ParticipantHere’s a bonus feature thing I’ve only just added to the episode page. A little visual aide I made to help the gang have a more visceral experience:
- What the Ghostbusters saw SPOILER WARNING
@cap, I have the feeling during this scene that you drew either one of these songs was probably played in somebody’s head:Option 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ly4611uL6Q
or Option 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knAXCCWC404

ParticipantEpisode 3 was AWESOME!
While the Wicker Man scene was rather creepy, including the dude with the black slime coming out of his eyes, I have to say the creepiest scene was the call to Ray, and the reversal of the chant. I gathered from the gasps from the team that it had that effect there too (at least I hope it wasn’t just them acting).
I applaud you guys and gal for this episode…but don’t envy the team…They seem to have a long night ahead…

Keymaster100% real. Doug and I (well, mostly Doug) had been planning and scheming how to execute this for over a year.

ParticipantI’d actually fallen off of ghostbusters sometime in Season 2, but figured I’d pick it back up with the relaunch. Really good sound design, you guys. It’s really novel to know exactly where you’re talking about with all the busts, being around town in Orlando. When @doug first started describing the demon, I was like “oh cool, they’re going up against Punkinhead…” and then when he dropped the name, i was like “Oh NO….”

Participant@MAX, I decided to re-listen from the beginning in celebration of the new season coming around. I am most of the way through season 2, but couldn’t stop myself from listing to the season 3 episodes. Comparatively, season 3 is by far the most creepy.
I have been listening to the podcast while at the gym. I don’t recall when in Season 2, whether it was the “loco-motive” joke from the train episode, or the team making fun of the french police officer (same episode), the line about the officer knowing ghosts kill people, like the ghost who killed the guy sleeping with his wife…I damn near dropped 225 on my chest mid-set as I was laughing so hard!

ParticipantJust listened to the latest episode (I swear I stay up late at night just so I can see if I can hear this first.) Today was a bit of a rough day in my personal life, I don’t want to get into details, but thing were kind of tough but we’re starting to bounce back from it.
That said, this episode brought a lot of laughs and joy to me. Loved the shootout scene and the Die-Hard stuff. Yeah, the Christmas adventure I have planned has a couple of nods though mainly as a tribute to the late, great Alan Rickman who in my humble opinion, is the best and most realistic of action movie villains (as far as those films go.)
But Briggs, just FYI, sometimes if you let the girl come to help and strap on a pack, you might find out a couple of things about her. In my game, the girl who I let join us not only ended up dating my character but also brought some magic to the team. I get where you’re coming from in that you’re concerned for her, but you have to learn to trust in a relationship. A very wise man once put it best “If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Hoooo.” I think we can all learn from that. Instead of being too afraid to lie or try to sound confident when we clearly know the Dice Gods are working against you.
I’m starting to get the feeling that you guys at the Orlando Branch might not be the only ones clueless in regards to the cult. I have some theories regarding Mr. Book and his connections to the cult, but I won’t say them here. Otherwise, great episode again, and I can’t wait for the next one.

ParticipantOh yeah laugh riot this episode.
@briggs i feel for dealing with hyenas, get that all the time. Personally i would have loved if you forced the guys to reach for your phone when she called. If they are involving with your calls they should go all the way.
@doug the energy from the fight to the chance was great, question: when the gunmen opened fired was it just flavor text or was there a to hit roll and they missed? The fight to the chance was a prime example of watching a scene that had great energy just die down. I really hate when i cant keep the momentum going, how much time do you edit out of your actions scenes to keep them up beat?
Anyone: Would there have been time to toss a slime grenade at the helicopter instead of shooting?

Participant@pseery80 There was a base line number for the bad guys firing at the Ghostbusters, but all of them rolled to “duck” and I also counted their saved brownie points for their “luck” factor. Basically, the more Brownie Points you have saved up, the luckier you are. All of them still had a TON, so none of them were hit. If the bad guys got to fire again that might have ended differently, but thankfully they were beaten back.
When we played it, this game was nearly two hours long. But as you can see, it’s now less than an hour. Story-wise, I didn’t cut anything to shorten it. I cut out long silences and the time it takes everyone to count up their rolls, but otherwise you hear what happened at the table. It also feels more exciting when you have a cinematic soundtrack and tons of sound effects helping out.
When planning the shootout and chase sequence, I just made sure I was prepared and knew where the bad guys wanted to go. Ultimately I think what made it exciting was that my players were pro-active and didn’t run away.

ParticipantDoug-
That was AWESOME! I had to stop working out so I could listen to it, I was having so much fun! I was impressed the team continued after the cultists…especially for a team that doesn’t usually work with the living, corporeal types, and don’t like to miss with proton streams. I even expected the ECTO to get screeched to a halt for the amazing phone conversation! It was so fun!

ParticipantThanks, @dagrik! You’re not still listening to it while lifting weights, are you? I hope you have a reliable spotter.

ParticipantI was definitely on the bench with 225, about half way done with the set when the phone call started. Damn near died. To add to that, since I desire to fill my time between new GB:R episodes with other nerdy goodness, I started listening to Bad Storytellers. I was running today and was laughing my butt off while cruising down a residential street listening to EP 9, where the group discussed a short story of a male whose friend was “hurt” by a female…and someone interpreted the story to the male and female training in a dojo which led to a physical confrontation. It was a good time.

ParticipantHi, all! Just listened to the latest episode of Ghostbusters Resurrection! Man was that a great episode. I’m actually surprised that when it turned out that the mysterious van was a Plumber’s Van, nobody bothered to ask if it was the Mario Bros. Also, really like the Druden. I actually almost believed that the creature attacking the park was actually Swamp Thing considering the Halloween theme and the fact that it was still a Wes Craven work. Look forward to seeing how you guys take care of the remaining Druden.
A side note for @briggs though, you may have succeeded in just barely saving your relationship, but this is why I had previously mentioned that it helps to employ girlfriends. Even if they say no, you can always lure them back with the promise that if they join, they can know for sure that their loved ones are close by and safe. It also helps so that you know for certain that a siren is trying to play mind-games with you. Just saying.
Anyways, loved the episode and the little tag at the end with the “Goo Man Group” Inquiry. You guys really need to start making actual T-Shirts of the “band.” Keep up the great work! Here’s to the next episode! 🙂

ParticipantThis episode had a good flow.
@doug during the plant when the vine monster dropped down and ran, was he not able to take any other action or was vine attacks all him?I am waiting to see if someone is gonna “old yeller” the vampire Ralph out of shear annoyance.
Loving the running gag with vivian, in the rpg Dresden files characters make up aspects and troubles that represents thier lives and personalies, the GM can compel this things to make life more difficult for the players and this is an example of this
Oh boy i think you guys chose the wrong emergency to do deal with the next episode, Disney waits for no man! Waiting for a disney based franchise
And @briggs, i better hear you make up a ghostbuster attack vehicle soon.
What else? Oh yeah Bangerang @laforge for the vivian call, had to stop driving to end the laughing

Participant@pseery80 the creature and vines all shared the same “brain.” The creature was just a faster and more deadly straightforward attack. However, it wasn’t fast enough. Once all the Ghostbusters decided to fire upon it, it realized it didn’t have a chance and fled.
As far as Ralph goes, I’m a little surprised they didn’t kill him out of mercy after he told them his story. But to me, that’s what makes this team awesome. They’re looking at a former enemy (who once tried to kill them) and are legitimately holding out hope for a second chance to save him, even though there is ZERO evidence it’s possible. It was a nice reminder that when they chips are down, these Ghostbusters are real heroes.
