This is the Golden Saucer:

And it is what I’ve been working on for the last week or so. As you can see, the outside looks pretty good, but I’m afraid I’m at a bit of a lose for what to do with the inside. Then I had a great idea.

You see that circular part on top? Well, that’s a BIG circle containing space for 4 large whatever (Picture coming tomorrow). Here’s the plan: I’m going to give away 2 of those penthouse lots to whoever gives me the best (practical) ideas for what to put in the inside of the place. This way I can share some of the project with other people and get help with ideas all in one fell swoop!

Now a few facts about this thing. It is located fairly near Mechs fortress and the Castel (with coordinates also coming tomorrow). The shaft keeping it standing is made from steel with the central stairwell and scaffolding all being primarily cobblestone (It’ll eventually get replaced with other materials). The shaft section is 18 blocks tall with the dome section being 8 floors for a total of 32 blocks of height, not counting the upper most circle. This means that a fall from the 8th floor to the 1st floor is lethal. That circle has a diameter of 64 blocks, and this thing completely emptied my secret stash of every block of gold in it (and around half of my glowstone as well).

Finally, there is a portal to the Saucer, but it is quite well hidden on the nether side. In order to reach it you need to literally pass through a different portal. This was a totally coincidental consequence of its location relative to several of Mechs projects, but it makes for fast, secure travel.

So…any ideas?

EDIT: Here’s also an older picture that shows some of the Scaffolding, since that’s pretty much all that’s in there right now.

Oh, and the jury is still out as to whether it actually resembles a Saucer.

Build the prison at the bottom. Let’s see if this was single player I would suggest a chicken track since you could use an inventory editor to spawn yourself a chicken spawner. But since that isn’t possible I say one of the addition you should add ( even though it would not be inside) is the Gondala that takes you to and from North Corel. The battle square could be made inside fairly easy. The main room is a black and white checkered floor with a purple carpet going to the arena. A counter and trophy display case is needed in the main area. As for the arena a fair sized circle surrounded by water with stone walls wising up to the spectator seats. Maybe you could use paintings to represent in a crude way the spinning wheel that added the status’s whenever you actually participated in the event. That’s my suggestion. But in order to build the gold saucer for real you would have to wait to see if notch actually raises the height level. There is a lot going on. I don’t think the Speed Square was entirely inside the Gold Saucer so you could create a cool roller coaster with Minecarts and have that be the Speed Square.

Name not withstanding, this is not supposed to be a replica of the FF7 Saucer. That isn’t to say I can’t add more features resembling it, but that isn’t really my intent.
