Ronald Weasley: Divorcé and Tinder Failure

Posted by Jess on February 4, 2016

Most times, celebrity answers to the maligned, “where would your character be today” question are terribly boring. But not one Rupert Grint, actor who portrayed Ronald Weasley in the Harry Potter movie franchise.

At the Celebration of Harry Potter event in Orlando, Florida, Grint and fellow Potter alums Matt Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Katie Leung (Cho Chang) sat down with HuffPo writer Aaron Sanders for an interview of hilarious proportions.

When asked where Ron might be off to in present time, Rupert replied with (let’s be honest) what we’ve all been thinking:

I would expect Ron has probably divorced Hermione already. I don’t think that relationship would have done very well.

He went on to elaborate that he’s unemployed, living in a one-bedroom apartment, and doing horribly on Tinder. But don’t worry, the ever-reliable Neville is on the case:

Neville works at the school, right? So he’s a professor, just enjoying that. Maybe he’s trying to get Ron a job, man. And he keeps throwing it back in his face, like, “I don’t need your help, Neville; Jesus, just leave it.” And I’m like, “Come on, it’s fine, we’ll sort it out, just trying to get you back into the fold.” Yeah, him and Hermione don’t see eye to eye because I’ve taken Ron’s side in the relationship, obviously. They’ve got everyone split off, friends wise.

I won’t lie, seeing Lewis & Grint come up with absolutely perfect future stories for characters they haven’t played since 2010 has made my week. And honestly, that’s a sequel I’d totally pay money to see.

What about you fellow Potter fans? Do you believe this is a plausible story for Ron & Hermione?

As for those looking for more Grint, you can see him in the indie film Moonwalkers alongside Ron Perlman – now playing at select theaters or digital on demand. Hear us offer a brief review in the latest episode of Nerdy Show.
