KeymasterIT’S RPG MONTH! We’re releasing episodes themed around tabletop roleplaying, hosting an RPG podcast panel at MegaCon, and now that Call of Cthulhu is recorded, holding a NEW RPG $upport drive where YOU choose the next system we play. Find out how to get involved here: http://nerdyshow.com/support-the-show-rpg/
Fiasco is an unconventional RPG that I’ve been hearing the praises of for some time. It’s a roleplaying game, that’s also an exercise in storytelling. The shortest explanation anyone has given me is that essentially you’re creating a Cohen Brothers movie on the fly – giving way to black comedy and crazy actions. @Garayur has graciously added it to the mix this time around and I for one am stoked – been wanting to play this for ages!

It’s hard to say what characters we’ll play since that has to be done at the game’s start (as far as I can tell) but you can best bet that at least someone is going to play a Nick Cage archetype and that is a very powerful thing:

Keymaster@seven (aka Doug from Ghostbusters) has played Fiasco three times. Since characters are chosen at the game’s start, we can’t do character pitches, so he’s shared all three of his Fiasco experiences!

Participant1) I’m still waiting on that World of Darkness one-shot.
2) I still think you guys would rock a Star Wars game.

Could put a dollar on each of them to get ’em started. Just sayin. 😎
But for those of you who’d like to know more about what kind of playsets Fiasco can offer, check out their page “Playset of the Month.” Some pretty good stuff in there.

Keymaster@mijder Yup-yup! What Doug said! WoD is definitely a system of interest otherwise we wouldn’t have had it in the running every RPG Drive to date. I’m thinking that might be the next one I dedicate character profile to, just need to do a bit of research. And Star Wars, as long as we can easily get a hold of the materials.. all it would need is a donation to jump-start it!

ParticipantThey’ve played this on Tabletop (hosted by Wil Wheaton). It’s an entertaining game, perfect for a listening audience.

ParticipantI thought World Of Darkness won a previous fundraiser?
Star Wars is a tough one. It has had three different systems in 20 years. There is the d6 system given to us by the same people who gave us the Ghostbusters RPG. There is the D20 system from Wizards of the Coast. Then there is the latest version, which gives us these things.

Keymaster@Mijder WoD has never had a lot of support, surprisingly. It was Call of Cthulhu that won last time. That’s been recorded and ought to be released in May.
Oy those new Star Wars dice look like a royal clusterfuck… If anyone wants us to take on Star Wars I’m all for the d6 Ghostbuster system. That sounds mega fun.
