@Cap and @Doug it’s been a week so it’s question time.
Halloween Jack did you guys ever settle on a type of voice for him?
I like the elvis presley/johnny bravo style voice I think Doug did in the last episode.
Also What style of helmet would he use (Full Face, Off road, Modular, Open face, or Half helmet) or would he change it up by having different styles for the different vehicle theme toy tie in episodes.

@thebigbadshadowman It’s answer time too!
I don’t think we’ll ever settle on a voice for Jack until we’re actually casting. I expect someone will surprise us with a read – something from left field that we wouldn’t have known to ask for. When we mock his voice we’re still kinda doing a monster cockney thing which I don’t feel is right.
We’ll probably see a couple different helmet styles over the course of the show, but most of our designs have had some degree of open faceness to it, especially once we decided on him having mandibles that could fold in like the front of a helmet.February 3, 2016 at 11:12 pm #51446
I do hope the mocking cockney voice does stay if only as a side character.
I like the mandibles that could fold in like the front of a helmet idea

while prowling the internet I came across this http://comicbook.com/2016/02/06/check-out-these-awesome-predator-inspired-motorcycle-helmets/ and it made me think of the early ideas of Jack’s gang

I have opinions on the helmet, inasmuch as how they might complement the car he drives. I think a partial to full open face is the way to go (not 100% sure if the eyes should be covered or not), with a pumpkin graphic on the helmet proper. Where the pumpkin vine would issue from the top I would put a helmet spike like you’d see on an outlaw biker helmet from the 60s.
There is a sketch of this even though it’s not my specific area of commission to work characters; I’ll leave it up to @Cap & @Doug as to when/whether WitnessMeBloodbag.jpeg gets shown. I haven’t posted any art here or anywhere since I started working vehicles officially.February 8, 2016 at 11:09 am #51597
Those Predator helmets are badass.
As for WitnessMeBloodbag.jpeg… yeah… why not. Let ‘er rip! It’s a rad image.February 8, 2016 at 1:43 pm #51619MaxParticipant
In that case, I’ll just leave this here, with the caveat that I was planning to add more to it, which is why the composition is a little sub-standard:

On this day three years ago, at about 8pm EST give or take a few seconds, lightning struck.
A beautiful creative accident during a podcast recording created the Lightning Dogs and our lives have never been the same.
Obviously on this thread we’ve been batting stuff back and forth, but you’re probably wondering what the hell we’ve been doing and what comes next. Well, first and foremost, howabout that awesome new emblem, right? That’s thanks to the design skills of Nerdy Show host Denika and some key preliminary work done by other NS host, Kay.
We released our last public episode, May 2015 and went behind the curtain while we worked towards our next move. (And we continued recording everything along the way). Well, our plans have changed. Developing our pilot for a scripted LD audio drama is still happening, but since the process is taking longer than expected we’re launching regular Lightning Dogs content of another kind very soon. The ‘Dogs have been away too long and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on. Full details as soon as we’ve got ’em locked down. Hate to tease, but just wanted to take the opportunity to mark the anniversary and share the new emblem.
Much, much more to come. #HowlnoiseFebruary 8, 2016 at 6:52 pm #51643Dee ArrisParticipant
Looking forward to seeing what you guys have in store. On a note, with the early access release of Pugmire, my party’s campaign slogan pays homage to Lightning Dogs with the phrase, “Never turn tail!”

The new logo is a howling good time! I genuinely enjoy the new look – I think it totally passes for an actual military patch. And it’s only been 3 years?? It feels like it’s been around much longer.February 9, 2016 at 12:23 am #51647wrldqueekParticipant
Sweet! I can’t wait for new LD content. How possible would it be to buy a patch with that new emblem? I actually just bought a backpack with those tactical Velcro strips.February 10, 2016 at 9:17 pm #51671February 10, 2016 at 9:43 pm #51672
We love the Bowie references, and I really can’t help myself, but these days we are consciously doing what we can to limit that and not rely so much on a single reference point/ influence again. For a variety of reasons.
If we feel ourselves going down a similar rabbit hole, I think we’d pull back. But ALSO if something irresistible comes up that we felt we could get away with without overdoing it, we wouldn’t limit ourselves.February 17, 2016 at 10:21 am #51756February 17, 2016 at 10:35 am #51757DougParticipant
We’ve discussed it briefly before, but don’t have any solid designs yet. Jack will obviously have some kind of Halloween theme. We wanted to nail down the main logo first before we tackled anything else.
