  1. Nerdy Show 274 :: How The Westworld Was Won

ep274The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast unloads on the latest geek news and happenings!

We live in an age of reboots and reimaginings. …We’re kind of exhausted of it, really. But lately there’s been some unexpected resurrections from the pop culture graveyard that’s captured our imaginations and provoked our patented chaotic conversations: from HBO’s Westworld, to an unusual deviation of the first Dragon Quest, even The Great Lakes Avengers – and that’s just to start!

Join Cap, boR, Doug, and Brandon as they drool over the possibilities of the super-sweet Raspberry Pi 3, as well as muse on the recently announced Red Dead Redemption 2, and get hyped for Twin Peaks‘ return. Plus – be prepared for strange adventures because Cap’s back from a trip to Chicago with an odd tale of a steamy cultural exchange and insights that only a good beating can coax out of you. Even more pop culture peculiarities await you within! (more…)

  2. Nerdy Show Bulletin :: Weather Report

ep273_5When The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions, interviews, and sometimes unexpected diversions… Like this one!

In this case the diversion was SUPER unexpected – even for us… and his name was Matthew. The hurricane looked like it was going to be a beast, but as luck would have it, it rolled through our town without being much trouble at all. We didn’t even lose power! But what we did lose was time. All the preparations, followed by reverting everything to normal, killed our regularly scheduled programming.

Tune in as Cap recaps the happs and offers the latest on Liberty‘s quest for a Guinness world record, Nerdy Show’s presence at North Carolina Comic Con, Lightning Dogs, and some exciting things going down this week – both online and on the windy streets of Chicago.

We’ll be back with our regularly scheduled podcast next week! (more…)

  3. Nerdy Show 273 :: This Show Needs an Enema

ep273The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast unloads on the latest geek news and happenings!

Nothing like some ’89 Batman quotes to adequately sum up our transition from “Fart Box” to present. We’re backed up with pop culture nonsense and other mental ephemera, so it’s time to clean house. After all, “when you’ve gotta go – go with a smile.” We’ll stop. This isn’t even a poopy episode, we swear. There’s no Brandon in sight!

Join Cap, boR, and Doug as we recount a recent RPG adventure with Fiasco – the game about making absurd, collaborative movies. Doug and Cap pitch their dark comedy about crooked time cop wedding crashers and see if boR will greenlight their picture. We explore the strange similarities the real world communication between trees and DC Comics’ elemental forces lorded over by Swamp Thing and other avatars. We also embrace our mundane selves for a change and pounce on pesky peccadillo that chafe our nuanced nerd nethers. Plus Regular Show (in space), Ninja Turtles (in space), and Dark Matter (in space)! (more…)

  4. Nerdy Show Community Update: Lightning Dogs, Phantasm, & Other Strange Dreams

ep272_5When The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions, interviews, and sometimes unexpected diversions… Like this one!

  5. Nerdy Show 272 :: Fart Box

ep272The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast unloads on the latest geek news and happenings!

We wanted to be upfront in that this episode of Nerdy Show is not unlike a box full of farts. Now, maybe that’s problematic for you. But before you turn up (or pinch) your nose and walk away, we want to remind you that farts are only natural. Nature’s stinky wink, if you will. Sly, but charming. Plus, you know that the box contains farts – but that might not be all that’s in the box. It could, for example, contain a review of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, some chat about the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online and other Poké-news, predictions of which 90s comedies are destined to get unnecessary third installments, or maybe just good, ol’ fashioned laughs.

So join Cap, boR, Nicky, and Brandon as we unbox the flatulent fun. Brandon reports on his vacation and the Smithsonians he collected, Cap shares a recent TV show crush, boR voices a new batch of unpopular opinions, and Nicky strikes it rich with a childhood obsession. It’s all here. Just tongue punch “play” for an earful of fun. (more…)

ep271_5When The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast isn’t unloading on the latest geek news and happenings, we’re diving deep into super-specific discussions and interviews.

The Nerdy Show crew has gathered for another rowdy round of gaming discussion, but this time we’re not talking about roleplaying or vicious Magic the Gathering battles… This time we’re unfolding one of the nuanced corners of tabletop: the board game. From the weird novelty games of our youths, to the adult thrills of historical economics and geopolitics, the scope of tabletop gaming outside the roleplaying realm is expansive. Good thing this Microsode is double-length!

Cap, Doug, Colin, and Wicked Anime‘s Jonathan are joined by our old pal Hex who returns to Nerdy Show to share his new endeavor – his tabletop game design company, Screech Dragon, and their first public project: Loaded Dice. Hex takes puts his newfound “hexpertise” to the test as we share our favorite and most memorable board gaming experiences and discuss the medium in its myriad formats. (more…)

But we’re not only spending some long-overdue time discussing this summer’s breakout TV series, we’re making our own investigation into some paranormal happenings. This time it’s not us reaching into the void: something reached out. The Central Florida Ghostbusters got a very unusual call from a man alleging to work at The Montauk Project, a notorious hub for government experiments, and in this episode we call him back.

Join Cap, Doug, Trench and Briggs before they’re black bagged , framed, or otherwise disposed of for sniffing where they oughtn’t. We dig into the lore of Overwatch, the potential conspiracy theory inspirations of Stranger Things, the surprising social satire of the new Flintstones comic, a couple indie games worth checking out, and the secrets we know about the forthcoming Protomen short film, Light Up the Night. You can find a lot of life lessons in mayonnaise hole. Sometimes you lean in so close you’d swear you’d snap in two, and the dang mayonnaise just won’t sheath the hole. But you keep leanin’! You lean until you sink that mayo – because you know nothing worth fighting for in this world is easy. And then there’s trust. A good fisher ain’t worth a damn without an anchor to back them up.
