  2. State of the Empire :: Episode 50 :: #ImperialMarch

State of the Empire is a Star Wars speculation podcast where we “look for news in Alderaan places”.

Sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Just ask Lord & Miller.

To celebrate 50 episodes of State of the Empire, Cap went out to L.A. to hang with Matt and storm Lucasfilm for Solo intel. And… well, though we didn’t end up like the Bothan spies, at least they had something to show for themselves. It’s 60 days until we’re strapped in for the latest Star Wars and we’re still flying without a targeting computer.

But hey – you know when State of the Empire is in town there’s always a party. So we’re celebrating #ImperialMarch by scoping out YOUR picks for the greatest Imps of ’em all. Plus we discover surprising ties between forthcoming novels and the theme park, Galaxy’s Edge, swoop into some deep, classic Star Wars lore in Solo, explore the sordid secrets of the Rancor Giga Pet, and get ready for the impending return of one of the greatest and greenest heroes in the galaxy: Jaxxon. When The Nerdy Show Network’flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions and interviews.

Here at Nerdy Show, we know how to make our stories come to life by taking matters into our own hands with audio dramas and comic books… but what about books? To help us solve this quandary, Cap and Bad Storytellers / Ghostbusters: Resurrection‘s Josh LaForge are joined by Alyson Grauer of the RPG podcast Warda. She’s got experiences to share about breaking into independent sci-fi / fantasy publishing, in both novels and short stories, along with advice on leveling up your writing game and her personal tale of social networking her way to print.

  7. Nerdy Show 304 :: Peculiar Science – A Wrinkle in Time Review + More!

The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast unloads on the latest geek news and happenings!

There IS such thing as a tesseract. A notion we take for granted here in the 21st century, but one that in 1962 made some waves – especially when it was the central focus of a children’s book. Madeline L’Engle’s sci-fi classic, A Wrinkle in Time, for all its hard sci-fi mixed with metaphysical fantasy, has been near-impossible to adapt in its 50+ years – but can the full weight of Disney’s special effects budget and the powers of Oprah finally make some science magic happen? We’ve got opinions! And that’s not all!

Join Cap, Trench, boR, and Jon as we discuss sci-fi anime and TV you may have already watched, odd films you might not have, and some baffling new explorations in science: VR murder in the court room, vortexes on Jupiter, and Alexa laughing manically when she hears a ghost. (more…)

  8. Flame On :: Episode 192 :: Drag is the New Spandex :: All Stars 3 RuCap #7

fo_logo_1400x1400Flame ON! is the all-gay, all-geek podcast. Tune in as we dish on the latest in pop and queer culture! And in our Drag Is The New Spandex specials we meet the geeks behind the glitz and glamour of the drag queen circuit.

Hey Kitty Girls! Oral and Pat are back, back, back again for another RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars RuCap! The end is in sight, but before we get to the finale there is one more challenge that these queens (and our hosts) have to endure: the acting challenge. Our new top 5 all stars are tasked with channeling award winning actors, mashed up with raunchy comedy films. Did the queens get the part best suited for them? Did our favorites climb to the top of this challenge or did they fall by the wayside? Did the right queen sashay away? Did Oral indulge in some adult beverages during this recording? These answers and more are waiting for you in this episode!

  9. State of the Empire :: Episode 49 :: Solo Brand Synergy

State of the Empire is a Star Wars speculation podcast where we “look for news in Alderaan places”.

When it comes to Solo: A Star Wars Story intel, we’re still scraping the bottom of the bantha bin. That’s why, in typical State of the Empire fashion, we’re putting our snouts where they don’t belong and rounding up some unusual suspects: advertising partners. Will you quench your 5-0-Thirst in a Solo cup? Can Norton Antivirus commercials clue us into a slicing subplot?

In considerably more important news, we discuss the surprising announcement that Jon Favreau is helming a new, live action Star Wars streaming series, and behind the spoiler-proof Blast Doors explore the universe-expanding details worth knowing from The Last Jedi: Expanded Edition and the massive waves made in the series finale of Star Wars Rebels.

What’s the difference between The Living Force, The Unifying Force, and The Cosmic Force? What detail from The Force Awakens did The Last Jedi‘s adaptation retcon? What will Ezra bridge next? You’ll have to go beyond the Blast Doors to find out. And be sure to tell us who your favorite Imperial is this #ImperialMarch! (more…)

  10. Friday Night Fanfiction :: It’s Called Poopie

The drunken fanfiction podcast you’ve been waiting for! Friday Night Fanfiction combines dramatic readings of the worst-of-the-worst NSFW fanfic with drinking games.

This is it – the final episode of the longest season we’ve ever had (so far, hopefully ever).

With this, the brave boys ‘n’ girls of FNF finish that koopalings fic, “Two Hearts are Better than One” by Etch Feather. After that concludes (if you can call it a conclusion), Val gets to read a wonderfully short Scott Pilgrim trollfic: “THe exstreamly epic life of Scot pilgram” by Jam OnToast X3. And finally, we end the season reading af anfiction about Friday Night Fanficion –  “From Stevo To Brushfire A Wolfenstory” by Grassdragon193. A heartwarming tale about Stevo and David sending Steam gifts and the dangers of abusing all your internet bandwidth. Think of the opossums, won’t you?

With Season 5 concluded, so does our tenure with Nerdy Show Network.

I (Stevo) want to take this time to once again extend many thanks to them for hosting us and giving us a place to live during our formative seasons. We wish them and every show on the Network the best in the future moving forward.

We’ll be making a separate announcement on the podcast feed about this as well, but you can find us at our new website being hosted at http://fridaynightfanfiction.com/. We’ve started recruiting for Season 6, (which ends on March 21st). This next season will start on April 4th, 2018.

The adventure continues. We’ll see you all real soon!? (more…)
