This could totally be the LD version of The Vanishing Hitchhiker for the halloween episode. they are on a mission to rescue Kid, who is trapped in one of Glampire’s cells. While the dogs perform a daring rescue, Kid forms a bond with the voice in the next cell over who gives her courage, and perhaps some secret mcGuffin through the vent in the wall. When the dogs show up, “We can’t leave without Tobin!” when they crack the door to the next cell, there are just bones and the scraps of a uniform….”But he was here…I TALKED to him!” “Come on, Kid, there’s no time, we have to leave!”

    Question time

here is a simple one have you guys made a playlist to help with the creative juices and/or any for specific characters?

It's about "SHOW TIME" so drop by http://demonlordm.deviantart.com/

We have a Spotify playlist for anything relating to Lightning Dogs. It’s not about anything specific, or even really for inspiration for the show. Think of it more like an audio version of our Tumblr.

@doug I was wondering when we were going to go public with that. I don’t think we’ve ever mentioned it, but it’s totally something we could share a bunch.

When I’m doing vehicles, and I don’t have random Netflix things on in the background, I typically listen to both of the Blood Dragon (Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Trials of the Blood Dragon) soundtracks by Power Glove. I’ve also recently discovered a series of dark synth megamixes on Youtube I like to have on in the background. I personally find vocal tracks a little distracting, so I prefer to get in the zone with instrumentals.

    Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon:

    Trials of the Blood Dragon:

    Best of Synthwave:

@Cap when I was looking at the episode page, I scrolled down to see the links and was just laughing to myself at all the disparate nonsense we managed to bring up in the context of cartoon vehicles, and that y’all subsequently had to go out to the internet and find. Good job editing this one! In my memory the conversation was all over the place

Yeah… there were some… challenges… Fortunately, most of the time topics always looped back around so that even if something went off the rails I could fit the matching pieces together.

That said, there is nearly 10 minutes of deleted content.

I love the new episode, really enjoyed Max talking nerdy chop shop.

that being said, it’ question time

with all the new, old, and sometime unknown media that you guys have been exposing to each other, What is your guys favorite thing you have exposed to during your discussion since starting Lightning Dogs?

That’s a tough question! So much water under the bridge…

Speaking personally, I really loved showing the guys (and in turn rediscovering for myself) the film Slipstream. It’s not a good movie, but there’s so much about it that’s super neat. The same could be said of a film that Doug and I found (Tony knew about it already) and we only just watched: Starchaser: The Legend of Orin. Beautiful animation, fascinating production, cool ideas… very not good in many other ways.

And then there’s Trancers. We haven’t even watched it yet, but Doug and I have some very special memories tied to discovering that. All this stuff is Wasteland Drive-In fodder and that’s starting super-soon!

Question: Is there a real pratical reason to make a morphing vehicle.
From bike to creature would such technology be needed or wouldn’t it be more feasible to have a robot creature that just has wheels fold out. Example being the mechs in the anime Blue Gender and the game front mission.
think of the artic robots, would they make a transformer or just have a car that thinks for itself or just make an atat or atst

2nd point (and if i am over thinking just say it): do humans name a vehicle or weapon after a nationality or a race? My car, the anglo saxon!
We name stuff after animals or old titles, centuran, spartan, ect. Would a dog society name something hound, or big dog. Lightning dog was used from the ancient dog that stood against the storm. Turtles named stuff after turtle because they were still creatures in mans world, on a turtle world they wouldn’t use the word turtle as often

3rd point: Dimond dogs are the team from stargate. Lightning dogs are like the explorer group from Disney’s Atlantis. Any vehicles would be pratical for whatever they are walking into. A fuel truck or command truck with scouts are cool.

4th point: does anyone remember the cartoon Centurions or the cartoon Dino riders.
Centurions tech was equipment that stuck to their armor
Dino riders were people using tech to retrofit the local Fauna of the jurrasic age

Is there a real pratical reason to make a morphing vehicle?

Of course not! I’m only suggesting it because it’s cool. Coming up with something wacky and figuring out a way to work it in is half the fun.

Do humans name a vehicle or weapon after a nationality or a race?

What we ended up setting on are more traditional, let’s say “heroic” dog names: Fido, Brutus, Rover

    3rd point:
I’ll just summarize by saying that’s an apt comparison and we did settle on the big command vehicle. (Makes for a great vehicle/ mini playset combo).

4th point: does anyone remember the cartoon Centurions or the cartoon Dino riders?
Very much remember Dino Riders! I really want to capture some of that animal battle gear vibe in LD at some point.

Don’t now that I’ve ever seen Centurions. Looked ’em up and rang zero bells.

But with Dino riders, they cannibalized their ship to give them the Dino half offensive capabilities. So like it’s your dog vehicle, worked just fine, stuck in sand but you make it still relevant

The Rover is a cool design. So, since this is official, the dogs do use ICEs on Domus? Most of the discussions that are out have strongly alluded to everything there being crystal powered.

@thebigbadshadowman So far, I was most surprised by “The Hunger.” I knew nothing about it going in (besides that Bowie played a vampire), only to find out it was Tony Scott’s first movie! “The Man Who Fell To Earth” had a different kind of lasting impact, but it was more a tonal/emotional one. Also, when we had our first Lightning Dogs discussions, I still had never seen any of Young Justice. Since then, I have seen all of it and it’s great! I’m looking forward to many more movies scheduled for the Wasteland Drive-In, as well as some video games and comic books I personally need to catch up on.

    @rjlikins
If I’m not mistaken, we eventually come up with an idea on how the vehicles sound like traditional cars while still using crystal power. Every time we sit down with Max, a whole bunch of crazy stuff gets invented.

Thanks for the shout-out, guys – it really made my day. I felt so invigorated by it that I decided to do some cleaning when I got home. In the process, I ripped my girlfriend’s birth certificate in half. So, I’m back to feeling like a piece of shit, but it was a good ride while it lasted.

    AROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
