ParticipantAtlantis Rising
Several million years ago, the continent of Antarctica has become covered in ice. Their lies the great city of the Ancients, Atlantis — but no longer. One Ancient bids a solemn farewell to another, who will stay behind. The great city lifts off the surface and flies away like a great ship, leaving behind only a small outpost. Ten Thousand years later, the city is found by an international expedition group in the Pegasus Galaxy. Upon entering the city through the Stargate, the city came to life, lighting up, as if waking up from a deep slumber after a few thousand years. The explorers quickly discovered that the legend of Atlantis sinking to the bottom of a great ocean was indeed true, but that it had happened in another galaxy was the only twist. But to make matters worse, the power sources of the city had depleted over the millennia and left many areas of the city flooded under ocean and the expedition arriving had drained what little power was keeping the ocean at bay. In the expedition’s hour of need Atlantis’ fail safe program activated, and the city rose from the ocean.
On the stairs opposite the Atlantis Stargate is scrawled a message:
WE HOLD THESE AS THE TRUTH
A HEARTY WELCOME TO THOSE OF OTHER WORLDS
VISITING OUR HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME WELCOME AGAIN
TO THOSE RETURNING YOU HAVE BEEN GONE TOO LONG AND YOUR
ABSENCE HAS WEIGHED HEAVILY ON OUR SOULS WE ARE

The main tower before it was vertically expanded.More photos can be seen at http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/6Shooter/library/Minecraft_Atlantis
As of this date, I’ve had Twothums help me expand the size of the tower with World Edit to add an additional 3 floors to the tower bringing the total number of accessible floors to twenty five!
Reference and walk through photos will be added tomorrow.

ParticipantMore info on this project.
I originally started building this tower back in June of 2012 when Gateworld.net was doing their SGRewatch of the Stargate: Atlantis series. I remember loving the series so much because if it’s departure from what SG-1 was. It was definitely more Science Fiction based than SG-1, and had eally good reasons to not have crossovers between the two series. And at the time of the serie’s premiere, the design for the main tower and the city itself was revolutionary and has stood out since. So I decided then to start building the tower. This was before I had the ability to fly or any other powers. The stone bricks i used at the time were all mined, smelted and crafted by myself in at least 8 furnaces to make the initial build. Even when I got the Fly ability I was still creating my own stone bricks.
But now that I have had creative mode for the past 2 or so months I’ve been zipping around the tower sprucing up the place and using all the pieces I wish I’d been able to use when I started building the tower. And now it’s done! The tower is complete! The complete build is made up of 30,383 blocks from the water level to the top of the highest antenna. I have put in over 100 consecutive hours on this project.
Walk through photos!!
Starting at the brain of the whole operation, the ‘Gate Room/Command level!
My “try” at the Pegasus Stargate.
The stair case to the Command level.
Command Center complete with Ancient consoles.
The Base Commander’s Office a.k.a. Dr. Weir’s Office.
Exterior of the Conference Room, opposite the Command Center.
Conference Room interior complete with Ancient Conference Table.
The balcony behind the top of the stairs. One of the iconic parts of Atlantis’ Command level.
This is the blueprint layout of the command level/’Gate Room floor that can be found online. I used this when I built out the level and had to expand the tower out to compesate for the room i didn’t initially have.
The view up through the Puddle Jumper Bay and out the roof exit from the ‘Gate Room floor.
The Puddle Jumper Bay! First floor.
View of the Puddle Jumper Bay from Floor Two.
Complete with Ancient Scanning Table.
Also, the once seen, Ancient Operating Room as seen in 4×01 Adrift.
And, of course, Ancient Infirmary Beds.Next Level Down
Observation Level/Quarantine Level 2
Custom Waiting Area.
View of the Quarantine Room from Observation Room 1.Quarantine Level 1/Quarantine Rooms
Quarantine Room 1
Looking up at Observation Room 1.
Outside of the Quarantine Level 1 area is a sweet view of the downward facing antennas used for internal communications in the city. There’s also a Storage space between the two entrances to the Quarantine rooms, on that level. The next 4 levels are all Science Facilities.
They also include a sweet open air area for coffee breaks.
Balcony areas like this were often seen in the series.
Each Lab has at least 2 Ancient Control Interfaces.
There are also 2 labs that span 2 levels.
As were featured throughout the series.
Click the link in the initial post to see all the Labs!
The second to last floor of the Scinece Levels are 2 training amphitheaters.
On the bottom floor of the science levels I put a lounge area.
These were rarely seen in the series but they did exist.
Also included on the bottom floor of the Science Levels is a hidden lab. Something that popped up from time to time throughout the series.
Sequestered away behind the elevator/Teleporters.
Also on the bottom floor of the Science Level is an access to a main power conduit.(It’ll make more sense when you get to the bottom of the post.)Going down!
Next stop!
Cafe Balcony!
This level was one of the custom levels I added and will make more sense once you read the next description.
Cafe/Cafeteria. This set in the series was usually a redress of the ‘Gate Room/Command Center set. Which is why I added a second level to the Cafeteria.
The Cafeteria level also has a storage space outside.Next level down!
Nothing really special here.
It’s all structural supports that have a “wing” design on them to pay homage to the “Pegasus Expedition” patch the Earthlings all wear.
This level is where the original tower expands outward to compensate for the size of the rest of the levels.
The level is also where the staircase from the lower section of the tower ends. From this this level, all higher levels are only accessible by elevator/Transporter. The level includes two storage rooms.Heading down…
The next 5 levels after that are all Dormitories of various shapes and sizes.
There are also common rooms included on 4 of the 5 floors. The next floor down is only acessable by the stairs…
For security reasons.
Because it houses the Ancient Holding Cell/Detention Center.Next Level Down is an iconic level.
Because this is where the Zero Point Modules(ZPMs), the hearts of the city and tower, are housed. The literal power plant of the city.Final level!
A hybrid referenced and custom level.
This level contains a power monitor station that overlooks the main power conduits that extend down from the ZPM interface room. Thus concludes our tour of Atlantis’ Main/Control tower!
Please click the link on the initial post to see other behind the scenes pictures as well as ones not included in this post. As a parting gift, here’s a beautiufl shot of the tower at night!
