Participant@Cap if you want a no-prize explanation for machine gun lasers, you can blame it on heat dissipation, which is why actual Gatling guns have rotating barrels and there are such things as liquid cooled machine guns (prevents barrel warping from excessive heat). You could also treat your laser-ammunition as a series of capacitors that are spent after being fired. So whatever grade of crystal you have there is only good for a single discharge, and to produce the rate of fire you want you have to rapidly cycle through them. The latter is how lasers work in the fascinating science fiction book The Reaches, by David Drake. He took the nautical chronicles of Sir Francis Drake (I feel like he is descended from him, but maybe not?) and transposed them into space, and in order to preserve the single shot guns and canon on laser firing space ships, he had them all be single shot capacitor weapons.

ParticipantIt’s been awhile
Question time
Does Glamipre have his own Glamperor guard, a group of elite warriors with an unify look that makes them stick out?

ParticipantI have some questions about Dr. Kane Corso’s outfit. I’m using the https://lightningdogs.deviantart.com/art/Lightning-Dogs-Paw-dcast-Preview-Kane-642358838 image as a reference. I’m starting to gather resources and begin planning a cosplay for him. I have a trenchcoat pattern and am going to start there. Do you have any particular materials in mind for the trenchcoat? Right now I’m looking at bottomweight fabric for both the light and dark green sections, as I’m assuming they are basically the same material, just in a particular pattern. Just in case they are meant to be leather or armored I thought I would check with you guys first.Does his coat have a particular lining color or is it either the light or dark green of the outside? If it were possible a rear view of Kane would be amazing so I can get the trenchcoat pattern right. I’m starting in muslin and I have another cosplay to upgrade in the next month so it isn’t super urgeant. Also, does it have any pockets? I also was wondering about his knee patch thingies. Are they intended to be hard armor? Leather like on a professors elbow patches? or just a different colored fabric?

Keymaster@BigBad: Nah, Glampire ain’t goin’ all Snoke. Far as we know right now, his personal fortifications are all a wide array of security measures – including Nagel. If you’re close enough to him to warrant a one-on-one confrontation, Glampire himself will kill you. You’ve earned it.
@Garayur That’s freakin’ cool! The dark green I believe is meant to be a different material, like leather, with the rest being whatever dense as heck adventurer fabric you can get a hold of. No shame in using something that’s not gonna cost you an arm and a leg though.) The knees is something similar, but proably nothing as fancy as leather and maybe just a denser or double-thick layer of whatever the rest of the pants are made out of (He’s on his knees a lot after all). That coat is likely *filled* with pockets and he has standard pants pockets too. As for the rear… we don’t have that yet. I’ll see if @tony can provide a reference.December 31, 2017 at 2:53 am #59794Garayur
Participant@cap @tony Thank you very much. I’ll probably go with a pleather once I get my modified pattern made. Is there a particular interior/lining color for the coat? if not I was just going to go with another shade of green. The pattern I have has a couple of side seam pockets on the coat so I’ll probably keep those in. I’ll post progress pics when I get the muslin more put together. I’ll probably post more frequently to https://garayurcosplay.tumblr.com/

ParticipantYou know what’s kind of an under-rated guard design in my opinion? The Winkie Guards from Wizard of Oz. Maybe they aren’t under-rated, i just never hear anybody talk about them:

KeymasterMax, what the heck is that? Visionaries? (Trying to figure out the chest plate). Btw – a Visionaries/ Transformers comic comes out tomorrow so they’re on my mind.
That is a *really* tough question, big bad. Honestly I think the OT era Stormtroopers are the best design probably, but I’d love to offer up something more eclectic and interesting. It’s hard to make a blank-faced army of baddies interesting – especially when the point is generally cost-effectiveness, whether animation or live action. Speaking of – I’m not a fan of Doctor Who (at least modern Who, never have given time to the older stuff) BUT the Daleks and Cybermen are really great, weird yet classic designs that are 100% the byproduct of necessity. Who has a lot of samey armies in it and though the reoccurrence of that trope is a negative thing, they do tend to be kind of interesting.

Participant@Cap that’s a Cobra B.A.T., though the drawing isn’t especially on-model.
I’m glad somebody is doing something with Visionaires, that is a slept-on IP

ParticipantQuestion time
In a lot of media you see a lot of Good Guys becoming Bad and a lot of Bad guys becoming good so what is your guys favorite Face and/or Heel turns?

ParticipantIt’s interesting as a question; Usually face-turn bad guys are somehow diminished by it, and heel-turn good guys tend to be god-mode. I think the one time it didn’t damage the face-turn villain I can think of is Myria Sterling on Robotech. She is the best Zentraedi fighter pilot until she meets Max Sterling, the best Micronian pilot, and once they get married, they kind of both continue to be the best pilots as a family.
DBZ is full of face-turn characters. Piccolo and Vegeta are probably the best, though Vegeta is probably my favorite. He is the #PrinceOfAllSaiyans after all.
