Nerdy Show Network – Month in Review: February 2014
March is shaping up to be pretty exciting. As you’ve no doubt noticed, we’re doing another RPG one-shot support drive. We’re continuing to have a monthly theme, and this time it’s RPGs. The newest Chapter of Dungeons & Doritos might still be a month off, but the Call of Cthulhu 1-off has been recorded and there’s a slew of roleplaying-flavored content on the way which Cap elaborates on in the most recent podcast. MegaCon is this month and we’ll be there with a panel and an much larger booth than previous years – so if you’re looking for an excuse to party in Orlando, now’s a good time! For a full list of our upcoming events, just scroll down.
Without further ado, I give you the February Month in Review.
:: Nerdy Show ::
Instead of podcasts, Nerdy Show was all about the live events in February. February 8th, we celebrated Lantern Day by streaming A Nerdy Show Comic Show with comics author Charles Soule (Red Lanterns, Superman/Wonder Woman, Swamp Thing, Thunderbolts, She-Hulk, Inhuman, and Letter 44) and February 12th we taped a new episode of Nerdy Show Live! You can watch both of them below and be sure to SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube channel, because there’s still more Nerdy Show videos to come.
Accompanying the launch of Nerdy Show Comic Show LIVE and Nerdy Show LIVE were two short podcasts. In Episode 166 Cap and Hex share some community news and discuss Hex’s honeymoon an in Episode 167 Cap shares what’s to come in March and April, including some bit interviews! In March we’ll be talking with Moogfest presenters David X Cohen – Executive Producer and writer of Futurama, Clare Evans – from the band YACHT who resurrected the legendary sci-fi magazine, OMNI, Neil Harbisson – thee world’s first government recognized cyborg, and Mark Frauenfelder – Editor-in-chief of MAKE Magazine and co-editor for Boing Boing. If you’ve got any questions for them, etc. you can post them here.
In addition to those two podcasts, the crew celebrated the 5th anniversary of the show by releasing their earliest known recording from February 11th, 2009.
Rapper Astronautalis’ track he made for Nerdy Show’s Tetris Rap Attack contest back in 2010 got re-recorded!
:: Dungeons & Doritos ::

:: Ghostbusters Resurrection ::
Still searching for clues in Germany, the Central Florida Ghostbusters devise a crazy plan to sneak back into the mysterious Munich night club. Once inside, they find themselves the center of attention. And that’s just what they wanted. With the help of some music, mayhem, and a generous application of slime, the Ghostbusters blast their way through a horde of evil vampires who never saw it coming.
:: Wicked Anime ::
Jonathan, Andrew, Dillon and Glitch, self proclaimed experts on many aspects of world culture that they are, celebrated Black History Month by talking about that rarest type of anime character and the influence of black culture on anime and Japan. It’s okay, Glitch was there for it all.
:: Flame ON! ::
In the first February episode, the guys said farewell to the Eleventh Doctor in their review of the end of Series 7, the 50th Anniversary special Day of the Doctor, and the game-changing Christmas special Time of the Doctor.
In the second they celebrate their 50th episode by discussing The LEGO Movie, BBC’s Sherlock, American Horror Story: Coven, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, and the latest news from Marvel, DC, Image and the rest of the comic book publishers.
:: EPIC PIEcast ::
Schaffer returned from his west coast tour, so the guys talked about Greek logic, Star Trek, the value of time travel as a plot device and The Walking Dead. Lugo and Schaffer also turned their attentions to love and romance as they answered listeners’ questions with highly suspect and definitely questionable advice. Charles Stunning joined in as the trio revealed the winner of the EPIC PIEcast Mad Libs Contest and performed a dramatic reading of the winning entry.
:: The Real Congregation ::
The Real Congregation has moved to monthly release schedule, look for it the first Tuesday of every month from here on out.
