ParticipantI am resurrecting a topic that gained a little bit of traction on the previous forum, but this time, I hope for even more feedback! So what machine do you spend your time on, be it gaming, chatting, programming, etc.? Pictures and nitty-gritty details are welcome, and totally recommended.
I’d like to introduce you to my rig, The Wizard’s Tower:
Specs:
Intel Core i3-540 Sandy Bridge die @3.1GHz CPU (may upgrade this soon)
Asus P7H55-M Board
8GB DDR3 RAM (from various sources, half of it are Corsair Vengeance Blue 2GB sticks)
500W PSU
nVidia GTX560 1GB DDR5 GPU
2.5TB Hard-drive space (not in RAID)
All inside an Antec DarkFleet-10
Despite what my username says, I am certifiably flawless.

She’s an intel i5 3570k ivy bridge, geforce gtx 660Ti 2gb, 16Gb dual channel ripjaw, MSI thunderbolt, thermaltake Overseer tower, 650w psu Computer.
And we will be streaming video games and such, every single night.
Tonight, we’ll be streaming

MemberConsidering the Thunderbolt capability, I am surprised you didn’t call it Dash.
That motherboard is sexy. All the fun parts of life are optional.

ParticipantAlright, done streaming for one night, Luna and I will start back up tomorrow after I get off work. Thanks for everyone who dropped in and helped me get the settings up to par.

ParticipantOOoh sexy computer insides. Nice parts man. I love building a new system. Hopefully like 6 months from now I can post up my next rig’s stats. No more LED’s on my cases though.

ParticipantDeja vu… Seriously, this almost looks like a straight copy/paste of Kahalis’ thread about Luna and his Livestream…
Anyway, who else has got specs and pics? Post em!

Keymaster@Flawedspirit It…is? The threads seemed so similar, I thought it made sense to merge them. Was that a mistake?
May 19, 2013 at 6:21 pm #31380Raven
Member@Cap Seems fine to me to merge them. We missed a proper PC porn thread anyway.
PC (the name is super original, right?)
ASUS P6x58D-E
Intel Core i7 950
6GB Kingston RAM
GeForce GTX 460
1TB WD Caviar Black HD
Sound Blaster X-FiCase is an Antec P-183

Participant@Cap Oh well. Moar tech porn for all.
@Raven Oooh. Shiny. And true to my word, I am indeed upgrading my processor, but it’s gonna cost me more than I thought! All the Core i5s that’ll fit into an LGA1156 socket are being phased out, so that means I had to buy a new motherboard with an 1155 socket as well! I’m going with this motherboard and this CPU. They should arrive by the end of the week, though since tomorrow is a holiday up here (Victoria Day) it may be slower.

MemberSo I just ordered a 4gb GTX 770 and feel a sudden need to tell the universe about it. I also learned that the “FTW” acronym in EVGA board names literally stands for “For The Win”. Also, I think the universe needs more computer porn… I mean PC pictures, so I figured this was reason enough to cast some thread necromancy. Also, here’s a Razer Naga Molten because it’s pretty.
Some further discussion topic : I wonder if the Nerdy Show ever was interested in doing some “PC building / what’s new in the computer components world” segment? The Steam Box and Steam OS seems like an interesting thing to talk about, too.

InactiveThanks for res-ing this thread @Raven, I plan to post my new build here in a few weeks. Until then I can dream for a bit…
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/12Dlj
I have a 650W PSU, wireless N card (with external antenna!) and a optic drive I can carry over from my current POS…er I mean “Antiqued” computer.
The overall goal was to get a new comp that had a little longevity. Quality parts now, quick upgrades latter.I was looking at THIS case for the new build, but it has some seriously bad reviews and the case fans review just as badly. Its so pretty tho…
