The thing about the East Coast is that it’s deep, right? Also there’s nothing there to salvage, unless we’re talking about a submerged coast. You could make a case that the sea level has risen to the point that he could be based out of the appalachians and salvaging east coast cities that have sunk, but for me, based off of what the world looks like right now, if he’s in the states, my money is on the Mississippi delta. That gives him water access all the way up to the great lakes if he’s so inclined, but also has rich salvage opportunity just in that region alone. I’m also obsessed with cartoon portrayals of “the bayou” though, ever since i saw an episode of The Real Ghostbusters where they go down to NOLA for a convention and have a battle of the bands with a ragtime ghost. That episode featuers a blonde, white voodoo queen, and the terrain there is like cypress swamp with huge buttes sticking up out of it, which is like “what is this place even…”November 9, 2017 at 10:04 pm #58419
@max you forgot the greatest selling point of swamps…. Airboats and Airboat chases

If we’re doing the Dirty South as an aspect of Scrap’s landscape then we need a little taste of the terrifying Spring Break Forever lifestyles of Jason Feathers’ D’Oro:November 14, 2017 at 9:41 am #58434

I’ve been on a pirate kick since Team Four Star started their D&D streams and given that they are in a swamp with hick Gator people no wonder I’m down with a swampy pirate port.
And on I have to ask, Have you guys come up with the name of Scrap’s ship

HMMM! That’s a good question… I don’t remember! It’s entirely possible we kicked around some names at one point. I’ll need to consult the naming docs if we even made the note… We’re bad at that sometimes.November 20, 2017 at 11:49 am #58475November 21, 2017 at 6:04 pm #58482

Wooo late reply! Don’t know how I didn’t see this one come in,
So the clear answer is NOT whatever Beasthound is. That’s not a normal thing. But nah, we really haven’t defined any common species. They totally have creatures in that role, but based on the fun of designing stuff I very much doubt we’d ever bother to do a repeat creature.November 30, 2017 at 1:38 am #59614
On the subject of naming things, Has any thought gone into names for the countries on Domus? I know there are (or at least were) 2 major powers.
There’s a trope I’ve seen where military characters, especially when operating in foreign territory, will introduce themselves by mentioning the service they work for, e.g. “Sgt. William Duvall, United States Marines.”
So I can picture a scene, “Capt. Sebastian Redpaw, United Confederation Defense Force” (only not that, that’s terrible)December 1, 2017 at 3:58 pm #59619
Hmmmm we did have something that was at least a placeholder at one point for the “good” dogs… I know I’ve got it written down somewhere but damned if I can find it. I’ll report back!December 9, 2017 at 3:43 am #59637
I’ve started a public conversation on Patreon about TV episode length and format! Weigh in!December 12, 2017 at 1:28 am #59659
Important Setting Question: Lasers.
Do the laser weapons work like classic Sci-Fi blasters, firing short, distinct bolts, or do they fire continuous beams like actual lasers?
Also, do the energy weapons have recoil?
Basically how important are actual physics vs visual cinematics?December 13, 2017 at 2:03 am #59695
Amazing question! The style of the beam is entirely related to the crystal and the machine it’s plugged into. I just wrote a scene where I wanted lasers like machine gun fire, so I just did it. Idea being that whatever Wasteland cobbled together gun and lousy grade crystals makes short, rapid bursts more practical. But on average, and when it comes to the LDs, our laser guns generally work like GI Joe style laser guns. Solid beams are totally a possibility though – provided you’ve got some serious power to juice it with.
As for recoil, nope. Never imagined them with recoil.
