Nerdy Show Microsode: Scooby-Doo Legacy

Posted by NerdyShow on August 31, 2016

ep270_5When The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions and interviews.

Across the network, one of our favorite topics of discussion has got to be animation. From the kind that’s paired best with over-sugared cereal, to the kind that makes your shell-shocked ‘Nam vet great uncle blush. Well, in this episode we send up a series that’s been around since that great uncle of yours was slashing through the jungles: Scooby-Doo. For nearly 50 years Scoob and the gang have been run-cycling their way through one spooky situation to another across TV, films, comics, and really, every medium known to humankind if we’re being thorough.

Join Cap, Doug, Jonathan from Wicked Anime, and Norbert Daniels Jr. of Saturday Morning Block Party as we dig through the gang’s storied and sometimes sordid history. We explore the Hanna-Barbera history that led to the creation of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, the cool and sometimes inexplicable crossovers, the new comic Scooby Apocalypse, and the series’ crowning achievements such as the acclaimed Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. Whether you’re down with the Doo, or have witnessed one unmasking too many, there’s strange nerdy stories herein guaranteed to thrill and chill. Rikes!

  1. Scooby Doo had always been part of my mostly do to sisters falling in love with the talking great dane, and being able to watch every Scooby show on boomerang.

But my favorite Scooby thing from all of those years was on September 6, 2010, While I was watching the bonus features of a movie I just watched for the first time my youngest sister was getting ready to watch the newest episode Mystery Incorporated downstairs. All of a sudden I hear a song, a song called “The Words Get Stuck In My Throat” which was in the movie I just watched but it was coming from downstairs. I came downstairs and ask my sister if two bigfoots show up and as I asked it two bigfoot like monster show up and beat the crap out of each other. I was so happy because that episode called Battle of the Humungonauts and it was a tribute to the movie I just finished watching Furankenshutain no Kaij?: Sanda tai Gaira better known as War of the Gargantuas.

also I loved Mystery Incorporated because they made Vincent VanGhoul an old monster movie star which was awesome since Vincent Price played him
