Nerdy Show 2015

  1. VIDEO: Nasty Boy Brian Knobbs Vs. Nerdy Show

    Let’s get ready to rrrrrrrumble! For the first time ever – Nerdy Show is taking on professional wrestling, and we’re doing it literally!

    See Cap as The Pink Mage and Brandon as Terrorbird challenge wrestling legend Brian Knobbs of The Nasty Boys in the ring (with Chan of Derpy Show not so safely commenting on the sidelines). 2. Nerdy Show 222 :: The Nasty Nerds Vs. The Nasty Boys’ Brian Knobbs

    ep222 600Let’s get ready to rrrrrrrumble! For the first time ever – Nerdy Show is taking on professional wrestling, and we’re doing in a big way.

    In this listener-requested heavyweight championship Cap, Brandon, and Derpy Show‘s Chan are going up against wrestling legend Brian Knobbs of The Nasty Boys. The mythology of pro wrestling runs deep and the superheroics of the ring have become the stuff of legend. For many, this is the lone battlefield on which nerds and sports meet. The Nerdy Show crew discuss their introductions to the world of wrestling and then are joined by Knobbs to get schooled on what really goes on in ring. We talk origin stories, costume changes, trademark moves, and crazy, knife-wielding fans. (more…)

  3. Nerdy Show 221 :: Journey Into the Cyber-Net

    ep221 600Put on your safety glasses, ’cause Nerdy Show is soldering up some science and technology!

    This is a Microsode 2-pack! Microsodes are where fans choose the topics we discuss, and this is two of them mashed together. Cap and our resident sci-tech experts Jessica and Jon team up with hosts from across The Nerdy Show Network to provide expert infotainment.

    First up, Trench88 wants to know about cybernetics – and it turns out most of us don’t really know what the word means. Brandon, along with a special guest appearance by the Fleming Bros. of Wicked Anime, do their damnedest to make pop culture comparisons. We come up with our own definition of “cybernetics” as well as put some tasteful new spins on “cybering”.

    Next, Nerdy Show fan Viral Demon asks: “The Internet: How Does It Work?” We’re joined by boR of Derpy Show and Doug, but things are not what they seem. While Cap professes his secrets of the REAL Internet, boR serves as a very un-derpy font of knowledge; dropping some raw truths and squeezing fresh Internet juice. All that plus visions of the virtual net to come, quantum computing, and the joys of holographic chat roulette. (more…)

  4. Nerdy Show 220 :: Lightning Dogs Play Dead!

    The Lightning Dogs are everything we ever loved about sci-fi animation. Tune in as we brainstorm our 80s-inspired, post apocalyptic, action figure-ready, cartoon universe!

    This episode brings our two part Lightning Dogs adventure to a close… and that’s not all! We embarked on this grand experiment two years ago; taking a crazy, nostalgic notion to epic extremes. Now, the first leg of The Lightning Dogs’ conceptual journey comes to an end. But before we announce what comes next, we’re taking one last ride through The Wasteland. (more…)

  5. Nerdy Show 219 :: Lightning Dogs: Beware the Glampire

    Once again Nerdy Show returns to The Wasteland – a desolate future portrait of Earth where humanity is gone and the mutants that remain are lorded over by the villainous Glampire. The only righteous force left to tame the human world gone awry is the evolution of man’s best friend – The Lightning Dogs! These canine commandos’ shred through the desolate terrain on makeshift hotrods looking for answers in a world gone mad.

    We conceived Lightning Dogs by accident during an episode of Nerdy Show and ever since then we’ve been developing the concept of this animated series that never was LIVE! Our goal is to spitball this crazy idea until it’s a real thing. Tune in to hear us pitch crazy concepts and debate crazier back stories. You’ve heard us flesh out our heroes, but what about the villains? In this first part of a two-part puppy pile-up we delve into the nefarious alien, Glampire and his grotesque minion Halloween Jack! (more…)

  6. Nerdy Show 218 :: State of the Empire – Revelations at Star Wars Celebration

    ep218State of the Empire is Nerdy Show’s Star Wars speculation podcast where we “look for news in Alderaan places”…

    …Though for once we’re looking in the right place – We’re on site at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim! Thanks to the support of Consequence of Sound our coverage is fully operational and straight from the source.

    The Star Wars universe is poised to erupt in a fervor not seen since the series’ debut. This weekend alone we’ve seen Han and Chewie return to the screen, Rebels season 2 bridge the gap between the Clone Wars and the Rebellion, Star Wars Battlefront return gamers to the frontlines, and Rogue One promise to show us a side of Star Wars we’ve never seen on the screen.

    Join Cap, Doug, Matt, and special guest host Matthew Rex as we recount our adventures in perilous lines and in-depth panels. We scavenge for secret truths and read between the lines to give you the most in depth and hypothetically accurate dish on Star Wars news in the galaxy. (more…)

  7. Nerdy Show 217 :: Bringing Rain of the Ghosts to Life With Greg Weisman & Eric Lopez

    ep217In the world of dramatic television animation there’s few creators as revered as Greg Weisman. Chances are good you know his work: Gargoyles, Young Justice, Star Wars Rebels, or perhaps you hung out with us last year for the Greg Weismanathon when we watched over 8 hours of Weisman-penned cartoons. Enter: Rain of the Ghosts – a new creator-owned project, and a startling world that needs your help to bring it to life.

    Rain of the Ghosts is a novel series following the paranormal adventures of Rain Cacique, an island girl in a tourist town where all is not what it seems. Two out of the proposed nine books are out and now Greg is crowdfunding the creation of an audioplay featuring an insane cast of 20 actors – from Demona (Marina Sirtis) to Darkwing Duck (Jim Cummings). Join Cap and Tony as they discuss the novel series and the audioplay with Greg and voice actor Eric Lopez, aka Young Justice‘s Blue Beetle. (more…)

  8. Nerdy Show 216 :: Unwritten History: Pop Culture That Never Came to Pass

    ep216Usually when people discuss alternate timelines it involves sweeping events in our planet’s history. What if the Axis won World War 2? What if the Inca had lightning guns? But not Nerdy Show, at least not this time! No, in this episode we devote our parallel world perusing to unreleased pop culture projects: amazing films, games, and comic books that were developed but remain incomplete to this day.

  9. Nerdy Show 215 :: Writing Duos: Good Things Come in Pairs

    ep215Here on Nerdy Show, we give love to creators all the time. After all, talented writers, directors, artists, etc. are what make our pop culture world go ’round. But on this episode of Nerdy Show, we’re going a step further and celebrating those special creators who’ve found their creative soul mates: writing duos.

    Perfectly paired partnerships truly do yield fantastic things. We consider the creators behind our favorite books (comics and text) as well as the bold duos behind films, TV, and music to examine just how their dual-brained dynamics make good ideas into great ideas. How funny would The Venture Bros. be without Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer working in tandem? How could A New Hope and Empire have become the stuff of legend without the guiding hand of Marcia Lucas to fix George’s crazy?

    Join Cap, Denika, Luke, and La Valle as they ask these questions and more! (more…)

  10. Nerdy Show 214 :: Food Crawl!

    ep214Embark with Nerdy Show on a perilous gastronomical journey!

    We’re going on a Food Crawl – a hallowed mission undertaken by a brave few to eat at as many restaurants in a single outing as possible. No pit stops, no detours, just non-stop gnoshing. Join Cap, Colin, Brandon, and Denika for a magical mystery tour through the best local Orlando restaurants. You’re along for the ride as we nerd out about food (and plenty else) while cruisin’ through the mean streets of O-Town.

    Pizza? You betcha. Exciting ethnic cuisine? And how! Sandwiches with other sandwiches for buns? Oh yes. What starts as a delicious adventure spirals into a challenge of gastrointestinal fortitude as these foodies push the limits of human consumption. It’s a scared quest we don’t undertake lightly. We consult with the Food Crawl sage, Matt Spill and abide by Food Crawl Law. Because – as in ancient times, no Food Crawl comes to an end, no matter how well you’ve dined, until you hit rock bottom at Taco Bell.
