Jack’s gang is way more than a gang. He runs the force that keeps the locals in line for the entirety of the domain directly in Glampire’s control. Really, Glampire controls everything, but you could say there’s a bleed from the seat of his power outward.

So glad you liked it! But also- don’t get too excited! These are just ancient pilots. I’d LOVE for this to be a regular thing, but presently that’s not an option. I’d need someone to basically be showrunner so I can just write my material, show up, perform, and not have to worry about anything else. Unfortunately that’s not how things work around here yet…

Hey dude! Yeah, I *really* wanted to talk about this one, and would’ve done it by now if I’d had my way.
I love Book Club, I still want to do Book Club, I was definitely prepared to integrate Book Club back into Nerdy Show recordings on the schedule I mentioned in the last episode, but not all of the other hosts were feeling it. In some ways the erratic release schedule of the past had been as grating to them as I imagine it’s been to the listeners. I thought everything was cool, otherwise my mouth wouldn’t have written checks it couldn’t cash, but alas.

Certainly more Book Club isn’t impossible, just highly unlikely for the time being. I’d like to at least do an episode on this book even if it’s just me, but let’s say it’s not happening so that in case it does it’ll be a pleasant surprise.

Gosh. Sorry I’m so late to this.

If Glampire isn’t hate-worthy I think we’ve fucked up. No villain will be two dimensional, but if any sane person is taking stock of what they’ve actually done and what they’d gladly do again they should be despised.

@rjlikins I remember that photo VERY well

Also… this was the most extreme I got with Super Soakers… the CPS 2000

Jack, Scrap, and Taku are the characters we’ve spent the most time on who definitely, given that we’re allotted a big enough episode count to just explore, will get some standalone time. And there’s a very real possibility of an episode that’s all at the verge of the fall of humanity focusing on Glampire and Queen Lich to give the audience context that the main characters wouldn’t have.

BUT that’s only if it makes sense to share that info that way in the fabric of the larger narrative.

Initially the boring leader was the big one. But as soon as we had the Bruce Willis comparison down Dingo’s bland inclinations melted away. The next most challenging are Narisa and Angela – both characters with a lot of merit but both easy to slip into passive support roles because they’re both so important to the core team. When they’re in the group they start being functions above characters. It’s something we’re very conscious of so hopefully it’ll never be apparent. They thrive in smaller groups.

    Interesting suggestions!

As for those images – they ended up in the LD Sketchbook

Ha! Yeah, we’re not nearly clever enough to have done that eyepatch deal. There’s just no locked design yet. I love Max’s design from Inktober. I think they’re gonna evolve into a separate character.

No official design yet. But I think he’s too serious business for a fancy hat. A simple, practical tricorner – if anything. Now… that cousin of his that impersonates him… he’s the kinda asshole who would wear a fancy hat.

Weisman might be king of this in American cartoons. Xanatos/ Fox and the whole Young Justice season 2 switcheroos were amazing.
It seems silly buttering him up all the time, but the dude is a legend for a reason.

In the grander scheme of media… there’s so many in comics… too many perhaps, but if I think of one that I really feel should be zeroed in on (outside of my usual touchstones – like Ninjara in TMNTA) I’ll comment again.

Max, what the heck is that? Visionaries? (Trying to figure out the chest plate). Btw – a Visionaries/ Transformers comic comes out tomorrow so they’re on my mind.

That is a *really* tough question, big bad. Honestly I think the OT era Stormtroopers are the best design probably, but I’d love to offer up something more eclectic and interesting. It’s hard to make a blank-faced army of baddies interesting – especially when the point is generally cost-effectiveness, whether animation or live action. Speaking of – I’m not a fan of Doctor Who (at least modern Who, never have given time to the older stuff) BUT the Daleks and Cybermen are really great, weird yet classic designs that are 100% the byproduct of necessity. Who has a lot of samey armies in it and though the reoccurrence of that trope is a negative thing, they do tend to be kind of interesting.
