It’s been a couple of years now, but I remember hearing this really sweet track that was about Baba Yaga (you know, the Russian witch legend), but I cannot for the life of me recall which episode it was on, and Googling the phrase “Baba Yaga song” just gives me a lot of results for John Wick. Please, someone help me!

I think I’ve got you covered Spiral. You’re probably thinking of “Swamp Witch” by Random Encounter from their album Let Me Tell You a Story. It was featured on episode zero on The Nerd Groove, though I don’t recall if it was ever played on any episodes of any other show on the network. That one had stood out for me in particular and it’s still one of my favorites of theirs.

@delphi Yup! One of my favorite RE tracks!

Travis, 1/2 of @archonreeve the duo behind Liberty: Critical Research is the vocalist/ accordionist on that track.

@Delphi I don’t know if it’s in any more podcasts, but it is definitely in the rotation on Nerdy.fm.

    Guess who, it's Kaosubaloo!

I should also add there’s another amazing Baba Yaga song by Walter Sickert & The Army of Broken Toys: https://armyoftoys.bandcamp.com/track/baba-yaga-2

@kaosubaloo You’re right, I’d definitely expect it to still be in rotation on Nerdy.Fm. I was just mentioning a podcast episode I knew it had been played on because @downwardspiral had specifically mentioned that he couldn’t remember what show or episode he’d heard it on. I suppose it’s possible he’d actually heard it on Nerdy.Fm and forgot that it hadn’t been in any specific shows he listened to, but since I knew of at least one show that had played it I thought referencing it might jog his memory.

The artwork for that song is amazing. I’ll listen to it once I’m in a place I can do that, but I already think I’ll really like it.
