ParticipantI must say, this was quite awesome. To me, Bardy, Jamela Lefty and Black pepper Jack just stole the show. Def agree that this episode needs to get animated.

ParticipantEnjoyed this a lot. Pleasantly surprised to hear that BP Jack is staying on for at least a little while longer, Cap’s fop voice is always fun to hear and probably a nice change of pace for him from Jamela. Glad to know that Barty isn’t automatically doomed to a hairy fate, although what is in store for him we have to wait and see. Super excited by the implication that Gladriel still has her machinations in the works for our heroes if I’m reading between the lines correctly in that last scene. If there’s one thing I wish for it would be inclusion of the B Team in their plans, since we know that Deen was supposed to go find Ryllatrix and Izzy as backup, but then again one can’t expect plans involving other PCs to go the way you’d hope, especially not ones with Deen at the helm. I do hope they’ll be making another appearance before the end of the book though.

KeymasterI’m constantly surprised at what ends up happening with Jack. Nothing I ever intended, that’s for sure. Colin and I had Ryan start working on epic duel music for him a few episodes back because we were certain a showdown was going to happen… and yet… Well, something is bound to happen sooner or later.
Jack’s voice is still a challenge, as is his character. I want him to be menacing but the party has other plans. Also, I really, really didn’t intend to play a full-time character in tandem with another character. It all just happened in-game – all of a sudden Ruel is telling me: actually, just go ahead and play it, now roll a die, now oops you’re a main character. So… we’ll see how that goes.
Thanks for all the awesome feedback, guys! Based on what we’ve been hearing all around it’s sounding like this is one of our most popular episodes so far!

ParticipantThis was quite the episode. There are so many awesome things this episode I don’t even know were to start. Jemala’s instant and automatic claiming “Your Worshipfulness” as her title was beautiful and I had all but given her Causual Badass award for how she dealt with the guardsmen when Lefty stepped in and brought it to a tie. Lefty rubbing Jack’s nose in it was just fun and Shovel Guy added so much to his scenes. Hex’s use of telepathy was also a really nice solution to his problems. It not often that you get to see helpless and barely able to move turn into a significant party advantage.
I also like how Reul rewarded his players without undermining the tone. It never stopped feeling like recovering from a defeat/damage control, but the group received some not insignificant resources with which to do that.

ParticipantI do have one question that always kept crossing my mind, and mayhaps it was asked before. But, still wouldn’t mind hearing the answer: When it comes to Jamelas and Jack’s voices are they changed to sound like the characters in post production or are the changes done live as the recording goes on.

KeymasterThere’s no pitch shifts or modifications to either voices, if that’s what you mean – it’s all me. In the past (outside of his first appearance in the prologue) most times I’d recorded Jack afterwards, reinterpreting Ruel’s direction. This time it was live roleplay. Currently, the princess is done this way too, but that might not always be the case – Alicia who plays her is ready to roleplay. I picked someone with a *special* relationship with Colin to be able to handle being in love with Barty. Currently, the princess is so plot-centric it didn’t make sense to havs her be a free agent, so to speak. Ruel meeded that control.
Sometimes with other voices like the Dutchess of Holstiene that voice was not only added in over Ruel’s original direction, but slightly pitch shifted.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantOne of my favorite episodes in some time, Jamela going casual to badass in an instant was definitely one of the best parts for me. Gotta feel sorry for Cap having to do two separate characters at once, I’ve been there in regular D&D and it is by no means easy. Also, tell the DDMC their tracks are beyond outstanding.

KeymasterNah… it’s alright. It’s a lot of fun. My only concern is should me doing two characters complicate things. Gonna try to avoid Jamela and Jack having a conversation.

Participantjust caught up on the last two episodes. Ruel’s Shovel Guy might be my new favorite “NPC”….

Keymaster@coveredwagonkid I love him too. Dude deserves an award. Never before has an NPC been that awesome. More of him in next month’s episode!

ParticipantCap, is the Dungeons and Doritos podcast in indefinite hiatus status? Or am I just looking in the wrong spot?
Sorry for my own hiatus from the forums for so long, life got real busy for a while, but I’ve finally reached the point where I should be able to visit more frequently.
Missed all of you.

KeymasterNothing indefinite, just undetermined! It was an unfortunate clusterfuck we skidded into after our break for assembling and releasing Call of Cthulhu. Year end craziness and life sideswipes including Colin having a baby this past week!
One good thing about this regrettably long gap in releases is that it’s offered us the opportunity to regroup and come up with an even better system for getting D&D out. So once it gets going again, it’ll really get going. In the meantime I’m trying to figure out something fun we can do to tide everyone over that won’t overclock us too much.
