I had planed to recreate the whole episode of “The Pandorica Opens” from Dr. Who thru screen shots but I have been procrastanating on pressganging someone with the ability to spawn in testificates and other mob in as set dressing, so I figured I would post up the actual set builds witch where 95% of the actual build before I run out of time. I may put a second post on this topic with the full thing latter.

The whole build was done with no spawned matterials in the actual buildings (Full disclosure: I used some spawned dirt to make a flat building area for the first build but dug up many times as much as I got in my latter builds and I accepted some enchanted tools as a gift) but other than that it was basicly built in vanilla with no mod power. In other words all blocks used where gathered and placed by hand. I stared with no class on the server so I decided to not get one intill after the contest was over for consitancy.

First we have the Dimond Cliff

    “DOCTOR: Vavoom!
    AMY: Va-what?
DOCTOR: I can’t believe I’ve never thought of this before. It’s genius. Right. Landed. Come on.
    AMY: Where are we?
DOCTOR; Planet One. The oldest planet in the universe. And there’s a cliff of pure diamond, and according to legend, on the cliff there’s writing. Letters fifty feet high. A message from the dawn of time And no one knows what it says, because no one’s ever translated it. Till today.
    AMY: What happens today?
DOCTOR: Us. The Tardis can translate anything. All we have to do is open the doors and read the very first words in recorded history.
    AMY:… Vavoom.”

As you can Probably tell right off the bat that I didn’t make the cliff out of real dimond blocks and I did this for two reasons. 1) Gathering that much dimond legitamatly would be almost imposable. 2) I felt that the cliff shown in the show was far too dark with impuritys in the dimond to be well represented by the crisp clean teal of minecraft dimond blocks. I decided to go with just a dirt cliff built out of a mountan and covered in glass panes to make it look like crystal. the mushrooms in the jungle in front of it where each grown on a block of mycilyum that was spawned in so they would stay permenantly. I only spawned them in because after inquiering after where a mushroom biome might be I was informed that there was none naturaly ocuring on the server and I dident want to have to dig up someones garden for it.

    The Roman Camp.

“(The Tardis materialises at the edge of a wood, on a hill.)
    AMY: Right place?
DOCTOR: Just followed the co-ordinates on the cliff face. Earth. Britain. one oh two am. No, pm. No… AD.”

I had hoped that I could screen shot it with a bunch of testificates running around as the romans but as I said, I’m procrastanating on pressganing people. I also added a comand tent in the back there cause thats where most of the actual acting happens in the show beyond the establishing shot above. not much else to say. onward!

    Stone Henge/ The Underhenge

“AMY: The Pandorica? What is it?
RIVER: A box, a cage, a prison. It was built to contain the most feared thing in all the universe.
DOCTOR: And it’s a fairy tale, a legend. It can’t be real.
RIVER: If it is real, it’s here and it’s opening, and it’s got something to do with your Tardis exploding. Hidden, obviously. Buried for centuries. You won’t find it on a map.
DOCTOR: No, but if you buried the most dangerous thing in the universe, you’d want to remember where you put it.”

“DOCTOR: Sorry, sorry, dropped it. Hello, Stonehenge! Who takes the Pandorica, takes the universe. But bad news, everyone,
(The Doctor appears on the Altar stone.)
DOCTOR: Because guess who? Ha! Listen, you lot, you’re all whizzing about. It’s really very distracting. Could you all just stay still a minute because I am talking! The question of the hour is, who’s got the Pandorica? Answer, I do. Next question. Who’s coming to take it from me? Come on! Look at me. No plan, no back up, no weapons worth a damn. Oh, and something else. I don’t have anything to lose! So, if you’re sitting up there in your silly little spaceship, with all your silly little guns, and you’ve got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who’s standing in your way. Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, and then, do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first.
    (The spaceships retreat.)
DOCTOR: That’ll keep them squabbling for half an hour.”

The hardest part of this build was all the flying structures on account of not being able to fly. Also rather than go with attempst to recreate the ships from the show I decided to make most of the ships bastardized versions of other famous spaceships {see if you can guess them all}. I did that mainly cause you never get a realy good look at all the ships and I figured they would look better if I had A better reference for them. Near the center of Stone henge is the staircase down to the Underhenge where the Pandorica is held. The cobwebs where all gathered using a pair of shears with silk touch. Also there is the cyberman storage room in the back of the main chamber that you can’t see in the screenshot. And now the piece de resistance of my build.

    The Tardis

“DOCTOR: There are cracks. Cracks in time. There’s going to be a huge explosion in the future, on one particular day. And every other moment in history is cracking around it.
RORY: So how does that work? What kind of explosion? What exploded?
RIVER [memory]: And for those of us who can’t read the base code of the universe?
    DOCTOR [memory]: Amy’s time.
DOCTOR: Doesn’t matter. The cracks are everywhere now. Get too close to them and you can fall right out of the universe.”

When I started this build I asked myself If I was building the tardis at this scale there was no way to make it bigger on the inside and I couldn’t make it travel though time and space, so what could my build do that the tardis in the show could do. then the answer came to me. I could make it explode destroying all of time and space as it did at the end of The Pandorica Opens. at about 64x64x128 I figured that if I stuffed that thing full of TNT and set it off it would probably crash the server thus ending all time and space in minecraftia. of course I made sure that I had both Cap’s and John’s permition to go ahead with such an outlandish plan. Unfortionatly that has been put on hold till I pressgang someone with crazy lawmen powers into giving me a hand because of a lesson that I learned the hard way. Creepers can and will spawn on blocks of TNT if they are not well lit and cause a large chain reaction. destroying the bottem third of the tardis. the damage has all been repaired with the exeption of the Dr. Who Theme music box that was built underneath the tardis thanks to a great reaction of help from the comunity. hopefully I will be able to get John to spawn the music box back in from a schematic before the end of the contest.

Finaly I want to give a shout out to everyone who lent me a hand in one way or another during this build. So thank you to
    Trent Hawkins
    and Kaosabaloo
If there was anyone I forgot to mention I sincerly apologize and thank you as well.

hopefully I will be able to finish up that last little it of stuff before the end and get it posted here.

P.S. Can you find the crack in time Hidden in each of my builds? (example pictured below)

Well I got a bit more of it done. The music box has been spawned back in and the destruction of time and space has been recorded.

Tho the video Is a bit of a disappointment because the tardis never appears to take any damage I was sent some nice screencap of it from jon afterward

the end result of all of this was that just like in the show when the tardis exploded it destroyed all of time and space. however as an unintentional side effect, also like in the show the tardis locked itself in a temperal lock where it will explode slowly until the end of time (or when ever jon gets back to it with the tools the needs to fix it). unfortionatly this means that I couldn’t go back to the site to get the video of the music box like I had planed without risking crashing the server again. I will however post again with the video of it when I hear its safe again, but rest assured It was there in time for the end of the contest. Thanks again to everyone who helped me with this build and a special thanks to jon for putting up with my crazy idea even tho it created more work for him.

p.s. I hope this isn’t considered late cause its only 10:00 here in Alaska
