Sightseeing on the Server of Awesome – 8-Bit Love + More!
Hey gang! Well a lot has been going on the past few weeks. Amazing new structures are being built all over the place, we’ve also got some terrific new maps and some grand news. I am also positive you all have heard about our first Minecraft contest by now, if you haven’t – scroll down! But on your way to look at those gorgeous prizes, I’ll be taking you on a tour through structures old and new and filling you guys in on some interesting server news you might not be aware of, as well as telling you guys what is ahead for the Server of Awesome!
8-Bit Art, OH MY!!!
Some amazing new examples of 8-bit art have come up in the past few weeks. Fantastic examples of ingenuity and a lot of fun and well loved characters have popped up all over the Server of Awesome! There’s also some now “classic” pieces that have weathered the tests of time in our blocky world that I’ll give some love to.
With the new updates it has been hard for people to gather the materials necessary to create some of these elaborate structures. Our minecraftians have persevered through these difficult challenges and have not failed to create some pretty magnificent things. Take Tchell’s Lake Zard!
Over 19,000 blocks of mountain were cleared away using tools created by material found on site to be replaced by over 3000 blocks of sand, stone, water and lava. Took one man about a month of casual laboring to achieve this amazing fiery lake.
If you have ever visited the famous Triforce Plaza you would be familiar with some of these characters!
Fancy a riveting game of chess? StinkracerX has it all covered! He made an astounding KING-SIZE chess set.
Another very grand establishment belongs to Trent. This crafter has been keeping us in the loop on his construction via the Nerdy Show forums (still in Beta!) of his epic constructions and I must say we have all been immensely impressed. You see it all starts with a massive golden wall, and as you go explore the insides you will see such a beautiful building you will most definitely be left in awe. As Cap put it, he spoils us!
And there it is – 5 floors of epic glory! Believe it or not there’s still more work to be done, but so far it’s looking mighty sexy.
There’s a constant influx of new crafters coming in, and with new crafters comes even more projects and adventures! We want to know what you guys are doing. If you’re working on something cool – I want to know about it! So send pictures, stories, and plans to yours truly – firstname.lastname@example.org!
The Exciting Contest!
