KeymasterHa! That’s ridiculous.
In related news, Matt wrote an amazing piece on the EU and what the new cannon could learn from it:

ParticipantI’ve been away from NS and SOTE for awhile, but did anyone see the movie early?
Because it turns out we got a 12:01am 17th December premiere in Australia as well, which means that, despite me walking in at 1:30pm today and seeing it in a cinema with maybe 20 other people in it, I think I still saw it before most Americans.

Keymaster@frozentreasure The only one of us who’s actually seen the film so far is our cohort at Consequence of Sound, Mike Roffman.
Who informed me that when it comes to our State of the Empire predictions… “It’s true… all of it.”
Doug and I are seeing it at 7pm EST today and Matt is seeing it at 10:30 Pacific. A cinema with 20 other people…Roy… explain Australia to me… how does that even happen. I thought the manic hype was global!

ParticipantI’m sure manic hype existed for the film.
At the 12:01am premiere screening.
In each of the four or five cinemas in my city.
And probably at the 12:30am screenings.
And maybe even at the 6am screenings.
I think the hype cooled off a tiny bit when the movie screened every 30 minutes from 9am today, on a Thursday. I got to casually go into town, grab lunch at my local pancake parlour (which included a free movie ticket), then stroll on down to the theatre and get a seat at the next available screening. Pretty sure I did the same thing for The Battle Of Five Armies and Age of Ultron pretty close to their releases as well.

ParticipantSide note: spoilers come through on email notifications completely, not sure if that’s something you may want to look into at all.

ParticipantOkay I checked the cinema’s screening times, and they had two 12:01 screenings (one regular, one premium) and six 12:30 screenings (five regular, one premium). All sold out, so that’s probably where the hype was at that one particular movie theatre.
Also there was one 3D screening at 12:01, also sold out.

ParticipantA bunch of friends and I planned to go see it. Put off buying tickets until last week. We’re going to see it at 1:45AM tomorrow morning. I have no regrets. It’ll be in IMAX 3D. Zero fux given.

ParticipantI did get a chance to see it early (last night) and man, if it wasn’t for me working late tonight I’d want to talk with the SotE crew because MANNNN I have some things I want to discuss (though I don’t think I should in the public eye just yet so as to avoid spoiling it for those who haven’t seen it yet).

ParticipantI kinda want to listen to this, and I kinda don’t…I’m not going to get to see it until the 30th I think, and there’s kind of no way i’ll go that long without getting it spoiled.
Today was really funny though at work. One of my artists was like “YO. it is THE BEST.” and then this other animator rolls up and was like “YO. It is the WORST.” and were like “i think you need to elaborate on that…” and he was like “this part was good, that was great, this other part was neat. 0/10!” and I was just like “…”

KeymasterOh dear, sweet @maxacree – just sneak off quetly to a mid-day showing, dude! Something, anything. Though if you’ve listened past the blast doors on any SotE in the past six months you may be well braced for the respective plot points…

KeymasterTHE STATE OF THE EMPIRE CLIPS SHOW PROJECT
I’ve been kicking around an idea for the past couple months of assembling a clips show for SotE. Basically we’d mine episodes 0-18 for moments of us predicting the content of The Force Awakens or outcome of the new era of Star Wars in general – either instances where we were right on the money, or where we were SUPER wrong – as well as just fun, touching, and funny stuff.
The problem? It’s clear now that since that involves re-listening and making notes on 19 episodes, there’s no way I’ll have time to put this together, and neither will Colin or any of the other usual suspects in the editing corner. That is… unless we had help.
YOU’RE OUR ONLY HOPE
If anyone is interested in going through the SotE backlog and logging moments (episode #, time, and a brief description of what’s said) then we can put together a hell of a clips show and a beautiful summary of how far we’ve come. Let me know if you’re interested!
