So, I’m looking for a good place to host my website and I am even planning on maybe paying since most free webhosts are pure, unadulterated bullshit.

Does anyone have any recommendations/stuff to share about your webhost, if you use one? I’m looking for something with FTP access, preferably cPanel, support for custom HTML, PHP, and javascript, NONE of this drag-and-drop site builder BS, and decent allowances for file storage (over 1 GB would be nice) and monthly bandwidth (ten gigs is generally realistic).

If you recommend a free one, tell me about it. Especially tell me about how the staff act, and what the support forum is like. Most free webhosts I’ve seen seem to be based out of China or Russia or something, and bad translations, and occasionally ill-mannered staff seem to abound.

If it has to be a paid one, I’m hoping for nothing more than a couple dollars CAD a month. I don’t feel I should pay more than $20-30 a year for the basic privilege of sticking a pile of PHP scrips on the internet and linking them together.

For anyone wondering about the tone of my post, I’ve been fighting with my webhost to get a working SUBDOMAIN all day (and failing), and oh boy am I bitter as hell.
