Posted by NerdyShow on January 19, 2015

ep205Indie comics are shaping the rest of the comic book scene. Now, more so than ever, it’s the books not produced by Marvel and DC that are setting the pace for the industry.

In this episode, Nerdy Show hosts Cap, Tony, and Aaron share their favorite recent books and, surprise, surprise – most of them are indies. If you’re looking for fantastic books to read, look no further! We’ve got the perfect reading list to kick off 2015.  But indies aren’t all we read – find out what books from the big two are kicking ass and hear us rage about the ones that fill us with ire.

We also sit down with Atomic Robo co-creators Brian Clevinger and Scott Wegener to discuss the BIG changes about to hit their beloved book and how they’re bringing the greatest science adventure comic directly to the people. What’s more, devoted fan Zombiepops requested a Microsode where we talk specifically about our favorite comics outside the mainstream, so we’re joined by host Luke McDuffee for a journey into our most beloved indies and obscure titles.

  1. It’s so good to hear comics are still on the rise. As for atomic robo i really need to jump on that band wagon. Been hearing about it haven’t had a chance to check it out

  2. Here is a link to the passage in the Bible that Aaron mentioned. This is the King James Version (old English if you will). There are many “versions” of the Bible written in different speak so it is easier to understand. The KJV didn’t use outcast, but another one might.

Also, these are the three passages that describe the event. Each is written by different authors.

FYI, I am only posting this for information purposes. If you are curious about the origins of Aaron’s guess work here it is. If you are predisposed against this text, then ignore this posting.

    • From Aaron:
“That’s pretty awesome. Maybe I took liberty with the demons that were “cast out” and called them the outcast. Maybe Kirkman took that liberty too. We will see. It’s still one of the wackiest Jesus anecdotes.”

      • When looking it up, most people referred to the passage as “Jesus outcast demons”, and given how most people teach it, they would likely use the same verbiage. As for crazy bible stories, I thought being raised from the dead was pretty cool, but Marvel and DC have kinda diluted the grandeur.

I would say some of the casual commands given could sound pretty wacky. Like telling a dude to let you rub mud from your spit on his eyes to cure blindness would sound crazy to anyone.
