Season 4 Episode 6 :: New Dimensions in Gaming

Posted by NerdyShow on April 12, 2011

Mass Effect 3DSWhen we debuted our minisode format in October, our first coverage centered around the Mass Effect 2 DLC, Lair of the Shadow Broker.  It’s only appropriate that as we absorb minisodes into the regular Nerdy Show numbering, it is again with Mass Effect DLC.  Arrival is the sci-fi epic’s latest installment, possibly the last before this Fall’s Mass Effect 3. Our resident Bioware expert, Colin, has all the details on the expansion.

But this episode’s main event is our discussion of Nintendo’s latest hardware mind-blower, the 3DS.  We discuss the system, its games both current and forthcoming, all the stuff preloaded on the hardware, and how it’s bringing augmented reality into your home.  One thing leads to another and we also get into a discussion about Nintendo as a whole with Brandon dealing some harsh criticism for The Big N.  All that, plus a visit to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games with Luke McDuffee, a smattering of recent video game news, oh yeah… and lots of cognac.  Whoosh!
