“You are fascinated by end of the world scenarios, and enjoy constructing DOOMSDAY DEVICES for the hell of it.”
    – Vriska Serket. Character introduction.

Hello Nerdy Show people. Has someone in your life told you about Homestuck recently? No? Well, let me tell you about Homestuck…

Homestuck is a massive multimedia webcomic by Andrew Hussie. It incorporates still frames, animated gifs, flash animations, interactive mini-games, good ol’ walls-of-text and chat logs to convey its gigantic narrative. How gigantic, you might ask? Over 5,000 pages worth of gigantic, I might reply. Even more amazing : the whole thing basks in a glorious text adventure, point and click RPG, 90s pop culture, 8-bit nostalgia vibe that makes it a reason defying wonder that nobody on Nerdy Show ever decided to talk about it before. But what is it about, you might inquire next, what’s the story? It is about four kids who play a game that ends the world. What begins as a lighthearted parody of ancient gaming tropes slowly evolves into a multi-dimentional, multi-timeline struggle for the existence of not only their universe, but of all realities.

But enough about Homestuck proper. What about my entry?

My entry is Vriska, Thief of Light. She has all the amazing. ALL OF IT. Vriska is one of the comic’s important characters, a member of an alien species called Trolls that messes with and/or helps the kids along their adventure. The sprite is 80×80 blocks and counts a couple thousand units of wool. Because it is entirely made of wool. I am a Minecraft sprite purist and would have it no other way. Vriska is situated off the coast of scenic Adventure Forest, Old Continent. The exact coordinates are x: -175, z: -320. The whole thing took about an afternoon to make, but the sprite was the least of the whole project… For you see, Vriska does not stand alone. Standing alone would be for lame babies who are lame. Noooooooope. :::;)

Vriska is accompanied by her very own theme song in a box, an engineering and musical miracle which can play both as a single session or as a loop through the magic of redstone circuitry. Really, I urge you to go there and give it a listen. Have I mentioned it has two different instrumental tracks overlayed parallel to each other? Because it does. It plays bass and piano, for double the awesome.

So this is it. My contest entry. And, I hope, Nerdy Show’s first of more forays into the awesome that is Homestuck. Raven out.

Is there a way someone can physically high-five a person through the internet? Cause you deserve it buddy. Vriska ftw!

I’d chastise you for spoiling the trolls, but I suppose almost anyone who’d read it would already have been exposed to it enough that they’d seen them already.

As for Homestuck itself, I’ve been waiting for Nerdy Show to bring the Nerdy Show Prime donation drive back to try and make an episode of it happen. I would like it to be covered, but if it is, I want it to be covered properly and done justice; a microsode would both contain probably no one who even knows the slightest thing about it besides what they’ve learned from osmosis and wouldn’t be nearly long enough to cover it. Nerdy Show have talked about it before, however only about how none of them have the time to get into it.

I, personally, would not recommend reading Homestuck. Not at first, anyway. Go read Problem Sleuth first; it’s under 2,000 pages, you can read through it in an evening, and it will get you a feel for how MSPA tend to go.

Have you considered trying to stack Microsodes? If you have enough Microsodes that are basically the same topic it wraps around into a Regular episode. It therefore stands to reason you could pull a x4 Reach Around Combo and make it a Primisode.

    Guess who, it's Kaosubaloo!

I don’t get lucky enough to nab microsodes ever; and I have to be frugal when I donate anyway.
