Okay I checked the cinema’s screening times, and they had two 12:01 screenings (one regular, one premium) and six 12:30 screenings (five regular, one premium). All sold out, so that’s probably where the hype was at that one particular movie theatre.
Also there was one 3D screening at 12:01, also sold out.

Side note: spoilers come through on email notifications completely, not sure if that’s something you may want to look into at all.

I’m sure manic hype existed for the film.
At the 12:01am premiere screening.
In each of the four or five cinemas in my city.
And probably at the 12:30am screenings.
And maybe even at the 6am screenings.
I think the hype cooled off a tiny bit when the movie screened every 30 minutes from 9am today, on a Thursday. I got to casually go into…[Read more]

I’ve been away from NS and SOTE for awhile, but did anyone see the movie early?
Because it turns out we got a 12:01am 17th December premiere in Australia as well, which means that, despite me walking in at 1:30pm today and seeing it in a cinema with maybe 20 other people in it, I think I still saw it before most Americans.

We’ve had a microsode on Sym-Bionic Titan already, but put mine towards a microsode on one of the best people working in animation today, Genndy Tartakovsky. In spite of how many critical or commercial successes he puts out, he and his field get dismissed by executives, and more time devoted to his work in general than just one show in particular…[Read more]

To me that’s an attempt to show kids that a relatively lighthearted show can have deeper, more complex themes, and that you don’t need to be either a simple kiddie show or a Frank Miller homage. Even the more jokey episodes of the Eccleston and Tennant eras had deeper messages to take home; usually about the beauty of life and the inevitability…[Read more]

No, wait, not done.
Briggs, did you hear yourself at the end when you cited Game of Thrones as an example of something where cohesive plotlines have resolutions and characters have endings where they get to where they want to go? Did you actually listen to that comparison as you said it?

I get how that makes the whole thing feel so impenetrable, but as someone who never watched any of the old series before getting into it, the new episodes never felt like they suffered from that problem. The talk about the tone of the show being inconsistent in the new series felt like it fit with the very clear underlying narrative of the Doctor…[Read more]

Okay, before I actually say anything about the episode or the show, I have to say: getting upset at the use of the term “Doctor” without showing credentials is being pedantic for pedantic’s sake. Fiction has always and will always convey themes through metaphor, and expects you, the audience, to be smart enough to understand when something is to…[Read more]

Doug, I think the words you were looking for were “the Lightning Dogs shouldn’t be stereotypes”, not “shouldn’t have accents”, or else I think you need to refresh yourself on what words mean.
Because effectively restricting all of the Lightning Dogs to various American dialects immediately cuts my interest in the concept by a significant margin.…[Read more]

Yes, the “backwards compatibility” of the Bone is cool, but consider this: buy a preowned 360. Unless there is something on the Bone that you can’t get anywhere else that makes you want to spring for it, save a bunch of money and get a 360.

For anyone who missed the return of the Nintendo World Championships (featuring all American citizens), the entire event was archived on Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
All four hours of it.

Yeah, I know about telling it to delete episodes; like I said, it’s never worked for me for some reason, and I’ve always had to delete each episode one at a time.
frozentreasure replied to the topic iPad over downloading in the forum General discussion 7 years, 10 months ago
That sounds like you’ve got something set somewhere to download all unplayed episodes when you refresh the feed. I don’t remember if Podcasts lets you change that setting, though; if you can, make it not download anything when you refresh and see if that affects it.
Not strictly related, but something else to keep in mind, when using Podcasts, is…[Read more]

I wouldn’t compare the pacing of those two to each other, really. Adventure Time has a complex backstory that was retrofitted to the world and results in many recommendations for the show involving skipping the first few seasons.
Steven Universe (and Gravity Falls, too) show what you can do when you take that kind of intricate setting and…[Read more]
