I had an idea to make a movie or a miniseries about the server. Just in time for Halloween, it would be a zombie horror flick with each episode highlighting a different feature of the server as it gets overrun by zombies (in most cases)

The villain is zombies. I already have the beginning and end in my head. Just have to work on the middle bits and a script.

Say is there any mod that we could put on the server to allow people to spawn mobs? That would be helpful.

@Kah – Normally you as the villain would make sense. However this is minecraft, and on the SoA I have the stronger lore for being a villainous character. Frankly, I’m the King freakin’ Creeper, and also am, in fact, powered by you (or my mountain is anyway…)

@Mechs – Similar thing as with Kah. Zombies would fly and work great in Minecraft normally, but this isn’t just any Minecraft, it’s the SoA! And frankly using Zombies here seems like a weak choice when you have so many better (and more low-actor-count friendly) villains to choose from.

I’ve kinda worked out some of the details. The outbreak starts and at first we try fighting, but there is just no end so we go into hiding, fortifying our homes, until they get overrun and we escape into the nether and make an isolated island there.

First of all: You aren’t even listening to us, are you?

Second of all: I very much doubt that any zombie could overrun my strongholds, to say nothing of something like your ridiculous fort. This is another reason that Creepers would make better villains; The whole exploding thing makes it a lot more credible when they manage to get into your stuff.

Actually, you could easily do monsters — film those parts on the last released version of the server, which is pretty much up to date, either on a private server or on your own computer.

You can have the SOA architecture, and any monsters you want.

I think this is a great idea. If you need help in any way I would be happy to offer my assistance. Also (i assume it will be filmed without a HUD) players could fill the role of monsters by simply using various monster skins (Zombie, Vampire, Slenderman etc). This would also give you more control of any given shot. (unless the shows format will be more like the Yogscast)

    @Avin I’d thought of that.

    @Kao

The main reason I don’t want to use creepers is the collateral damage. Second and perhaps scarier is, in minecraft you can die then respawn, but after you become a zombie you stay a zombie. Like if we’re about to be savaged by zombies we can kinda escape by killing ourselves. I am open to another kind of monster we can use like this. Maybe endermen.

Oh. I like the idea of a SoA movie tribute of some kind.

Though, I have to say I’m not so sure about the zombies. I’d have to side with Kaos and his suggestion that a plot which revolves more heavily around SoA lore would be a stronger tribute to the server than plain zombies. I suppose there’s nothing against using zombies per say, but I think the focus should be on SoA lore and not the zombies.

I’d suggest you use the current discussion on whether or not to reset the SoA as the pivotal reason for certain events happening on the current server. There might be a legend (possibly narrated by Galdap at the start of the movie) about how all the nerdy structures on the server emanate special nerd powers and that when all of these are wielded by a single person he or she would became an omnipotent force with untold powers.

Some inhabitants of the server, after hearing the prophecy of the server facing its final hour, will venture out to gather this power to save the server, either by combat or forging alliances. Others might have more devious plans, trying to gather the power of the nerdy icons to rule the server with an iron fist for all eternity!

In the end, depending on the outcome of the current poll, either the server is saved and peace is restored or the fight over the nerd icons leads to the destruction of the SoA as we know it (and the birth of a new server)/the prophecy comes true and the server is reset despite everyone’s efforts.

    Or something like that.

We could highlight many great SoA structures, many of their contributors and have some kind of strange adventure at the same time.

I think that’s a more powerful plot then ‘zombies’ at least. Though, perhaps if you were to give us some more details about the plot you had in mind, Mech, we’d actually be able to give more constructive feedback on you particular idea.

I like that idea. There is so much story we can create from current structures, structures that were never completed and abandoned mid build. I think everyone should try here to list the structures they built any story behind them fact or fictional and the location for them, also stories they have of other players so that we can build a story based of off them.

Fore structures I built there is…

Mount Creeper – The master of which becomes the Creeper King and also has control over Kahalis’ Powers

The Wall in the Middle of Nowhere – My first structure on the server and a mysterious wall seemingly guarding nothing

The Death Sphere & Anti-Zombie Dome – The former is an extremely massive dome the interior of which can not see the light of day where as the later is a glass dome designed specifically to be Zombie-proof

The Fume to the Castel – A now obsolete travel system

The Nerdy Show Space Sign – Pretty much what it sounds like

The Water Gardens – a series of underwater gardens. May or may not be a vacation home for the King Creeper

The Land of Fleece and Fleeing – This was founded by former inhabitants of the lands around Mount Creeper before the return of the King. Some of its features include a massive gorge, a half-ruined Castel and the site itself is built around the mid-way tower of my Log Fume.

The Golden Saucer – An unfinished but huge and impressive structure. It was originally meant to cater to the rich and famous but funding ran out. It would be an excellent place to had from just about anything in, as there are only 2 ways in and both would be easily barricaded.

Torterra – Giant Pokemon with a city in its gut. Probably not a good place to hide but if you bring enough torches to properly light it nothing is getting inside.

Stargate Command – The lower level of this facility can be quite effectively locked down, but there isn’t really anything to eat. So it’s a good temporary safe-haven but you will eventually need to leave for supplies.

That is stuff that I have build (not including roads). However I also administer Kahalis’ stuff, including such sites as Kahilopolis (or whatever his unfinished city is called), The Temple of Evil, The Death Sphere and the (Ruined) Dirt Castle.

Wow kao. All I’ve made is a rail system, a dungeon, my mega fort, and a half finished temple. Anyway I was thinking the enemy could be griefers. Though I’d like at least one part, preferably in the end to be in the nether on an island. And by that I mean a lump of netherrack with no netherrack around it, in a sea of lava with just bedrock above it. While being chased the heroes run across a bridge as it blows up behind them. If anyone wants to get started on that, go ahead. I’m thinking the griefers force us back into hiding, trying to build secure places but they get over run until we escape into the nether, breaking what portals we can find the isolating ourselves so we can build in peace.

    Well I built

White Lantern – Burnt down by griefers.

Pool Table – Burnt down by griefers. Currently being rebuilt by Konga.

Death Star – My first thing I built when I joined the server. It’s awesome.

Captain America’s Shield – This thing is also awesome, built it before colored wool existed so I had to get creative to get the colors right. You will find it on the road to Kahalis’s Drown Ball court.

Corneria Castle – The first of the two FF buildings I built. An exact replica from the NES version. Really wish I could build scarecrows to represent the guards.

Earth Cave – One of the long ago abandoned projects of mine. I finished the first level and for some reason never went back to it.

The Long Tunnel – I remember when carts didn’t work that well and we really didn’t go that far away from spawn during the alpha days. This tunnel took 3 and a half minutes to walk down.

TwoThums Tower – My Tower. It over looks the area that I declared mine.

Smelting Plant – A factory that is made out of Obsidian. The walls are lined with smelters. Over a 300 smelters are in this plant. Enough to smelt 8 large chests and still have a whole wall with empty smelters.

Dungeons and Doritos sign – Because I could

TARDIS – Every world needs one.

Atomic Robo Head – 8-bit theater at the time was the only clevinger work to get any love on the server so I built this to show that 8-bit theater wasn’t the only awesome thing he did.

Whammy – For the TV-build-a-thon I built this because I like the game show. Wish I was better with redstone, i would have made a fully functional Press Your Luck game if I could.

The Bio-Domes – My current work in progress I don’t know if I will finish it in time though.

Peanuts – Well I love Charlie Brown and for the TV-build-a-thon I decided to build monuments to the show. Including a working music box with the theme song.

Underground Forest – I don’t think to many people know about this one. Triforce Mike found it accidentally one day. It’s just where I grew trees.

    My short list of builds.

Flux Capacitor-My first structure. Just add 1.21 gigawatts…

Sinestro Corps Central Battery-Beware your fears made into light!

The Blue Lantern of Odym-I never got around to making the waterfalls.

Serenity-My tv buildathon entry. A fine ship if you ever need to out run alliance patrols…..or Creepers.

Superbrothers Sword and Sworcery EP Scythian Sprite-I have not finished building this one (i spent to much time writing the name)

Alright, listing all these will be useful, though, if you want to further explore my suggestion we’ll probably first have to figure out who’d want to play a part in the story and in what capacity first.

From a story telling perspective I’d suggest we let the main hero/focus of the story not be an established name but someone who has freshly stumbled onto the server and gets in the middle of things. The antagonists and allies of this character will then be our normal in-game personas with their particular background and what have you.

    For myself it would probably be something like this;

Kutsu Shita, the benevolent ruler of Special K Island, seeks nothing more but to enjoy his peaceful island and leisurely build things from time to time. His peace and quiet is often disturbed by the mysterious inhabitants of his island, most notably the people who write the Special K Gazette. Much grumbling often ensues. Kutsu Shita isn’t one to put much weight on the prophecy of the end days and would prefer not to get involved, whether or not that will be possible when living on an island with a number of nerd icons remains to be seen.

If the movie comes by Special K Island, or the Galactica perhaps, I would probably be some kind of supporting character, but there’s more powerful SoA personas who’ll take a bigger role in the story.

    My projects;

Special K Island – Including several sprites, a little town, the spire, a Varla Stone and my humble abode.

The Legend of Zelda Experience – VG Build-a-thon entry

Shenron’s Cave – Made for the DBZ community project thing which fell through or something?

Minecraftstar Galactica – TV Build-a-thon entry

So we’re back to me being the villain?

Seriously though, my role would be probably more along the lines of token-evil team mate. Useful to have around and really powerful but can also be pretty annoying and probably wouldn’t be getting along were it note for the extraordinary circumstances. This is my interpretation anyway.

    Persona Analysis
Kaosubaloo is the former King of the Creepers and as such is a powerful builder. Even though he has given up the mantle of the King he still possesses the powers of Law and the Creeper powers are still there from his taking. When not building tourist attractions or infiltrating the homes of ex-subjects he enjoys traveling the world and harassing other denizens of the SoA with his instant trans-location ability.

Having written a few dark prophecies himself he puts a lot of weight into the End of Days and is in fact very concerned by it (he enjoys terrorizing the server too much to destroy it himself). Despite being somewhat villainous he is probably one of the most likely regulars to pop in and out of the narrative on a regular basis and he would certainly get directly involved if his home based became targeted.

Fwu. Now that that stuff’s over with, I’m going to put forward the following: I can probably come up with a good plot synopsis from a script to be built from. I’m not so experienced at writing proper scripts but I am pretty skilled at coming up with outlines for this sort of thing, so I can probably come up with something pretty fun.

Oh, and does anyone have any suggestions for a protagonist?

I’ve made very few things, but I can list a few things:

-The Grandest Causeway: Envisioned in the darkness of the fabled early server era, when the land was pristine and empty, the Grandest Causeway was designed to link Spawn to what was once the edge of the known world.

-The Old Sanctum: Amid the vast cliffs of the storm wracked eastern coast, a vast wall of pure obsidian rises, enclosing what was to be the stronghold of Flawedspirit. Unfortunately, the project proved too costly, with very little return, so the whole thing was scrapped. However, the wall remains, standing vigilant until the end of days.

-The New Sanctum: Flawedspirit built up resources, and schemed (and plotted too, always plotting) to build an ever cooler and more useful (and probably more defensible) structure. To that end, the New Sanctum was built nearby. Construction is ongoing, but continues at a rapid pace…
Within the New Sanctum are greenhouses, farms, redstone test chambers, and one of the largest foundries on the entire server, churning out vast quantities of materials like cobblestone and glass.

    —–

My role in the film: The intelligent but somewhat cowardly person that is kept around as a guide/specialist but isn’t much concerned about fighting.

Well, the ultimate ‘evil’ of the story would always be whatever power is behind the resetting of the server (from an in-game persona point of view, not talking about whether or not we think the server should be reset). But I’m still hoping for some strife between SoA personas to keep things interesting. Ultimately the whole story might turn into a united SoA against the apocalypse.

I think right now we can make as many story ideas as we wish, but we can’t really come up with a proper plot until we know the pieces of the puzzle, and most importantly that would be the characters that will be a part of the plot. Depending on how many people we’re going to have we may need extras to play other people that are encountered, possibly plot related or maybe just random people. There may be some skin switching involved when it comes to this.

I like the idea of a silent protagonist. A Gordon Freeman if you will, or a Chrono. Perhaps at first he gets dragged into trouble by one of us, but once he gets invested in the server and its plight he will more or less begin to silently lead us, since we’ll probably be too busy bickering and getting involved in shenanigans to get us anywhere. Having him as ‘the screen’ would make the movie a lot easier to film, though, he’ll probably need a skin for some scenes for which we want to pick a different view than a first person one.

I don’t think we need monsters at all, but they could still serve a purpose at some point. It all depends.

@kaobeingthevillain- no, the villain has taken residence in mount creeper.

@kutsu- i think i would be the one to drag our protagonist into trouble because i started awful community ideas like the castel and my awful subway. Both of which could be used for the film. Also- Monsters are needed because some are antagonists, like endermen and creepers. not so much endermen because they need houses too.

@everyoneelse- silent protagonist, from third person, script, etc., small party, like 3-4 people (probably four so when a split-up scene comes it’s evened out), evil villain/group of villains, quest guy who pops up everywhere, and skins for roles. you can make them or have someone else make them. like me. I will happily donate my skins as long as there’s a bit of credit. blah. let’s start working on dem puzzle pieces.

So I suppose I should ask about details, aka:
-Voicework? (I assume we’re given lines and record them ourselves? Or will you be recording them from skype/ventrilo?)
    -Any rough start date set?
-Any details of a plot worked out?

-I’ll think of more when I’m not dead.
Despite what my username says, I am certifiably flawless.

@Antipax I don’t think enderdragons will spawn in the overworld.

And wont it be relatively hard to use in game mobs as enemies if we are going to be working with controlled shots?

I’ve worked out a few more things. The main enemy will be griefers. They don’t start in Mt Creeper, but it is the first place they attack and take over. They also found some bedrock and turned the spawn point into a prison so if your other spawn point is taken you’re trapped. The lawmen have diminished powers in this. Teleporting takes time and has a recharge time and we can only kick. Mods are none existent. I need help writing a strip.

I’d be in if If I can finish my current project in time. I could fit whatever late-coming role you may need, should I be available for that.

    My structures include:
the Cat’s Lair- home base of a force of feline fighters complete with materials center, weapons locker, and underground farm.
The Grand Chair and Vimak- created as tributes but can be used as high strongholds in dire need.
remote Shadow Dojo- probably not the best place to hide inside but the area is quite defensible and farmworthy
(and I almost forgot) Zordon’s Command Center- once lit up it can be a fortress

All I can offer up is:
Salamandastron – Volcano Fortress of the Long Patrol hares and Badger Lords. Equipped with smelters, farm, stocked arsenal(iron swords only), barracks, guest and officer’s quarters and a partly stocked kitchen.
MjollnirMK86 on the Server of Awesome. Formerly Polysics.

Here is my (very) rough draft of the script for what I want to put together, final part notwithstanding.

    Plot Synapsis for SoA Movie
Part 1 – Griefed at Spawn
We open with the narrator. “Once, this was a great place…” Basically a (very) brief recap of server history, following into the prophecy of doom. While this is going on we see a clipshow of some of the stuff that fill not be featured in the movie, until eventually zooming in on spawn and our protagonist. He shall be known as…Steve.

He is new on the server and starts building something, but it doesn’t take long before he’s assaulted by the villain of this piece: A Greifer-bot. It wastes no time in blowing up both him and what he was building.

Steve respawns to the FoA and at this point things start looking grim. Though he just respawned the griefer bots (as many as possible) are quickly heading for his position, and they look like they mean business…which for them means menacing with TNT. It is at this point that Steve is saved; Twothumbs Instant Translocates onto the Part and quick-bans the bots, removing them from the server. He then turns around and introduces himself to Steve before explaining that the ban was only temporary and that the Griefer-bots would be back soon.

Twothumbs continues by saying that though he was able to help this time, something has been interfering with his Lawman powers and he may be unable to help in the future. With this in mind, he suggests that Steve should migrate to the relative protection of that Castel.

    Thus ends act 1

Part 2 – The Road to the Castel
Though the pair has decided to go to the Castel – Twothumbs to escort Steve before returning to his own stronghold – they quickly realized that the journey will be harder then they first suspected. All Nether Portals near spawn had been shut down in an attempt to slow do the spread of the Griefer-bots. Add to this that the normal express ways have all either been destroyed or are heavily populated by Griefer-bots and the only way to reach the Castel is by taking the scenic route.

With this in mind the group heads down the High Way to Hell, the oldest road on the server and one of the relatively ungriefed ones in the hopes of finding a surviving connection to the Log Flume. The journey is largely uneventful until they reach a nexus point onto the cpt_fletcher Skyrail, where they are ambushed by Greifer-bots. Not only does this show the bots using higher-then-expected intelligence but it also marks the first time a lawman is totally ineffective; Twothumbs is seemingly powerless to stop them and though Steve manages to get onto the Skyway safely it takes a heroic sacrifice from Twothumbs to do so, blowing up the path back in the process.

Saddened by the loss of this friend, Steve continues on, reaching the Flume platform before long and taking it to reach the domain of B1 and Bferlin. One of the Bs (whichever we can get ahold of) sees Steve and decides to take Twothumb’s place in helping Steve reach the Castel, via Kao’s Log Fume(sic). The journey is, again, uneventful until they reach the Mid-way station and Land of Fleece and Fleeing.

As they climb the tower they see something in the distance; a wave of bots walking across the tundra, presumably intent on reaching the Castel themselves. But what no one counted on was the Ground beneath them being booby-trapped. All the bots suddenly explode as Kao reveals himself in one of the towers and laughs like a madman “No one touches the Land of Fleece and Fleeing! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…”

The group lingers for a moment, stunned by the sight they just witnessed, before Kaosubaloo himself appears before them in a flash. He tells them that they are welcome to stay for a time but that to do so means to be at his mercy, and that even he may not be able to hold back the griefers forever. Seeing the site for himself, B worries about his own lands (closer to spawn and directly in the path to the Castel) and parts ways with Steve, leaving him to go to the Castel under Kao’s more frightening but at least for now safer protection.

    Thus ends Part 2

    Part 3 – Mechs’ Fortress
We come back to Steve making the final approach to the Castel on the Fume; the sites are amazing, but it isn’t long before he sees that here, too, the Griefers have struck

A massively huge fortress looms on the horizon, covered in lava and bleak to the eyes. Before him is Mechs’ fortress. He approaches the ominous structure and attempts to find the entrance. Eventually he finds something that resembles it, but it has been barricaded. When he approaches he hear’s a voice from the other side, Mechs’ name can just barely be made out from through the rubble.

Mechs’ immediately accuses Steve of being a Griefer and tells him to go away if he doesn’t want to respawn; he know this day was coming and spent months preparing until his fortress was impregnable, and he’d be damned if he let anyone inside. As Steve turns around he is shocked to see Kao standing right behind him, and he’s holding explosives. Steve quickly panics before Kao delivers his ultimatum: Mechs will open his door or Kao’ll blow it up. The lawmen need a place to gather and come up with a plan to deal with the upcoming end and the fortress is probably the best place for it. Even so Mechs will not be moved. He is content in his fort and the rest of the server be damned for all he cares. Sooner or later the server will be destroyed anyway so it may as well be now.

Kao responds to Mechs’ statement by Translocating behind him and beating him to death with a baget; a petty gesture that none the less helps cheer him up. He then tells Steve to Journey further into the Castel, which is in fact the name for the whole land and not just Mechs’ fort, where he will find someone nearly as safe from which to make a last stand.

The Part ends with Kao translocating off again and Steve making his way to where he was told he would find the Saucer.

Part 4 – The Golden Saucer & the Stand
This part starts with the Golden Saucer on the horizon and Steve rapidly approaching. He enters the structure and is shocked to find as many people as we can round up for it (Mechs notwithstanding) in the Saucer. It turns out that since they couldn’t meet in Mechs Fortress they decided to hold their meeting here instead. Exposition proceeds to be smacked down.

It turns out there is a prophecy about the server’s end of days and that according to it these events will surely lead to it. Not everyone agrees that the prophecy can be taken seriously but everyone is concerned with the ramifications if it is true and can agree that regardless of prophecy, the situation must be handled now before it spirals any further out of control. It is now that Kao appears, providing the final piece of exposition:

He knows how the Griefer-bots have spread so far-so quickly. It seems that some powerful griefer found his way into Mount Creeper itself and managed to steal the power of the Creeper King, something that should have been impossible. Still, it happened and with the incredible power of the Mantle and everything associated with it he was able to become the Griefer King and spawn the endless amounts of Griefer-bots. As this vital information comes to light an explosion is heard outside.

It seems that the Bots are here. The part ends with the Siege of the Golden Saucer by the Bots imminent.

Part 5 – Journey through the Nether to Mount Creeper
It doesn’t take long to decide what to do next. The Golden Saucer is well-build for holding up in but it is not built to withstand a coordinated assault. And eventually the bots will either blast their way inside or else bulk up until they can reach the more vulnerable upper-reaches. The Saucer also has a Nether portal and the group plan to use it to travel through the Nether to Mount Creeper and confront the King.

Kao, having built the Mountain himself, is still able to infiltrate it and tells everyone he will make sure it’s read for the group’s arrival before vanishing before them. Anyone who we only have for a limited time also agrees to stay behind and hold off the Bots here so as to buy the attacking party more time. With last goodbyes the group departs into the portal and the Nether.

For its part, the Nether is largely unchanged. The Griefer King has access to the Nether via Mount Creeper but for some reason or other has largely ignored it with only a token force patrolling it. However at some point after the spawn-portals were shut down it seems he damaged the rail system such that it is no longer operable.

The trip through the Nether is, for the most part, surprisingly quick, and serves largely as a respite from exposition and action before the finale. That is until the team approaches Abydos Temple and is stopped by Kao once more as he exits the Stargate portal. Kao tells them that taking the portal straight into Mount Creeper is dangerous, as part of the King’s powers is knowledge of anyone within the Mountain. Kao is immune having been the previous King himself but for the rest it would be safest to drop in from above and keep time inside the Mountain to a minimum. He urges everyone through the portal, starting with Steve. But just as the wavy portal-ness starts happening there is an explosion behind him!

The act ends with Steve flung into the far reaches of the space between the Nether and the Server and with the fate of his companions unknown, seemingly betrayed by Kao.

    Part 6 – Displaced to Special K
When he wakes up Steve finds himself at Special K island. Kutsu is there and curious how Steve got here. He is aware of the problems on the server but his home has largely been left alone so far so his interests in the problem are minimal. He invites Steve to stay but he declines. Kutsu is about to wave Steve good luck and goodbuy until he here’s the adventurer’s destination.

Kutsu comments that he is always eager for another chance to one-up Kao and decides to go along with him to Mount Creeper, to keep him company if nothing else. The act ends with the duo walking down the H-way, fast-approaching the Star Road.

Alright kao I have a few things I’d change about your script. First I’d rather switch the first part around so the griefing happens before the narration. 2nd I think I would let you in to my fort at least. And there wouldn’t be a door in this situation. Plus even I know my fort is too large to be guarded alone and it has a few fatal flaws that would allow griefers to invade it. Personally, I’d rather have the griefers behind you so I teleport you inside but they get in and we make a desperate run for my nether portal and break it from the nether side.

Regardless, I want to have the regrouping spot be my nether island. The construction is going well so far on it and it’s quite nice. It’s got farm land and a few buildings. I’m planning on having a bridge to it that we run across as it blows up behind us. Since it’s isolated the griefers can’t get to it for a while and it gives us a chance to eat up and recover. After an early point, if dying with your spawn point being the normal spawn should be a death sentence. As in they cannot be brought back. After we regroup I don’t care if we leave the sanctuary.

@ Kao Maybe some of the builds we go to can be other peoples stuff? I know Mech fort is one of them but I am pretty sure every other one is yours. I realize I get killed in this early on so I don’t expect TwoThums Tower to be one of the places. But you have Studio World of Minecraft (wow build), Kahalis drownball court which I forget who “owns” that now, the assassin’s city, mopkins place, cat’s lair, and many others. Let’s show off as many people’s builds as possible with this. Even if some of them in the beginning when mentioning lawmen or however the opening narrating goes show off people’s builds as you say it. That’s just my two cents.

@Twothumbs: That is actually a big concern of mine, and I am quite open to suggestions for other places I could write in. One of the reasons it moves around so much is so that there is more stuff to see but even so I would like more stuff that isn’t mine to be used for something like this. Unfortunately I think seeing Twothumbs tower in the main narrative is unlikely since most of the plot is spent going the opposite direction…

Whether or not there’s too much of my stuff in here though, some of the stuff that isn’t mine that’s featured is:
    – Spawn and everything around it
    – Nearly every road and transit (Basically anywhere it is an option to use a road I didn’t build)
    – B1’s Cathedral & Bferlin’s Place
    – Mechs’ Fortress
    – Special K Island

And that is just stuff explicitly mentioned. As for diversifying the settings, is there a nether Portal at Trench’s place? It’s probably unlikely that we’d be able to use him but if there is a portal there then we can use his Castle instead of the Golden Saucer with no real impact on the plot at large.

Oh, and as for some of your specific suggestions, I manage all of Kahalis’ stuff (so that would also sort of be mine…) and the Cats Lain would, in fact, be passed on the route I describe for reaching Bferlin’s Flume. I’m not really sure where the other things you mention are but, honestly, the server is so big it is impossible to feature everything. I am quite happy to have come up with a reason to explore as much of the server as I have without destroying any semblance of continuity.

I’d also like to point out again that this is a really rough draft. Even write now, I think I’m doing too much stuff here so I’m probably going to do some combination of cutting that back a bit and making people who aren’t me do more stuff. Actually speaking of characters, I really don’t know who will be able to do what for how long, and the writing, I think, really reflects that. Most of it is set of for the bare-minimum of people required (which, incidentally, is still 3+ people for most scenes).

…And another thing (put in a different post for clarity):

There is a reason I haven’t written up the last part; because I wanted to do something different with it. It occurred to me somewhere around the 3rd part that this sort of thing would be better filmed in small chunks, or “parts” (hence using that term instead of ‘act’ or ‘chapter’). However, much nearer the end, it also occurred to me that a better use of the chunks is to, in addition to having a main storyline, take snapshots of what different people are doing at different times.

You see, I know what I want for the final part, but it is actually pretty small compared to the other ones and there is definitely a small bit about just me I want to put in there explaining how the frack I’m getting in and out of Griefer-prime. But if I get that sort of treatment then other people sure as hell should too! It’s supposed to be the gorram doomsday after all! It would be way more interesting I think to see for a few minutes what each person is doing to fight off the inevitable-ideally in a new location so that we can feature more structures!

Oh, and the last part the short version? Walk to Mount Creeper->Confront Griefer King->Kutsu trolls someone->It was Mechs all along/WHATATWIST->The King was stopped but Doomsday was not->Reboot->Demons Raising->My Two Bobs

What is this trolling you speak of?
    Doesn’t sound like something I’d do….

Anyway, quite a saucy little plot you’ve got there, I’m digging it.

My only concern is that once we find out King Grief isn’t the source of the end of the world, what is? You seem to have an idea of what is, I don’t know what the last two bits of your short version of the last act mean. Even so, the seeds and signs of this doomsday need to be around in one way or form in previous acts and probably also somehow related to the Griefer King’s madness in the first place. Otherwise it might be slightly too WTF.

    Anyway, I wrote a prophecy a few days ago, it obviously didn’t take into account this plot, but even so it might be of use;

    The Darkness

    People explored the furthest reaches
    Built momuments of greatness
Believing the land Serves as a realm of Awesome
Unaware are they, of the Darkness that cometh

    The earth heaves and rumbles
    Creatures mill around anxiously
Even the fiery pits of the nether churn ever more restlessly
They know of the Darkness that cometh

The sun will set on the lands
But four Moonless nights will follow
Only on the fifth will a foul moon rise
A sign that the Darkness has cometh!

There is indeed a nether portal in my castle… I just wish I could think of a better way of explaining how to get to the nether side of it other than its next to the rail that Mechs built that leads to the area near his Dragon Ball dungeon and the D&D sprites. I had the coordinates for the connection in the nether, but I’m not sure if I still have them, I’ll have to double check. At the very least I know I put up a sign in the nether that says its a portal to my castle.

I wish I could participate, but from the sounds of it you guys are planning on doing this before I go on R&R next month(I’m waiting to find out actual dates, as of now I just know I’ll get 15 days from the day I land in the states at my final destination). The only things I built that were worth mentioning are the Tower of Sauron, the D&D sprites(wish I had had the time to add Barty and Lefty) and my castle.

If you do want to use my castle, the area that I had planned on building the town has only the tunnel entrance, and the castle itself has the stairway as well as 5 piston operated waterfalls as a means of entrance, one of them leading to the tower with the nether portal, but I’m pretty sure I closed them all last time I logged in.

@Kao Well this is a movie and the things we show don’t have to be along the path. Editing can fool most people. For example 9 out of the 10 people I asked “Who got thrown out the window of The Avengers trailer” guessed Captain America. That answer is wrong since Tony Stark is thrown out the window and you see Captain America fall out a window. See editing fooled the people. It happens all the time. People will be driving down Queens and make a right turn and end up in Manhattan. Battle LA was shot in Baton Rouge.

So what I am trying to say is forget about what is on the path to the Castel and think about what you can use and in what ways. For example We could use Trent’s End of Time in the last part, maybe Steve get’s blown up but at the last minute one of the admin’s saves him. We don’t know he is an admin since he will look like the old man from End of Time instead of their normal admin skin. Have it at the end so the people who sacrificed themselves could be standing there giving him advice before Steve goes. End of Time could have a special property that could send him into Mt. Creeper or maybe send him somewhere to get the power to enter undetected.

Since you give Mt. Creeper special properties give other sites special properties. Like maybe King Grief turned my smelting factory into a bot factory and that’s how they are getting created to fast. Maybe B1’s assassin’s can come and save people at the Gold Saucer or wherever you change it to. There is so much we can do since it will be a movie to fool the audience into thinking certain things happened. Build set extensions to make it look like something is somewhere it’s not.

Once again that’s just my two cents. BTW I do like the script.

@Kutsu: The last 2 things (well 3, actually) are references to Reboot and don’t really mean much of anything. As for the server going down though, my idea was that there was simply too much damage done too the server for it to be repaired. However if anyone has a better idea then please do not hesitate to share.

@Trench: 5!? I went to your place yesterday and found 2 of the waterfalls and spent half an hour trying futilely to find the entrance to the portal room. Which, for reference, I knew existed because I could here the portal, but was totally unable to enter.

@Twothumbs: The editing thing is true to an extent but at the end of the day most of the stuff on the server looks fairly distinct, and the stuff that doesn’t, well, let’s put it this way: Filming part of the Scene in the Land of Fleece and Fleeing in the town of Nowhere maybe doable, but I’m sort of defeating the point by saying I’m in the Land of Fleece and Fleeing. Furthermore this sort of thing would be primarily for the people who go onto the server, which is a group that generally is going to know that Twothumbs tower is nowhere near Mechs’ Fortress. To take from your examples I don’t live in NY and most urban areas tend to look the same so that sort of thing is going to fool me, but you can bet I recognize landmarks for things filmed near me (which in Vancouver is quite a lot), and personally I’d rather maintain a continuity that I know to be plausible. Oh, the thing about other structures with powers is a good idea though; I’ll try to put some of that in my next draft.

@Raven: That is a good idea, although at the same time the other side of the SoA is better for showing of Grief so I’m not sure where to put it in. Still, it should definitely be featured somewhere.

My bad then Kao I was kinda hoping to make it to not only satisfy the members of the server but to also bring new people and to showcase the talent of the server to the other minecrafters out there. In fact Digital Diamond showcases regularly amazing things that people do and I was hoping we would create something that would be enjoyable to people who have no knowledge of the server.

What if at the very end the heroes fail to stop the assault of Griefer prime, King creeper or just whoever the final boss is and that antagonist is successful in fulfilling Kutsu Shita’s prophecy and brings about the servers last day (as the server is being reset). Then the protagonist and his party would need to escape the servers destruction (perhaps into space) and at the end would discover a fresh new world.

@TwoThumbs: I don’t mean to say that no-one who doesn’t visit the server would enjoy it. On the contrary I’d hope lots of people would. However this does not change the fact that I’d rather stay internally consistent and that calling one structure a part of another defeats the purpose of featuring it.

Yeah but think of some of the epic things we can do with some simple set building and greenscreening.

Here’s on and it features one of your builds, Torterra. Maybe have Steve run onto it with whatever lawmen is protecting him at the time and using green screen we have closeups of steve and the lawmen with the scenery changing to give the illusion Torterra is moving. Then for the shot of them getting off we simply build the top of his head. Could be done that simply. One thing I learned in film is to not limit yourself based off of preconcieved notions. Look at everything you got and weave it together. That’s my last two cents on the subject. If you still want to make it basically a Grand Tour of everything between spawn and the Castel and Mt. Creeper go ahead but I think that is a limited scope of what our server has to offer to people.

Kao you haven’t responded to any of my suggestions. And I’m dead set switching around part 1, and having the last regrouping spot be my sanctuary.

@Twothumbs: That is actually another good idea that I didn’t think of. It does raise a problem inherent in adding powers like this to structures though: Namely that unless I built it, I probably don’t know what an appropriate power for it is. Something like Torterra (literally a giant Pokemon) is fairly obvious (although I still didn’t come up with it) but most structures are static building that I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with.

Now I’m going to stop right there and say something else: I’m not saying we shouldn’t do this stuff. What I’m saying is that the best way give powers to structures is for people to actually suggest powers for their structures to have! The Torterra power (moving) is a good idea. So is the factory thing for Twothumbs’ factory. They two ideas also happen to have something in common: they didn’t come from me.

…And now I’m done with that subject for now. NEXT!

@Mechs: I’m not sure what you mean by switching around part 1. If you are talking about what I think you’re talking about though then I’ll give you a blatant no. It is already implied that Griefing goes down before the events of the film and showing it happen to Steve makes the message a lot more clear. Furthermore the fact that I’m not actually Griefing any preexisting structures means that most of our shots aren’t going to features Griefed structures either, making an overemphasis on it in the intro just silly. Although now that you mention it I will need to make sure to take a shot of the Dirt Castle at some point.

Also: The sanctuary (assuming you mean your nether Island here) is quite frankly a bad place to be featured prominently. I’m sure it looks good but it is literally an island in the middle of nowhere. The whole point is to show off our structures and island in the middle of nowhere doesn’t do that unless you’re talking about Kutsu.

That said, I’m not completely objected to using it, but not for any major scenes in the main story arc.

@Whoever: As for as the next draft, I’m going to try to expand it into a more proper script. In this case I think I can come up with 1 or 2 parts a day. I think the best way to put this together will be to do it one part at a time. We probably don’t have time to do it all if we wait for the full script to be finalized and in the case of the first part at least it’s not going to take too many revisions.

I’m not a lawman on the server itself, but would I be able to play one? An awesome scene popped into my head of several of the server elite grouped in a dark room around a table, war room style, squabbling about the best course of action.

I may get to work building the set. Something appropriately grand and atmospheric enough for what the scene would entail.

@Kao For part 1, I simply want to switch the background narration with the griefing part. For that I’m thinking we could have someone down in a random mine. He hears a noise and comes upstairs to find his wooden house on fire with lava everywhere. We cut after we see him flee back below ground then go into the background narration. And for the sanctuary, I’ll show it to you. It’s pretty nice looking and isn’t just an “island”. I’m making it into a small city/town.

@Flawed That idea occurred to me as well and I support it. Though I think the scene should end with an attack.

Maybe a cool little thing to do that can bring even more server things into the story.

Black Mage cult could be sided with the griefers since the whole ending the world and causing suffering is a Black Mage thing.

We could have specific landmarks hold inside of them legendary artifacts that Steve will need to defeat the Grief King. For Example the Epic Sword is held inside Cat’s Lair (Sword of Omens reference), and other things like that.

What do you think. These are some I just thinking about last night before I went to bed. I got some more let me know if you want to get the list of monument powers that I thought of.

@Twothumbs: Please, send me the list. I am very interested in seeing it.

@Omni & Twothumbs: That is also a good idea, although not necessarily in the main plot (more on the later). However isn’t the Master Sword a better place for a sword?

@Mechs: Now that I know what you mean with swapping the narration & the griefing that’s actually not a bad idea. Still no to the other thing.

@The main plot thing: Since chances are we’ll release this in chunks anyway (and even if not we can still do it like this) I was thinking that in addition to the main plot line which follows exclusively Steve we could also have Day in the Limelight-type parts that focus on specific server-members. The most dramatic place for this, of course, is during that last 2 parts of the main plot, but there is no reason at all we couldn’t do this sort of thing earlier in the plot as well. Furthermore it let’s us be more consistent with the tone, as we can put comedy relief as well as particularly dark segments in the extra parts.

    Any thoughts on this?

On a different note, here’s my idea for the opening:

First the griefing event. Then roll the title and credits while panning by several of the best structures (that aren’t going to be featured later), then go into the narration. And I think we should use “World of Pure Imagination” (Gene Wilder version) for the opening song.

I think its pretty rad to do these extra scenes to give more projects and citizens of the server some screen time, though, for now, I’d stick to getting Steve’s story up and running before we worry too much about tangents (fun and exciting they may be).

    Talking of the main plot…

How did Kaos end up losing/giving up the Mantle of King Creeper? This may not actually be something we want to elaborate on in the story, but perhaps something we want to keep in mind anyway. Because of Kaos no longer being King Creeper the Mantle was up for grabs and King Griefer could be born. Which leads to the question why any member of the community would want to become King Griefer.

I like to think that the Mantle was sought for a pretty good reason, but that somehow the power and corruptive influences of the Mountain twisted how things panned out. Clearly the great power of the Mountain allows for the creation of incredible monuments (probably the reason for seeking its power in the first place) but ever so subtly the Mantle suggested more and more twisted acts.

Perhaps taking the power of the mighty forge was meant as another means for even greater building, but then its power in the end got used for the creation of Griefer Bots. Perhaps even they were not entirely ill intended, at first, just meant as automated guardians AGAINST griefers, but soon equipped with explosive capabilities and a mission to secure ever more potent structures and subdue would be Griefers with rather extreme prejudice (Otherwise why would they go to Mech’s fortress? They probably suspect Steve to be a griefer).

The Grief King at that stage becomes more or less the puppet to the will of the Mountain, the true force of evil behind the coming apocalypse. Through the corruption of many of the server’s structures it manages to poison the server and tuns it into a giant bomb. And like a creeper it will eventually hiss, blink and explode and leaves nothing but loose blocks and smoke. Basically leading to the eventual demise of the server, even after Steve manages to defeat and redeem the Grief King.

King Griefer probably doesn’t even realize what is happening, thinking his actions may be a bit unorthodox, but with good intentions. That is at the very least what the Mantle will whisper to him. That’s also why he can freely take off the Mantle and pretend to be just himself if need be, though always eager to pick up the Mantle again and continue to strive for a ‘better, bigger and stronger server’.

In the end the destruction of the server will come with a large kaboom, but with the King redeemed and the server pretty much united, the end of the Server of Awesome as we know it is only the beginning of a new world. Much like we believe our own universe was born out of a Big Bang, so shall our new Server of Awesome.

    How does that sound?

I think this is a pretty reasonable way for our antagonist to be created and behave. Though, would it be consistent with Mount Creeper lore and what not? I basically just made a bunch of assumptions.

Actually Mount Creeper is supposed to be corruptive to an extent, especially when it comes to someone becoming the new King, so that idea is pretty solid and goes a long way to justify some of this stuff (although how much we would actually feature is another matter entirely). The one thing I would add to it is that as much as the Mantle may be corrupting him, the the stuff he is doing ultimately come from his own paranoia.

I also really like the Destruction bit, although of course no one in character is going to know that.

Script: Part the first + Some notes.

Some notes: This one is mostly Narration. Not much avoiding that but at least it gets most of the exposition out of the way. It is also worth noting 2 things about the dialog: First of all, if the person I’m writing dialog for, please feel free to suggest better dialog. I mean, seriously, mine is really not that good. And secondly, I think it’s safe to say that Ad Libbing will be VERY strongly encouraged during filming, so keep that in mind for the dialog.

Part 1 – Griefed at Spawn

(This first part is shot from outside of Steve’s perspective)

We open with Steve in the distance, zooming in as he builds the foundation for a house out of basic materials. Steve is new to the server and doesn’t have much of that fancy stuff. While he is building the audience (but not Steve) can see a Griefer-bot approaching. Once it range it immediately starts shooting him. He is taken by surprise but manages to survive the assault. Only it is too late as moments later the Griefer-bot comes in point blank and explodes.

(This will probably be done with a goodly amount of TNT under the site and controlled by a stagehand)

It is at this time that the screen fades to a slideshow while the narration plays:

Narrator: Once, this was a great place; a place of adventure and impressive creative feats; The Server of Awesome.
Narrator: In the beginning, before Beta, the Server was created, and the Deni-Gods reined. Under their warring rule the serer prospered and much of the now-plentiful resources were created. Times were good, but they wouldn’t last forever. Eventually others would rise, over time the old Demi-Gods would grow weary of the server, and in the case of one, Kahalis, would have his powers Captured by one of the new guard: The Creeper King.
Narrator: Under the new groups rule the server continued to prosper, and what’s more it began growing like it never had before. Growing and growing until it encompassed a massive scale and no map could hold all its contents. The size was so great, in fact, that something terrible was drawn too it: Griefers. They had always been around before, but they were rare and manageable, and this new wave of Griefers brought something else with it as well: It brought Fear.
Narrator: The Griefers were in greater numbers than before, and some of the server’s denizens grew paranoid of them, building further and further away and making increasing sacrifices in futile attempts to avoid them.
Narrator: This problem is more recent though; the “Griefer-Bots” are something new and dangerous, seemingly ruled by a new Griefer, more powerful than ever before. To make matters worse, these events occur on the eve of a dark prophecy predicting the end of the server itself!

    The Darkness
    People explored the furthest reaches
    Built momuments of greatness
Believing the land Serves as a realm of Awesome
Unaware are they, of the Darkness that cometh

    The earth heaves and rumbles
    Creatures mill around anxiously
Even the fiery pits of the nether churn ever more restlessly
They know of the Darkness that cometh

The sun will set on the lands
But four Moonless nights will follow
Only on the fifth will a foul moon rise
A sign that the Darkness has cometh!

Narrator: …Or so the profit spoke.

As the narrator finishes the camera switches back to Steve. He has respawned in the Fortress of Awesome and Griefer-bots are approaching his position. The Griefer-Bots are obviously carrying TNT.

(The Camera now is Steve’s Camera view. This could be Third- or First- person, to be decided later on, and will be the standard perspective for the film)

Shortly before the situation looks hopeless, TwoThums teleports to Steve’s Position and bans the Bots, forcing them to leave the server. He then turns around and introduces himself:

TwoThums: Hi, have you seen my Pants? I’m TwoThums.
    Steve: …
TwoThums: Ahh, I’ll never find my pants. Anyway, that ban won’t last forever and I might not be able to help next time so you should get out of here soon.
    Steve: …
TwoThums: Is that so? In that case you should go to the Castel. I don’t think there are any Griefer bots there yet and there are more Lawmen who can help.
    Steve: …
TwoThums: No, I can help you get there, but the Bots have invaded my own land and I can’t stay away too long before returning to deal with them.

(This Narrator part is only for if the Part is shown separate from the other parts. It should be edited out if the Movie is filmed as a single video)
Narrator: And so the new team set out to Parts unknown, hoping to reach the Castel and the wonder and safety it could provide. Will they succeed? No one knows for sure, but STAY TUNED TO FIND OUT.

One of the funnier things I have not told you is that since I build pretty much completely opposite of the castel area I have no idea where it is or how to get there. Heck this could be a perfect time to add a little comedic ala “Wizard of OZ” some people go this way type of scenario. I think I may have teleported to the castel once but I don’t think I walked there before. With that info in mind I don’t know if you want to change it at all.

@Kao, sounds good, though I'd rather it not be steve griefed in the beginning. And if the grief bots just explode why not make them creeper-men? Also is my character supposed to be good or evil, and if evil, am I trying to be. Cause I have a great idea of something I can do if I am evil and trying to be. @Kao My appologies, I remembered incorrectly, going on four months since I've been on and all. Theres only four floodgates, three of which you'll find if you follow the wall all the way around. There's one near the cobblestone generator, the second you'll find by walking straight out the stairway cave door, past the tower on the right and following the wall left, The third you'll find by continuing to follow the wall, go up the stairway and climb the ladder to the next level to the keep's "back door"(or the raised area that's fenced so you don't fall off) There should be a pond up there that has the third gate. The fourth is located in the tower that you can't get into unless you know how.

… and my computer time is up, which is crazy since theres people that have been on longer than me…

Alright kao. Here's my alternate version for the first part. I only changed a little bit.

Part 1 – Griefed at Spawn

We open with a random regular walking into his mine. He gets to the end of a mine shaft and starts digging. Breaks one block, then another. Suddenly he hears a noise from above. A door opening or closing. Confused he goes to investigate. He climbs the ladder to his home to find it ablaze with lava and fire everywhere. He desperately tries to put it out but to no avail. (This can be an existing or new structure. It doesn't matter as long as it's made of wood and has a mine below it.) Finally he flees underground only to be confronted by a griefer-bot who has placed tnt all around the base of the ladder. The guy cries out as the griefer-bot lights the tnt. We fade to darkness.

Open again with the title screen. Suiting music plays in the background while the title screen fades and the opening credits appear. During this the camera flies past several structures on the server. (They can be any but cannot be a place we visit in the film) After the credits have passed, the music fades as we transition to the fortress of awesome and the narrator begins.

    Narrator: Once, (same from here)

Now as I've said I think we should use Gene Wilder's "World of Pure Imagination" because it fits minecraft's spirit so well.

Just realized the 2nd part needs to change to fit that. Just one thing on the narration, its prophet not profit.

As the narrator finishes the camera switches to Steve. He has spawned for the first time. He looks around in amazement at all he sees around him.

(The Camera now is Steve’s Camera view. This could be Third- or First- person, to be decided later on, and will be the standard perspective for the film)

Steve wonders off to start his adventure. Cutting ahead he's in what was a forest making himself a house. (I'm thinking Miracle of Sound's "Mining All Day Long" would work here but just the first minute or so.) As he's putting the finishing touches on he runs out of wood and wonders off to find some more, not noticing the figure peeking over some dirt. As he's chopping wood, he sees another person. He waves to them but the other person just stares. He gets closer but the person just stares. Unnerved Steve starts walking back to his house. He stops when he sees his house is on fire (have him drop some dirt blocks for added effect.) He starts running down the hill side but stops when he sees another person looking at him with the same blank stare. He backs up and bumps into the person by the trees. Suddenly they all equip stone swords and move in. More appear from the surroundings. Some with tnt, others with lava.

With a flourish (maybe in post production add an effect) TwoThums teleports to Steve’s Position. Getting between steve and the strange people, he raises his hand and with a wave at each they vanish. bans the Bots. He then turns around and introduces himself:

TwoThums: Hi, have you seen my Pants? I’m TwoThums.
    Steve: …
TwoThums: Ahh, I’ll never find my pants. I see you've met the griefer-bots. Anyway, they won't stay banned forever and I might not be able to help next time so you should get out of here soon.

Part 1 – Version probably the last

TwoThums: They're about this big, dark blue and they’ve got a zipper… Doesn't ring any bells? … No? … Man! I'll never find my pants!
TwoThums: Anyway the Griefer-Bots are resistant to my Lawman powers so that ban won’t last forever, and I might not be able to help next time so you should get out of here soon.
Steve: …(Steve thinks that's all fine and dandy but has no clue where to go. He's new and doesn't know anybody, like a poor, cute, lost puppy)
TwoThums: Uh…right. In that case you should go to the Castel. I don’t think there are any Griefer bots there yet and there are way more Lawmen who can help.
Steve: …(Steve doesn't know where the Castel is and wonders why TwoThums the Pantsless can't protect him instead of having him run through an unknown land to an unknown place)
TwoThums: I can help you out getting there, but the Bots have invaded my own land so it’s not safe and I can’t stay away too long before returning to deal with them.
Steve: …(It sounds as good as anything he could have come up with, so why not?)
TwoThums: Then we’d better get moving!

    – I have removed the prophecy from the narration with the intent of putting it somewhere during the second or third part.
    – Making a note to elaborate on the Demigods (read: Kahalis & Spacevagrant) later on as well
    – Props to Kutsu for helping with rewrites
    – We’re not going to give any indication that Steve says or thinks a damn thing. We will, however, occasionally have a character pretend that he did, quite possibly putting words in his mouth in the process. The Steve thoughts are more for VA cues for the people who are talking to him then anything.

As stated at the top, some minor dialog changes not withstanding (remember ad libbing is encouraged!) this will probably be the final version for part 1. What this means is that we can start filming it. For the actual filming bit we will need 3 people minimum and the beginning shot will require someone who can fly. In addition to this, both the overhead camera man (again, for that beginning shot) and whoever plays Steve will need something with which to record Minecraft with. As for recording dialog I can actually do that myself over skype or if you'd rather do it solo you can use a program like Audacity.

Now, time to start writing part 2…

Love the way this project is coming along, just wanted to put forward the idea that the griefer-bots could consider any new building to be "griefing the server" by modifing the landscape/other peoples work, which is why they attack all new buildings. Also they may be glitched to a very early point in the server so that only a few "old" strongholds are safe until any modifications are made to them which could cause the griefer bots to start showing up in the area to remove the error. Possibly explosivly.

I don't like the fact you haven't addressed nor seem to have considered any of the suggested changes I presented. I mean at the bare minimum you could have included the title screen. This is a movie after all. If you don't want my help just say so and I'll stop offering any advice. I do not like being ignored like this.

On a lighter note, if you want to remove my character from the script later on, I built a bedrock bunker that I can hide in to basically remove myself from the story.

A few points, then I'll be quiet again.

    1) I thought this was Mech's idea. Therefore, shouldn't he have some say in the plot direction?

    2) With a combination of Fraps, Adobe After Effects, and one of the block types in the terrain.png file changed to a uniform green color (preferably, a block that isn't really used that much,) you can film (using Fraps) the players, explosions, etc, separately using that block type to create a green screen, then when you load the footage into After Effects, set that block type's color to transparent. The gives you greater flexibility.

    3) If an area needs to be blown up, make a replica of it somewhere else, and blow THAT up. In effect you would be building a set.

    4) If you want slow teleporting, try using footage of a nether portal. Ops can spawn the portal by itself, without the surrounding obsidian. This would allow a portal to be placed anywhere.

So I'm thinking for teleporting we could try using portal blocks to link to the nether and when someone teleports in, they call out of a portal off screen.

Once we have some scenes recorded we should make a commercial/trailer.

@Kao Having a title sequence in the movie is nonnegotiable. Where it goes and what it looks like is up for discussion.

I have no problem with a title screen. I should think that the best place to put it is after/in the opening narration sequence, but we shall see.

For teleporting, I don't think we really need anything special, as most of the characters who will be doing it already have that power and for the times they don't we will certainly still have one or two teleporters around.

As for filming, I was planning on starting a (Pre-)Production topic in a few days for things like casting and keeping progress on set building and filming. Tht way we can keep track of all that stuff in a clearer environment and leave this one for general discussion. That topic will probably be up tomorrow or Friday, depending on when I have more free time.

@Kao, I meant for the teleporting animation. Since there isn't one, and lawman teleporting always has lag, it might look better. And I was thinking the title screen moves into the narration, but whatever. It should also be one of the last bits done, because it would just briefly feature some of the servers best works that weren't in the rest of the movie.

Lawman teleporting could just be us logging in. I don't notice much lag with that all we have to do is stand where we need to log out. Then using vent or skype or anything else where we can communicate with each other and say action then the lawman logs in. Should work. Remember with films sometimes it's better to K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid).

Yeap. I need to rebuild the texture pack since the update. But yeah. It's really easy to do.

Also as much as I like green screen as much practical effects we can do the better. So let's assemble and VFX team and do sample's of effects Teleporting, Ban Hammer, and other effects. Come up with a couple test shots for Pre-Production.

I would like to head this team up if no one objects. I just need someone with a great computer to capture the footage. My computer's age is showing and you can see some of the framerate issues in my Peanuts video. Once I have some volunteers we can exchange Skype names or use Vent whichever is preferred.

I could volunteer my computer for filming. My rig is fairly beast enough to handle rendering a fullscreen recording on minecraft with no framerate dips.

    Some basic stats:
    -Intel i3-540 CPU ~3.04 GHz
    -4GB DDR3 RAM
-AMD Radeon HD 4670 vid card
-About 800GB of hard drive space
    -Access to good editing software

Just got around to doing this.

It doesn’t matter as long as it’s made of wood and has a mine below it.) Finally he flees underground only to be confronted by a griefer-bot who has placed tnt all around the base of the ladder.
We continue passing by various features while the narrator speaks.
Narrator: Once, this was a great place; a place of adventure and impressive creative feats; A Server of Awesome.
Narrator: In the beginning, long before Beta, the Server was created and the Demi-Gods reined. Under their warring rule the server prospered and much of the now-plentiful resources were created, but the time of the Demi-Gods wouldn’t last forever.
Narrator: as they faded in time the server began growing like it never had before. Growing and growing until it reached a massive scale that no map could hold. The size was so great that something terrible was drawn to it: Griefers. And in turn this new wave brought something else. It brought Fear, and the server’s denizens grew paranoid. Further and further they built in futile attempts to avoid them. Old and powerful Structures were abandoned to the threat. And worse still it is now the eve of a dark prophecy predicting the end of the server itself!
As the narrator finishes the camera switches back to Steve. He has respawned in the Fortress of Awesome and Griefer-bots are approaching his position. The Griefer-Bots are obviously carrying TNT.
Cutting ahead he’s in what was a forest making himself a house. (I’m thinking Miracle of Sound’s “Mining All Day Long” would work here but just the first minute or so.) As he’s putting the finishing touches on he runs out of wood and wonders off to find some more, not noticing the figure peeking over some dirt. As he’s chopping wood, he sees another person.
I see you’ve met the griefer-bots. Anyway, they won’t stay banned forever and I might not be able to help next time so you should get out of here soon.

Steve: …(It sounds as good as anything he could have come up with, so why not?)
TwoThums: Then we’d better get moving!

Hey I just found out prerelease 5 has camera controls. Maybe we should update the server to run it so we can make better effects.

Not sure if Audiomachine fits into the mood of the movie, but let’s be honest. There’s never a bad time for music of this caliber.

Alright so I am not one hundred percent sure if this will go down but if so. I am making a custom texture pack for the camera guys. It has blue and green screens, and it also has all flowers removed and mushrooms to. This is so that the director and cast can lay down the flowers and mushrooms as stage direction. Since the camera texture pack doesn’t have it they won’t see it. This will help out alot especially with VFX and other things that require people to be where they are supposed to be. When I finish it and I know it works I will post it here for the camera guys to download it.

Wrote a potential script with some minor changes to the storyline so far. I had it now be Steve that get killed in the beginning. I did this because I wanted to establish that we no longer spawn because of King Griefer that death meant something now in the movie, that it was absolute. For that reason I couldn’t use Steve.

I took out some of the Narration and I kept the prophecy. Not that much else changed I kept the pant’s joke even though that’s my Oug Persona and not twothums. So download it read it and critique it.

Might I suggest Pastebin or even google docs? For a file like this that is probably a lot better.

Also hi, kinda had to drop this for a while to focus on other stuff. I have had a half-written script for part 2 for at least 2 weeks now and I’ve been meaning to post the production (well pre-production atm) for about as long.

As for the intro with Steve dieing thing, keeping in mind that I have not read your version, I think that having the intro be Steve is really just better. It introduces the character, the only one who is completely new to the server. It lets him he the threat and provides pretty good motivation fro what he does. What’s more, Respawning is sort of par for the course for minecraft and while taking it away would certainly validate the Griefer King’s threat, taking it at this point in the film (the VERY beginning) would be not so great for pacing. This is to say nothing of the simple fact that we’ll probably be exploiting the mechanic in later parts.

I mean, if nothing else I’d like to bring you back after you suicide to save Steve. >_>

Now then, I’m going to go and actually read that script you posted.
