ParticipantI have noticed this neat thing that people are doing called “mentioning”. How exactly does one perform this mystical art?
And are there any other forum related spells that we novice mages should be aware of?

MemberAnd as should be obvious but will mention anyway — that form of mention also gives everyone a direct link to the mentionee’s profile page…..

Participantis there a limit to the size of images that can be linked? I tried linking two from my tumblr stream earlier and it’s like it just eats the image code when you post it.
test from tumblr:test from DeviantArt:
*edit* yeah, neither of the two images I posted there worked, the first i attached through the “link” button, the second through typing the html by hand. When i put the post into edit mode, there is no code there at all.

ParticipantThe image tag itself is currently broken on the forums. Gundam would need to tell you the details but pretty much any and all images are of the non-working variety right now.
Here’s a good way to test this sort of thing: If there are limits like a size limit it will not eat the HTML tags that create that image. On the other hand, any tag that the forum for whatever reason does not support (Lists, for example) will be edited out of the post the moment you hit the post button.
Guess who, it's Kaosubaloo!

BlockedI don’t believe you.
That’s not to say you aren’t correct. Yes a lot of those html tags don’t work. Not sure why. Access limitations seems out of the question as I am a site admin, but what I’ve been using is this post I created a few weeks ago. http://nerdyshow.com/nerdyforums/topic/formatting-posts-with-bbcodes/

ParticipantHave you looked at your post in that thread lately? it appears all your code is the same color as the background and you can only see it with a drag select.

BlockedRemove the asterix. I had to add the asterix so you guys could actually see the code. Also as a c++ programmer I will always prever [] to <>
Fixed the white text on topic content. Css miss on my part.

ParticipantSo here’s a new thing: Didn’t we used to have timestamps on our posts? Because I would REALLY like to get those (back). As it is, once I get into a topic, I’m struggling to find the spot where new (to me) posts start, where as if I had time stamps on the posts I could use that as a reference for this and other tasks. So…pretty please?

MemberActually they (like the new forums up to now) had those “posted 5 minutes ago”, “posted 3 days ago”, etc, time stamps in them. I personally — as one who checks in several times a day — had gotten used to those, since I could remember how long it had been since I checked in last. Now I have to think about what today’s date is first and compare to what I’m reading (and if I get confused and remember today’s date wrong, I could be looking at an old post while thinking it’s current), THEN look at the time, so the regular timestamp is actually MORE work than the previous “posted 3 hours ago” timestamps….
But the date/time timestamp does provide more specific info, so I suppose I can put up with the extra effort if it helps others to figure things out more precisely. If there’s any way to turn on BOTH it would be nice. There’s lots of room after the date/time timestamp to include something like the old info in parenthesis like “(3 hours ago)” or “(2 weeks ago)”…

Participant@gundamking Totally off topic, but why does it say that I cannot start new post at this time?
