ParticipantIt always seems so artificial to me, but i’d say Fallout does it best. I tend to prefer the wasteland eccentrics that have adapted in super weird ways to the New Normal. Like the paper-trader from waterworld or the Elderly Cannibals from Book of Eli.

KeymasterAnything where rock ‘n’ roll is religion. It’s not too dissimilar from existence as we know it, but removing industry from music-making make people’s reverence towards it more pure.

ParticipantOne of the odder ones I can recall is in the novel Ridley Walker, how the whole world seems to be driven by Punch and Judy puppet shows. I was totally baffled by that detail.

ParticipantA bunch of music and movies definitely survived. As well as some buildings and monuments. But overall, the dogs won’t be able to recognize the significance. Most of the “intact” culture they see will probably be in their future home base.

KeymasterNothing super-specific yet, really. Mostly we’ve been focusing on mutated humanity-derivative culture in the Wasteland (which is many parts removed from the source – Like Taku’s misinterpretation of the backstories of his action figures, or what even constitutes an action figure) and cultural touchstones from Domus. That said, the LDs finding something intact is gonna happen. I love how the Nick TMNT series had them watching a different cartoon series every season and how that was woven into things and the LDs being able to interact and interpret something so unfragmented would be fun.

ParticipantI think it would be fun to do some sort of Night Springs style parody show in universe if it gets done at all. The question is an interesting one though. We see this kind of thing happen already when kids born in the 00s start watching 90s tv shows, and 80s tv shows, etc. The prevalent fiction of an era becomes a sort of fantastical version of that era. Imagine: you were born in 2001, and all you know about the 90s you learned from watching The X-Files. Or Dawson’s Creek, or even Twin Peaks…what would you even think about the fashion, attitudes, etc? It’s a fascinating phenomenon to explore.

ParticipantI’m planning to do it generally, but as to whether or not it’s an offical LD effort will be up to the gang I think.

KeymasterI’ve been thinking about it. I really love it. I imagine it’ll go much like last year. Best intentions but a spotty showing from me. Depends on where the pitch bible is at.

ParticipantI found some large gesso boards (maybe 18 X 24?) in my garage the other day, i’m considering creating a single large format drawing wherein each day i draw a little piece of it Kim Jung Gi style according to whatever the prompt is that day. I may or may not go live on Facebook with it; we’ll see.

ParticipantMax do you what 2017 inktober prompts
also Question time since some of the vehicles have nicknames, so do some of the weapons have ones to?

ParticipantAs far as I know, nobody has really put much time into the weapons, but I think it’s important. I’ve done a sheet or two of ideas trying to figure out what Domus’s visual language is, but nothing official or especially refined. There are some really iconic weapons out there in pop culture (Sword of Omens not the least), and I think weapons should be at least a second class citizen of the designs, if not a first.
