Don Bluth is trying to raise enough money for a teaser for a Dragon’s Lair movie. He thinks a full feature is going to cost $70 million, so he’s asking for $550K to make the teaser and he’ll find the rest:

I AM IN. INNNN! I’ve been constantly saddened by Bluth falling off the map (and going out in a whimper of really shit movies). The dude is a master!

I hope the art book comes out agnostic to the kickstarter, I’d love to see that. I’ll be honest, I don’t have much hope this will turn into a film – Dragon’s Lair is one of those IPs that a ton of people recognize, but not enough care enough about for it to make money. Every so often somebody tries to put the game back out on DVD where you play it with the remote or whatever, and it just stays in the $1 bin.

Kickstarter has been cancelled and moved to IndieGoGo:

I speculate they acquired an investor looking to put in REAL money but not wanting it to go to Kickstarter, not fund the whole thing, but enough that they’d prefer to embrace a platform that lets them keep what they can make from the Internet and still seek outside funding from larger-scale investors without threat of loosing what the Internet sends them.
