    What’s a gay on the go supposed to do to ring in the new year during a pandemic? Why not head to Puerto Vallarta and spread a deadly disease to another country… wait… nope, how about staying in and binging some great new media like the boys of Flame ON! did?!?

    It’s a new year and the boys are here to discuss the newest in pop culture as we step foot into 2021 with our heads held high even after an attempted insurrection and impeachment. Before diving into the topics of the month, Bryan and the boys give their take on the second impeachment of Trump and then they dig into the circuit parties that took place in Puerto Vallarta over the  New Year holiday. After the shade is lifted, they tackle Netflix‘s new Shondalnd show, Bridgerton, the first production from Marvel‘s Phase 4, Disney+‘s WandaVisionHBO Max‘s Adult Material, and the rebooted game show, Name That Tune before giving their picks for the first 1-Ups of 2021!

    If you had the chance to make a wish and have your deepest desire come true, would you do it? What if the cost was too high? Could you live with the regret of having the thing you wanted most at your fingertips at the expense of others? These questions and more are examined in Wonder Woman 1984 and in this episode of Flame ON!

    It’s a new year, but it’s the same lovable cast of Flame ON! ready to tackle the Christmas miracle that Warner Bros. and DC Films gave us all in the simultaneous in (select) theater and in home release of the hotly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984! Wonder Woman 1984 sees director Patty Jenkins reunite with star Gal Gadot for a second go around as the demigod Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman. We are taken to the bright and colorful 1980’s for a film full of promise and amazement, but does the film live up to the hype of its predecessor as one of the best modern comic book films or does it suffer from Sequel Syndrome and studio interference? Find out what the boys think, and more, in this episode!

    It’s always a risky gambit when it comes to picking the best pop culture to chat about, but the boys of Flame ON! are back to bring you their picks of things you should pay attention to during these fall months! Checkmate!

    It’s November, everyone and while it may have felt like 14 years have passed since March 2020, we’re here to let you know that it has in fact been 84 years since March! OK, well maybe it hasn’t been that long, but there has been so much going on and we’re ready to share some pop culture with you. Before we dive into their favorites for this month, we discuss the election and congratulate President-Elect Biden and chat about the closure of the iconic Parliament House (along with Hamburger Mary’s Chicago and the Atlanta Eagle). From there, we discuss The Queen’s Gambit from Netflix (while making some really bad Gambit/Rogue/X-Men jokes), Owl House on Disney+, and the second season of The Mandalorian. We also dive into how the internet has seemingly turned on Baby Yoda in the wake of Egg-Gate! To close out the show we share our choices for what is giving us life in the 1-UPs segment!

    Bryan is back in the host chair for our first audio installment of our Rainbow Spotlight series where he sits and chats with some amazing creators who are part of our LGBTQIA+ (and ally) community. This series (which can be watched LIVE on our YouTube channel and Facebook page on Monday nights) explores what some of our favorite creators are currently up to and/or shares stories about where they’ve been and what they’ve done.   10. Nerdy Show :: David Byrne Shares True Stories From “True Stories”

    The Nerdy Show Network’s flagship podcast is a polymath polymorph gestalt entity of all known geek knowledge.

    In this archival interview from 2018, Cap speaks with Talking Heads’ David Byrne about the Criterion Collection re-release of his 1986 film, True Stories and the first ever edition of that film’s complete soundtrack. The film was Byrne’s directorial debut and as it plainly puts it right at the start is “about a bunch of people in Virgil, Texas.”

    The film is part zany, slice of life comedy, part anthropological study – processed through the music of Talking Heads and projected through a loving, art house lens. Cap and Byrne discuss how this remarkable portrait of 80s America came together and other unexpected art. (more…)
