G.i.joe movie had the best opening cinematic and song.
Related: transformers the movie was the same involving death on screen. But they were ushering in a new line of toys so
Unrelated: Transformers the movie had a uncut version where spike said shit.

Transformers has the advantage of being robots though, so killing one didn’t have to abide by the same rules as your GI Joes did. That’s I think why the Cobra B.A.T. trooper got introduced: so you could have a re-usable character that can consistently get mowed down.

That is correct. The same reason we have a droid army in the prequels.
And could you really get over watching prime dieing

This was a good run if the show. Straight and simple. I am curious about when any of this was recorded, @cap you mentioned that kay couldn’t help for long, making it sound like you talked to her months ago.

Loved the sketches and glad to hear you are welcoming 3rd party concepts. Having seen other people’s take on lightning dogs it good to see they are being recognized

Haven’t been on the forums for a bit…but the recent Lightning Dogs episode and the statement about listener/fan creations wanted me to pop into this chat and share this idea I sent to them last month. Which if it catches their attention could be turned into something for Lightning Dogs.

This idea came to me in a dream last night and I thought it was completely and utterly perfect for the Weirdness of the Wasteland and I am willing to sign paperwork to give it to you because I want to see this existing.

    Magical Canadian Beavers.

First my mind was taking Tanooki – Japanese folklore Racoon-Dogs Transformation, massive ballsacks – The stars of the Ghibli movie Pom Poko and use a Leaf in the transformation. (Like in Mario Bros 3)

Second Beavers – the most Canadian of all animals and Canada’s flag is a maple Leaf, they have that massive tail.

Combine them together in my mind and you got beavers being Tanooki’s less trickster-y cousin and combine it with the overly polite Canadian stereotype you have something for the Frozen North which you currently haven’t brought up yet. (The Robots are at the south pole If I remember.)

@pseery80 Glad it seemed effortless! That’s what shows successful art most often. Truth of it is: this episode was an absolute nightmare to make and was among the most serious Nerdy Show editing jobs in recent memory. There was so much conversation remixing to make sure that all these disconnected parts could fit together without having narration segments constantly. Even still, I’m fairly certain this is the longest narration track we’ve had so far. The primary recordings this episode was made out of happened on April 30th and May 17th, 2015.

    @shaded-spriter
Hadn’t had a chance to share the beaver thing with the fellas yet. I think there’s something to it, something a spirited discussion could potentially conjure to pull this idea into the Wasteland. And that’s the trick – because this is just a good idea in general. If you just said “Canadian Tanooki” in general I’d be sold. The real trick is… is it a good fit for Lightning Dogs?

Things that don’t have complicated answers necessarily, but would at the very least need addressing: Where does the “magic” come from? (So basically what science thing are we using to provide the magical effect?) Are they animals with some intelligence, or a culture of people? (We’re trying to distinguish the LDs as THE major force of talking animals, with the ninja cats being a surprise down the road – so we’re trying to keep other outright animal people to a minimum, especially whole races.)

    Question time

you guys made it clear that Lightning Dogs have tails in this latest episode, so does that mean that all their chairs and seats are made with holes for their tails or do they just sit on them?

Also I know that the Cats are a down the road thing but do their also have tails and if so could they be able to wrap their tails around their waist like a belt saiyan style?

I’ve always pictured them shifting their tails to the side or being able to lean back on them without getting uncomfortable.

For the cats, (especially the ninja ones) those tails are essential for balance. So they’d let them fly free. They’re probably not long enough to wrap completely around their own waist, but incorporating them into a “style” of some kind is not out of the question.

Tailspace in chairs will be a very common thing to see. Full disclosure: I don’t have a tail, but I’m pretty sure a society who had them would have some very unobtrusive ways of incorporating space for them. Openings or divots at the back of a seat for instance.

    Question time

The peoploids come in many shapes and sizes, but how big are largest and how tiny are the smallest?
as of right now in my head I see the smallest being knee-high and the largest being the size of a semi truck

When I think about them, I tend to use the shorthand of the Barbaroi from Vampire Hunter D. They are just crazy mutants of all shapes and sizes in a post-superfuture genetic soup.

Max’s example is 100% on point with my thoughts on peoploids. The biggest would be around, say, how Rhino (from Spider-Man) is usually depicted in comics. The smallest… yeah, knee high. What really makes a “peoploid” is intelligence enough to consider one’s self a peoploid – social grouping and the capacity to copulate and potentially produce a spawn of some kind. There’s some other intelligent creatures out in the wasteland that might not consider themselves as such and socially and genetically operate differently enough that they might as well have their own designation.

I have to ask because their few different versions of the Rhino do you have in mind, would you say about the size of André the Giant?

also I take it that these other intelligent creatures might be like the Inhumans and the peoploid are kind of like mutants, where they might look and sound similar but have very different paths of evolution and rules to them?

@thebigbadshadowman Using Cap’s Rhino reference, I figure it’s safe to picture the biggest peoploid(s) being about this size:
    Spider-Man VS Rhino

Although, I’m sure there’s only a small number that grow that big.

Yeah, that’s a good approximation, Doug.

To elaborate on the peoploid and not discussion, here’s an example we’ll get into in maybe a couple episodes:
These things we’ve been calling “potato people”, which are essentially a subterranean tribe of sentient things that look like bipedal, rooty tubers. They’ve got a unique language and culture, and they’re clearly 100% separate from the humanoid soup that created the peoploids. Stuff like that. So I think it’ll be pretty clear when you see something what would and wouldn’t fall into peoploid designation.
