The Real Congregation :: Where Rock Is Criminal… 12/6/11

Posted by MarcWithaC on December 6, 2011

This week, Marc With a C resists the urge to fall into yet another Monkees hole. He’s saving his energy on that side of things. Instead, you’ll hear him go on at length about the strange case of Lisa Germano, the even stranger case of Os Mutantes, and tells the story of why his dog hates the Tom Tom Club.

All this and our “Strange Records Of The Week”! Let’s rock!

  1. Way Below The Radio :: Lisa Germano Way Below the Radio - Slide
  2. A Meniha Menina :: Os Mutantes
  3. Tears Began To Fall (live) :: Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention

About MarcWithaC

I was born at a very young age. After that, I made a lot of records. Used to host The Real Congregation for Nerdy Show. Now I just sort of pop up when needed, and I'm the general manager for Nerdy.FM, our 24/7 radio station dedicated solely to nerdy music! Also, still making records.

  1. I was idly thinking while you were talking about the Nesmith episode that you should do a full on Zappasode sometime and then you go and tap into the same collective conciousness I was wading in. My vote is yes and thank you for a wonderful addition to my weekly podcast rotation.

  2. Also, do you have any recomendation for how or where to sell/trade niche record rarities? I pulled a mint sealed Aphex Twin single last month which I’ve only ever seen stateside on ebay NM for ~100.

  3. A Zappasode? Consider it on the to-do list for 2012. It’d be my honor.

    Also, selling used records is a crapshoot lately. The eBay bubble is a bit perforated, and Discogs is only as good as that particular seller. Best bet is to try out a message board/fan community for the artist in question (I’m sure that Aphex Twin has a healthy one) and let them know what you’ve got if you’re looking to flip said record. I’m pretty sure someone will bite. I turned a very nice profit on the first press of Rilo Kiley’s first EP this way.
