I just had that conversation with a friend @Raven. There is a possiblity for a ligitamet game were Dr. Doom, Sephiroth, and Darth Vader could mash up.

I think Star Wars tends to be better when George Lucas hasn’t fully touched it (i.e. Empire Strikes Back). I have not gotten into many of the EU stories, apart from the video games and the recent comic with Darth Maul. I’m excited for this Regardless of who is cast/directed. I often miss the lightsaber battles.

J.J. Abrams might not be bad, as long as he tones down on the lens flares. It does seem confusing to have the same guy direct Trek and Wars though.

This is a good thing, he’ll use an alternate universe to explain Episodes I-III!

Honestly I think that dude will be a good match for this sort of thing. He’s really good at the scifi but tends to get carrier away in his own craziness over time. Because a movie is comparatively short, that should not be an issue here, so he should be really able to shine.

    Guess who, it's Kaosubaloo!

It will involve time travel and lens flares.

The first time a lightsaber is powered up, the lens flare will blind everyone. That and force lens flare will now have to be a cannon ability.

I apologize in advance for making fun of everyone who made a lens flare joke. It was just such a universal reaction had by all of the internet that… well, it happened. State of the Empire coming soon.

Don’t worry, Cap. I forgive you, even though I never actually cared about Abram’s proclivity for lens flare. I liked the films I’ve actually seen, including Star Trek. I am not a movie critic, and personally think the people who look too hard at films so that they can’t enjoy them are stuffy blowhards. Just use your MST3K mantra and you’ll be fine.

Now all we need is an overall plot line. Like everyone else in the world, I would kill many people for Thrawn stuff. Literally. It takes a village. Dying.

I wouldn’t go that far Flawed. Some of those stuffy blowhards are filmmakers themselves. For example symbolism in films is great, I ask myself why did they do that, is there a meaning behind that x behind that guys head? For example the lens flare’s in Star Trek were meant as a symbol of how clean and bright the future is. In The Departed a X was behind the character’s head that was about to die. Don’t get me started on The Graduate, there is a bunch of symbolism in that movie. It’s when director’s start using a technique that is synonymous with them that I get irritated. Zack Synder and slow-mo Bay and his 360 shots, M. Night and his twists, each of these are great technique’s but once they are used over and over it just becomes tedious and loses any meaning that the shot could have had. At least that’s my opinion.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind symbolism in a movie, but if I feel like just sitting down and being entertained for 120 minutes, I am there to sit and have a story told to me. Sometimes analyzing a movie is fun, but if you do it to a degree to where you just can’t even enjoy the movie for what it is, then why bother?

When I watched Star Trek, I couldn’t muster up half a damn as to why there was so much lens flare. Perhaps I knew the reason subconsciously, but while I was watching the movie, I just wanted to see what crazy antics Kirk, Jim, Spock, et al were getting up to.

This is all just my opinion of course. Perhaps I’m too easily amused, but being easily amused is a lot better than being difficult to amuse.:)
