This is quoting from an e-mail from my Local Gaming Group (Durham University) from a couple of weeks ago. I couldn’t make it (bus fairs are expensive when you are unemployed.)
‘Protomen: Year 20XX’
It is the year 20XX and Dr. Wily’s rule is absolute in Megacity and beyond. Megaman led his army of rebels against the mad doctor and was crushed mercilessly, his parts thrown into the junk piles surrounding the city walls. The once-great Dr. Light was ultimately unable to prevent his erstwile friend and co-researcher’s rise to power, using the robots he himself had created, and was killed in the final stand alongside his robotic son.
The players are the cobbled-together ‘inventions’ of the young Dr. Grey, a self-taught roboticist using discarded parts in the junkyards to produce new friends with whom she can while away her lonely and dangerous life outside the city walls. Even this is preferable to living inside; the totalitarian regime of Wily’s robot army is too much for any man to stand against without breaking… But Megaman’s legacy lives on through you, the players; will a group of machines be the heroes man needs?
I asked him – and yes it was based off the Rock Opera – not enough people turned up (exams coming up and everything) so it didn’t get going but I thought I would pass it along just so another GM out there can think “Wait you can run a game based of the Protomen.”
