ParticipantFor anyone who missed the return of the Nintendo World Championships (featuring all American citizens), the entire event was archived on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
All four hours of it.
The actual competition starts at the 56 minute mark.

Participantthat Doom 4 Snap-Map looks like an incredibly well-realized level editor

ParticipantI just watched the DOOM trailers. I want that game now. And its current release date is December 31st. I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year!
EDIT: Ok… Amazon lied to me. DOOM won’t be released until next spring. Still can’t wait though.

ParticipantSo what is this year’s Hot New Buzzword? I’m going with something to describe Fully Customizable World, since Fallout and Doom both featured that pretty heavily

ParticipantMicrosoft knew they were falling behind. This backwards compatibility thing is a game changer. My 360 (my fucking third) has been dead forever. And I swore I would not give Microsoft more of my money… while my 360 games sit unused… I think I might be springing for an Xbone now… We shall see. But that’s huge.

ParticipantMy Xbone is doing that thing where it doesn’t recognize any discs at all anymore. I keep meaning to send it in to get fixed, but who has the time for games?
Also, if Backwards Compatibility was a software update away the whole time, that should have been a launch feature.
In other news, that Tiny Fallout looks great (but is still Tiny Fallout)

KeymasterIf we see any Transformers we’ll check ’em out!
If we had to guess at the buzzword or dominant concept this year it would have been VR, but we’ve been proven wrong. Maybe next year! Instead it seems to be a general vibe of respectful communication with the gaming communities: fulfilling long-overdue promises (Last Guardian, FFVII), making good on common-sense features (XBONE backwards compatibility), and directly involving the communities in beta testing games and developing it with the fanbase – which seemed to be universal across all publishers and hardware makers. Really quite beautiful.
I was convinced I was going to get a PS4 (and it’s still not a bad decision, because their games roster looked like the most artful batch of the lot) but it’s clear that I’ll be investing in an XBONE first and foremost. For starters: I want to keep my Rockband library, but this year’s roster is really great. I preordered the Pip Boy for the system and I don’t even own it yet.
Tiny Fallout is great. Matt Spill has been playing it all day.

ParticipantO_O I’m going through information overload from all the E3 coverage. So many things I want. So many things I’ve decided I need. So little money coming in. And though I am a Nintendo fanboy at heart and prefer Playstation for my RPGs, I’m gonna have to get a XBONE just to keep up with that too. I’m gonna have to start playing Powerball heavily if I’m gonna ever get the money to buy all the things that E3 has to offer this year. And that’s just after the first day!! This does not bode well for my nearly-empty bank account!

ParticipantThis tiny fallout game is something. I got a scribe from the Brotherhood of Steel in a lunchbox, and his charisma is through the roof. I have put him out to stud in my Living Quarters, and it is pretty much a done deal that my Vault population will get a +1 with whatever lady friend I assign him after a few minutes. Except that one time when they went into the back room and it started a fire.
I determined that the best thing to do is treat it like Tiny Tower, and build down vertically so you can have your rooms be comfortably 3 wide on either side. It took me a few to figure out where a room tells you what stat you should pick to maximize the effectiveness of the dweller you put there, but I find the UI for the game is kind of generally not very user friendly even if it is thematically appropriate.
