ParticipantIt was a fantastic episode that I couldn’t have been happier with, but I must give credit for it to @Korrik. He actually funded the microsode, but gave it to the next person to donate. Hopefully I did right by you.
I’m excited for this Lantern City. And to have John Sheridan working on it is cool as hell (Babylon 5 being among my favorite sci-fi series).

Keymaster@guinauruloki Ah totally forgot about the Korrik deal. Shoulda made a note of that. Thanks dude! Really glad you liked the episode. Boxleitner was being coy about whether or not he’d be in the show but it’s a fair bet he is.

InactiveThis episode really caught my attention. I don’t have much experience with steam punk, but thought Lantern City would be a decent start.
At the time of the micro-sode, Lantern City hadn’t been released. 1.5 years later, there seems to be some evidence of a show, but I can’t find anything linking me where I can actually see anything except promos and con panels.
Does anyone have any more information? It’s about time for a preview follow-up.

ParticipantI was actually just wondering about this project as well the other day.

ParticipantThe IMDB page lists it as a 2014 show, and it only has 3 cast members. Boxleitner is a producer on it. there are no plot summaries or anything: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2624156/fullcredits?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm

ParticipantLooks like back in December the show creators were blogging about it turning into a 12 issue comic, though they were talking about the show as if it were still a thing: http://lanterncitytv.com/forum/entry.php/22-Overview-of-Future-Posts

ParticipantThere’s also some sort of multi-media app for iOS and Android that has 4hrs of audio content by Bruce: http://macrocosm.tv/riseapp

InactiveIt’s crazy. I found the same things. The website has no links to any media. Only a few stage photos and a few props.
There was one YouTube video interviewing Boxleitner at a con. They were talking about how their approach to air the show was different.
Their plan was to create a fan supported show first, then present it along with the data about the fanbase to networks. Their idea being that this method takes the risk of starting a show away from the networks, making it a more stable investment.

ParticipantI’m guessing there isn’t a whole lot of progress happening, considering all three of the listed actors are currently in production on other things, and Lantern City is just listed on their specific IMDB pages as “announced.”

ParticipantEven the producers are doing other things. Boxleitner is listed as doing an untitled Tron sequel and a TV movie, and the other exec producer has two movies on his 2015 plate. Even the props guy is doing other things. My guess is that it will succeed or fail based on how this comic experiment goes.

ParticipantThe props guy is working on something called “Trip to the Moon” which has no description, just a few genre tags. It features the characters Abraham Lincoln, John Wilkes Booth, Dr. Fritz Lang, and somebody called Ruler Zahn/Face of the Moon. I don’t know what that is, but it sounds amazing. I’m guessing it is some kind of play off that old silent film where the moon has a rocket sticking out of its eye you always see stills from.

InactiveI heard rumor of a “A Trip to the Moon” remake a while back, but I gave it no credit at the time. There are worse titles to work with I suppose.
I’ll drop by their forum site later and see if anyone there has any information. It didn’t look too organized.

InactiveThis is what I have found while on my lunch break.
“The show is not starting yet. As of right now you can order the prequel illustrated novel Lantern City: Rise through Amazon and we are waiting for news on the release date for a 12 issue comic book.” (Post date: 10-18-2014)

KeymasterGood digging guys! I think about Lantern City off and on. It struck me as similar to what we’re doing with Lightning Dogs. They’re not conceptualizing it out in the open like we are (not exactly anyway) but they’re stimulating a fanbase as it develops. Unfortunately I’m not sure they’ve been able to keep the energy up. Or maybe they just opted to go full closed doors in lieu of their alternative approach not working. TV is such a bitch. Things either happen or they don’t and the incubation processes usually drags on so long there’s not telling where and when something will resurface.

KeymasterHey everyone! Lantern City just updated! The comic series is happening and it’s coming out from Archaia in May. It’s ongoing.
