I have successfully logged in without the server crashing.

The server is still showing as down. Any luck fixing the problems? Have you been able to restore a backup?

A question that should make us more concerned is “will the server survive this?” These problems are looking more and more terminal by the hour.

Yeah, cannot connect either. Probably more to do with being stuck in that dead chunk? Dunno.

Connected, ran about for ten minutes, crash. I did not enter that void which we know makes the server crash.

Allow me to further deepen the mystery. I was never online during the End of Time incident, nor have I been to the site since the TARDIS explosion.

    I logged on for 15 minutes last night and no issues (10:00 pm – 10:15 pm… ish-ish).

Logged back in, popped a quick /spawn command, logged out, cannot log back in. Evidently I’m breaking the living hell out of the server. I’m a jerk.

Server’s down again as of this post. Did the server do unspeakably filthy acts to its current sleeping arrangement, or is it down for maintenance again?

Is there any hope of rescuing the world as a whole? To do so would mean having to find and fix every single chunk error that exists in the map, so that someone can’t just blunder into one they didn’t know existed. And more could exist. Who knows where the little buggers spring up?

After the community voted not to restart the map due to losing all the wonderful content contained therein, it’d be a terrible punch right to the groin region to be forced to do so.

As it turns out, I’m afraid to actually do any building when I can get on because the server may need to roll back, quite possibly weeks into the past!

The server restarts every 30 minutes in an attempt to auto reset in case someone reaches one of the damaged zones. We need to identify where these places are so they can be sealed. I have already sealed the area north on quartz, but I don’t know where the other ones are. If we can figure out where they are we can seal them too, which should lower the server down time. So anyone know where the other zones are (tardis excluded).

I’m guessing you sealed it with bedrock using map edit. If that’s the case, make sure there are no Warps in there. so people don’t warp in.

I actually did it by hand with world edit, but yeah. Also I think at this point we’ll need to change tactics on how to do deal with this. My current goal is to look through the logs and figure out how far back we need to go to get a safe backup. Then I’ll try to host the back up as the current ‘main’ server while also hosting the buggy one on another port so that people can go in with lawmen and create schematic files of builds that people can’t live without or would have significant trouble duplicating. I don’t know when exactly I’ll have this set up, but I’d ‘hope’ to get it done today.

Hey if we are moving creations could you save my city? It may be to big, but its the main reason i go on this server. The cords are x:-1326 y:64 z:-2538. I do hope that you save this place. Me and my friends spent over a year on it. Thanks.

Gabe, the plan is not to reset the server. The plan is to restore to a backup that, worst case, could easily be a month old. This means that newer things (Gamma comes to mind) will be lost but older structures like your city should be relatively unscathed.

    Guess who, it's Kaosubaloo!

OK so the backup is from April 1st. I am also currently running the corrupt (but more recent) server on port :55566. So if you go there with a lawman they can help you move your stuff. Now the key is this, the schematics are saved in a different folder (you know since its technically another server). Every morning for the next week I’ll try to move the schematics over. Then a lawman can help you with placing it in the current SOA.

Both instances of the server are down!

When the corrupt server begins working, (if it hasn’t already been done) could someone grab a schematic of all of gamma spawn that exists above ground? Make sure to select far enough down that it gets the floor of the lowest level though.

I ask because there’s some things I don’t want to have to do again, like the changes to the farm level and my flophouse. Also the doors someone made are pretty awesome.

When I blanked out again, I was riding a long rail that (I think) goes to GabeRichardson’s place? It meanders through the wilds, and I found bits and pieces of it broken so I was running it for inspection/repair. Yeah, I’m just that nice of a guy.

Any rate, I found another Zone of Thud out there. I’m reluctant to log back in. Tried a couple quickie “log in, use a /spawn command, log out” jobs and was unable to read the server after logout. Really don’t want to crash it while others are on. Or ever.
