Hey gang, this is a rez of the previous discussion we lost.

    I said:
Hey all, Doug and I have been kicking around an idea for a while about producing a line of ghost dice so more people can get in on the awesomeness of the Ghostbusters RPG in style. Thing is though, it’s a heck of a lot more specialized than the D6s we made for D&D so the promise of making costs back is uncertain.

We want to know how many people are interested in GB dice sets!

There’s two ideas for what we could make.
Idea 1: Just make ghost dice plain and simple. It’d be laser engraved like the D&D dice, so even better than the original ghost die, which was just a sticker. It’d be sold for pretty cheap

Idea 2: A DELUXE SET! This would include a ghost die, a full set of slime colored D6s, and a dice cup customized to look like a Ghostbusters containment unit. We’ve already found a source for all the elements so we know we can pull it off, but it’s a matter of demand. It’d be priced between $10-$20. If we did this option, we’d still sell single ghost dies.

What do you think? (Might do a mock up image if I can find the time.)

Personally, I think this would be awesome. When starting our game, one of the most annoying things was our homemade “ghost die.” It was just a regular d6 with the 6 side covered in red marker. After a few games, It would smear on our hands, the table, and even the other dice. 🙁

We got lucky because a fan sent us their own custom ghost dice. And lemmie tell ya, seeing that actual ghost logo pop up along side our “slime-green” dice makes it feel so much more… official.

We’ve also gotten requests for the custom equipment cards. What do you think, Cap? Could we throw those in as well? Give everyone an actual “franchise start-up kit”?

    I said:
Totally. If we’re going all-out then we might as well sell a full blown starter kit for the expanded GB:R game with everything but the rule books. But again, we can only do it if there’s a want from the populous.

    A thousand times, yes.

that sounds absolutely awesome! shut up and take my money

Would a pre-order system be possible? It’d help spread the word around multiple communities and help meet production minimums.

Idea 2. Now. Please. Thank you. 😀

Like you even have to ask me. 😉 I’m all for #2. Even moreso for the franchise set.

And to @atzomatic, if there’s enough initial interest (and it’s looking good so far!) then, yeah pre-orders would absolutely be a possibility.

I’d be in for option 2. The franchise kit sounds awesome, but I’m not sure that I’d actually get any use out of it.

Stealin' their loot ton by ton, Takin' their ships one by one.

I have a long and disturbing relationship with Paypal after an Id theft. Would or could there be an alternate way to pay?

@redmenace Oof, that’s a shame! Paypal is the easiest way for us guys (a small rag-tag group) to automate our purchases. The only alternate payment option would be if we were able to do pre-orders via an outside service like IndieGoGo. Though, with the legalities of the Ghostbusters brand I’m not sure that’s ideal.

He could always snail mail a money order or something. Not quick or tidy, but possible.

Or, if you guys wanted to go through the hassle (whatever that may be), there is the Amazon Payments route.

I think some storefronts allow for pre-orders with other payment options, but carrying stuff referencing licensed properties could still be a liability issue 🙁

Maybe, I don’t know. Etsy has lots of licensed property material, but maybe it’s one of those “I made _____ inspired by _____ because there isn’t anything official.”

“I made _____ inspired by _____ because there isn’t anything official.”

Is totally what we’d do anyways… so, it might happen. Got some legwork to do to figure all this out.

True, just depends on the company, maybe? They made Ghost Dice once before, but since it’s no longer in production, they may not care

I am in the same boat as Maraun. I’d love to have it, but I Don’t have anyone around to play with.

Thanks in advance Cap, I would love to have this happen but you need to protect yourself first and fore most.

Maraun and Korric the original Ghostbusters lends itself to e-gaming. I know there have been quite a few online games.

    @duraphago

Producing sets wouldn’t be poaching from any existing business, but Sony still holds the rights.

    Butts gotta be covered!

Everything aside I’d be down to work on package/case art if need be, sounds fun!
