Season 3 Ghostbusters Resurrection is here!

ghostbusters are back!!
@doug, is game time relative to real time, are you recording this game on or around halloween?
for anyone: my take on having the french ghost chef in house could end up being a disturbance, for a undead creature that doesn’t seem to need to sleep has all the time to operate and would bleed into everyone’s sleep. not to mention would require constant resources for food experimentation.
the question is: Wouldn’t this ghost be a burden down the road or should i just leave it as a fun aspect of the show and not think on it too much?December 31, 2016 at 1:09 pm #55513
Just listened to the first two episodes. Loved it, though my only question is that did you really have to off Egon? I already mentioned on Twitter that he was alive in my GBRPG Game also set around this time, but it kinda felt wrong to off him especially after the year we’ve had in real-time with so many more beloved icons dying in real-life. I know Harold’s gone, I still miss him and my biggest sadness was that I never got a chance to meet him in person and tell him how much of an influence Egon was on me. My only hope is that his ghost is still hanging around the firehouse and helping out ala (SPOILERS) Jenny from the IDW Comics if you’ve been keeping up with that, as she died in the last issue of International, but stayed around to help out. I only hope Egon’s still there or that the New York Team will find him there eventually. It actually reminds me of what someone wrote on GBfans Forums as a fanfic in response to the remake to try and make it better. Here’s the link if anyone’s interested: http://www.gbfans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=42499. I basically consider this to be the Halloween 6: The Producer’s Cut of the remake that sadly we will never have, but it does fix a lot of the problems I felt the reboot had.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. For what it’s worth, I still REALLY enjoyed this episode, and I look forward to what’s to come in the following episodes. I assume this means you guys are also back on a Wednesday Schedule or will it be Fridays now? Or is it going to be huge gaps in between? I’m not asking to be annoying or impatient, I just would like to know.
Having visited Orlando many times (and I still hold out one day I can visit you guys while I’m actually physically down there and we can do a crossover episode with me in person after my upcoming post-credits cameo), and I actually have been to Pirates Cove Minigolf. That last hole is tricky and on a number of occasions, the ball has left the Minigolf area by accident, so I could only imagine what millions of raining golfballs is like. Martha’s Vineyard has its own Minigolf Area, so hopefully we won’t have to deal with that on occasion.
But all-in-all, outside of a few hiccups, a great start to a new season as we’re about to ring in the new year. Keep up the great work, guys! My Live Show’s coming along perfectly and I’ll let you know how that goes when we’ve done it.December 31, 2016 at 6:00 pm #55517CatKeymaster
For release we’re shooting for monthly and I suspect it’ll be the end of every month. Probably not Friday, and definitely not at night. Maybe Monday or Tuesday.
I can’t speak for Doug, but as I recall Egon’s death was merely a reflection of our real world. If original universe GB movies were coming out and Ramis died, Egon would be dead or written out. At the recording Poole was wearing his jumpsuit with a Dr. Spengler memorial pin on it and it seemed only right to acknowledge that he was gone, heroes are mortal, and he wouldn’t be available as a supporting character anymore. We recorded the episode in February, long before the real stigma of 2016’s volatility and celebrity mortality had surfaced. Maybe if it had been more recent it would’ve seemed like too much of a bummer, but it’s the reality the GBs have been playing in now for a year’s worth of recordings.December 31, 2016 at 6:04 pm #55516DougParticipant
@pseery80, we did do some recording close to Halloween, but the game has been ongoing for a while now. I’m going to do my best to release one episode a month, but so far we’re seven sessions in, and it’s still Halloween night. We’ll see where the gang takes it.
And yeah, don’t overthink the French chef ghost too much. It’s just a fun little addition to add some more flavor. Eh? But down the road? Who knows? If he ever got too angry, the GB’s might have to bust him again.
@rgbbr, the situation with Egon was a very tough decision on my part. Ultimately, I’ve always wanted GBR to be tied as close to the movies as possible. And now that Harold Ramis has passed, we’ll sadly never get a chance to see another performance by him. So I figured it was time to retire his character from our “universe.” In fact, during the recording, half of us were wearing the memorial pin. So it would have been weird for them to be talking about “Egon” as if he was still with us. Again, it was a tough decision but I think it was for the best.
We don’t have a specific day for new releases locked in yet, but the next release will probably be the start of our “regular schedule.”
Thank you both for the encouragement. I hope this season continues to live up to expectations.
EDIT: Just saw that Cap responded while I was writing this. He sums it up pretty good.

It’s all right. I debated keeping Egon alive in my game when it finally came time to play it. I ultimately decided to keep him in since A) I wanted it to be played more or less as I originally wrote it back in late 2009, and B) IDW has provided more than enough continuing stories with Egon in it that has literally become my comfort in the years that Harold left us. Sure they take place in the early-to-mid 90s, but they still show attention to detail. And they acknowledge US, the fans. I hold nothing against you guys and he can always show up again in the future, I’m sure. Happy New Year! Watching the GB Marathon on BBC America. I hope that in this rough future, we’ll be able to get more comfort with new episodes monthly. Best wishes!December 31, 2016 at 7:21 pm #55521CatKeymaster
Oh! And I should add that there’s kind of an episode 0 to this season that’s available to Nerdy Show Network patrons at all levels. It’s 20 minutes of pre-show prep and debating about the changes and expansions that the Central Florida GBs have undergone in the years between seasons.January 1, 2017 at 3:13 am #55522
Flavor was well placed @Doug, no complaints about the pun.
If you are still planning on having a q&a for GB I want to pick your brain about having this npc showing up.
Side note: I hope this season turns into 24 style show. The day from HellJanuary 1, 2017 at 10:53 pm #55523
@doug, I just realized two things that I have a question about.
Ray mentions that there’s a new crew running around at the Firehouse in New York as well. Are any of these new recruits the Ressurection Universe’s version of the Extreme Ghostbusters? The IDW Comics? The 2011 Sanctum of Slime Game? The Remake? Or are they all just new characters? I just realized that and I thought I’d ask.
Secondly, I wanted to point out that the revelation of Occulto Veritas shocked me so much that I nearly missed a big connection to something that was all the rage last year. It’s funny because I’ve been planning my team’s third season and there is a moment where we do encounter that same thing that Occulto Veritas reminded me of. I won’t give away the name completely, but I will say that the story took place in 1983 in a quiet town in Indiana where “stranger things” happened in that neighborhood and there was apparently an X-Files styled secret government organization-made conspiracy theory that should be solved this year. Maybe. Possibly. Hopefully. Any chance said organization is involved with Veritas?January 2, 2017 at 2:48 am #55525BriggsParticipant
You know what the miracle of these two episodes was? I didn’t mess anything up or do something really really dumb.January 2, 2017 at 10:42 am #55526
Apologies, if I offened you, Briggs,
I just had that idea and was curious if that was to be the case for this season.January 2, 2017 at 12:20 pm #55527DougParticipant
@rgbbr, the new crew at GBNY is most likely a whole new set of characters. I intentionally didn’t go into much detail so I wouldn’t contradict anything the comic books might do. If they decide to use the Extreme Ghostbusters crew, then that’s what we’d adjust to. If the GBR crew ever needs to meet them for some reason, then I guess I’d make up some brand new characters.
Second, don’t be so sure about Occulto Veritas just yet. We only just started and this season has many twists and turns.

@doug, I see. I can tell you that Kylie from Extreme Ghostbusters is part of the IDW Comics as a regular and has become a Ghostbuster member herself since the start of Volume 2 of IDW’s series. However, her appearance in the comics seems influenced as what she might’ve looked like if she had been played by Winona Ryder had there been a live action Extreme Ghostbusters Movie back in 91. Additionally, Eduardo made his debut in the series towards the end of Volume 2, but has not donned a pack yet. Burnham and Shoening revealed that on one of the covers for the upcoming Ghostbusters 101 Series, it seems as though we might get an IDW Verse version of Roland. Burnham has said he has no plans to make an IDW Version of the Extreme Team at the moment, but Roland might be a new character with a different appearance. This has been the case in Volume 1 with Janine finding another boyfriend (presumably to make Egon jealous) named Roger Baugh who looked suspiciously a lot like Egon did in the Extreme Series. So who knows? That’s just a heads up there. But I think I may have a feeling that I know who these new recruits are if they’re not influenced by any members we’ve seen before.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens with Occulto Veritas. However, having played Telltale’s Batman Series, I will not be surprised if Occulto is just plain evil with no two ways about it.January 2, 2017 at 6:50 pm #55533
you know @briggs who to say you screwed anything up. maybe your actions were divine in nature, like the Big GM in the sky planned on you doing those things. and in the end didn’t all work out?January 2, 2017 at 9:45 pm #55534BriggsParticipant
I view myself as being an agent of chaos and organization. Act now, don’t think about it, but sit there contemplating possibilities the whole time in my little brain space.January 3, 2017 at 6:15 pm #55536
