To kick off this episode BeeJay, Erik, and Pat dip their toes into the one topic that’s on everyone’s lips… the trailer for Clifford The Big Red Dog. Yes, really. After a quick tangent about trailers that hit them in the feels, the boys quickly roll into the first segment of the show, the positive takeaways from this movie. After a quick break for station identification, the boys cannonball into the parts of the movie and plot that maybe didn’t whet their appetite in the way they had hoped. From there, there’s only one thing left to do… throw the wildest of conjecture out into the universe! The boys will give their hot takes on what they think is going to happen next in this massive space epic (and if their speculation doesn’t actually happen, then they reserve the right to be mad and vocal on the internet!) as well as chime in with their FLAME RATINGS for the film!

  4. Flame On :: Episode 273 :: Everything Old Is A Reboot Again

Flame ON! is the all-gay, all-geek podcast. Tune in as we dish on the latest in pop and queer culture.

They say that everything old is new again, but in the world of pop culture, everything old gets a reboot these days! Whether it’s musicians sampling older songs for new hits or a comic franchise resetting continuity to mine new stories from decades old characters or just a classic movie getting a shiny new high def remake, it’s pretty easy to say that reboots are here to stay.

As the weather changes and the leaves begin to fall, the boys get together to discuss a very important topic, which pop culture reboot worked for them and what media that would love to see get a refresh in the not too distant future. First on the agenda, the boys each set the tone by diving into a piece of pop culture that had a successful reboot or refresh. From movies to video games, they cover the gamut of  pop culture. After a quick break for station identification, they dig into the nitty gritty of what this episode is all about! From Marvel fighting games to rebooted “dolls,” the boys have put some thought into the pop culture they would love to see get a second life (and don’t worry there is a special mention of Fan4astic and the hope for Marvel’s first family’s appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe). Did the boys mention a property that you would love to see get a facelift? If not, they’d love to hear what you would revive with a new look if you had the chance, so be sure to let them know on social media!

From there Bryan dips into post-apocalyptic world created by Brian K Vaughn for DC Comics, Y The Last Man, now adapted to FX by Eliza Clark. Can this crazy world where any living creature with a Y chromosome translate well from the comics to your TVs? Did the dying dog take it too far? Bryan’s answers to that may (or may not) surprise you! The boys then take a trip to the mystic lands of Ta Lo to discuss the latest Marvel movie release for Phase 4, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Once the musical interlude has ended, Pat chimes in with the final topic of the month, Q-Force, the new adult animated show on Netflix from the minds of Gabe LiedmanSean HayesMichael Schur, and more. Does the show deserve the critiques and hatred on social media or does it help bring some much needed representation to LGBTQIA+ communities that are often underserved? Listen in for the thoughts the boys have and feel free to chime in with your own! After that, the boys dive into their 1-Ups for the month AKA the things that are giving them LIFE (aside from the birth of Montero)!

Lifting you up to a brighter day,” and while you wait for that RuPaul earworm to exit your head, why not sashay your way to the Drag Race Hall of Fame to meet the newest inductee! They also share their picks for the best of the challenges from this season as well as the challenges they hope to NEVER see again and of course there’s an extended conversation about the Super Secret Lip Sync Smackdown Pageant Competition Extravaganza Competition Extraordinaire. Did Silky deserve all of her wins? Did Jan break the runway lights on purpose? Should the light up wall have won that Barbie Girl lip sync (the answer is of course – and the lighting person should get a raise as well!)? Was Trinity robbed of her rightful place in the top 4? Did the right queen take the crown? All of those questions are discussed and in this episode, so check it out and let us know what YOU think!

After a brief station identification, they dig into some areas where the felt the show might have slightly missed the mark including the pacing, unearned character growth, the short season length, and the fact that Owen Wilson never did his trademark “Wow” during his scenes. Do you think the boys have the answer? What do you think will happen? Listen in for their thought and share yours on social media! The boys would love to hear it!
