird Al’s 10 Best Music Videos.

   It was hard enough to pick a favorite video, and harder still to figure out how they ranked.  This list represents the videos that made us laugh the hardest and hit a pinnacle of quality and creativity that dwarfs all Al’s 49 other videos. (more…)

   Guys. Gals. Less than 24 Earth hours stand between us and new episodes of Sailor Moon. CAN YOU STAND IT?!

   For the first time since the mid-90s the Scouts are gathering to fight the forces of darkness in an all-new series. Sailor Moon Crystal promises to give this legendary show a much-needed reboot. (more…)

    We proudly present our 5th annual Top 20 Nerdy Things list!

    Since 2009 it’s been our solemn duty to create a list ranking the “Top 20 Nerdy Things” of the year.  We take all of pop culture, science & technology, and world happenings and subject them to a number of life-or-death challenges akin to Highlanders battling one another for the quickening, or The Hunger Games for you younglings.  Those topics that remain, the experts here at Nerdy Show judge by the truest qualifying factor we know: Nerdiness.  No sane person would dare rank scientific achievements against video game releases – but, for the betterment of humanity, we do.
